This site was lovely and full of families, toilets and showers clean. Being able to pitch next to the kids park was great as we could watch our kids whilst we had a beer. We didn't use the club, but looked in at the kids club and it looked ok. We only stayed 1 night and could not be bothered cooking, the chinese takeaway in churchtown was lovely and the off license over the road from the chinese was quite cheap. Went to bed at midnight and there was no noise at all.

We do not recommend this site to disabled visitors, because If you are disabled and your carer is of the opposite sex, you can not use the toilets or showers. They claim to have disabled facilities, but all they have done is labelled cubicals inside the toilet / shower block as disabled and put a lock on which you have to pay a deposit of £20 to get a key for. We also found the older lady in reception was quite aggressive. When I said I could not find the disabled toilets to take my blind partner to, I was told that she would get a member of staff to take him into the mens and show him where the disabled cubical was, but this would be only done once as her staff were too busy to assist more than once. Also if you are in a tent you can not have electric, its against their rules.

Great site. There's is a park, amusements and a family room for the kids, there's an adults only room with entertainment, and there's a swimming pool (closed during our stay) and a chippy (unfortunately closes quite early). The shower block and facilities were all clean and modern. No hook up for tents so pick your own spot. There's free fishing also, but the bank is overgrown and impossible to get to the edge. Friendly staff, worth a visit. We'll be going again.

First time out in our caravan, and found the place excellent.
Good for exploring Southport.
Had gold pitch which had EHU and Water next to it. Toilets were spotless. Didn't use showers. Shop ok. Entertainment was very good. Kids loved play area. Pool closed at the time, was not given a reason. Arcade a bit dated.
Would go back, but like exploring, so will go somewhere different next time.

Second visit to Riverside and we tried a silver pitch this time. A word of warning here, some silver pitches are sited on a slight slope and we found it impossible to get our van on the marker as there was a van in front of us and we couldn't get the car in the right position. We gave up in the end and got a different pitch which we had no trouble with. We were very impressed with the new renovations. A decent sized shop and a great new cafe, serving food at very reasonable prices. The only problem was that it shut at 4pm. Very friendly site. Not much for the kids to do except for the park and the arcade. The toilets and showers were spotless. The only problem in the showers was lack of hanging space. It was just a curtain pulled across a hook, but apart from that it was fine. Will definitely be re-visiting.

Just returned from a weekend break. We have been here before and wasn't too keen on it last time we visited, we tried it again due to the location being close to Southport. We stayed on a gold pitch which is all service. The pitches are well separated and far apart, they also have electric pitches on the field. The site is flat, there are two play areas of good standards our 4 & 5 year old loved them and we could keep our eye on them from the van. The showers and toilets were very clean and warm. The shop is no longer open and there is nothing going on for families during the winter months, it all starts from easter and they have a kids disco on at weekends from 7.30 til 10.30pm. The site has a lot of statics and seasonal tourers, they cater for adults and there's lots of entrainment on around the country & western theme which is great if you are into that? It has a small games room with machines and video games in, the pool complex was closed and you have to pay extra to use the pool. They charge £20 barrier key deposit and you have to leave the site by 11am on departure, if you are late they deduct a fiver off the deposit which is fine if you want to stay longer. We are glad we went back to this site as the touring area is really nice and the staff are very friendly, we will definitely be going back in summer when everything is open and hopefully its a bit warmer. Make sure you take your storm straps for the awning as this site does get very windy due to it being so open!

This was our second trip out with the caravan and we opted for this site as we were taking the grandchildren.
They had a ball. The kids club was not as busy on the Friday night as it was on the Saturday night. But enough to keep them amused from 7.30 until 10.30 on both nights. They also loved the play area and settled with the other kids with no problems.
There was a separate bar/lounge with an artist on both of the nights we were there for Adults.
The campsite was flat and we had a Gold pitch that had water and electric at each pitch.
The showers and toilets were very clean, although not much room to hang your clothes etc whilst showering.
All in all a great family campsite, but if you don't have children you might want to avoid in the school holidays.
10 mins drive from Southport. In a good position. Will certainly take the grandchildren again here.

Just got back from this site. Booking was difficult as after a certain time the phone just rang. Arrived at the site book in at reception had to pay a £20 deposit for a toilet key and a swipe card to enter site. Directions to pitch were easy to follow we were stopping on a gold pitch. The camp fields were clean and not overcrowded. The pitch had own drainage, electric hook up and water and was all gravel. The toilet blocks were clean and quiet modern onlt issue was the showers no where to hang clothes and you need to keep pressing the button but water was hot. The playgrounds were central and good. Never used the club room as my daughter and friend are too old for kids club. The chippy on site was okay and reasonable priced. The shop was small and did not stock a lot and was closed at 6. I really liked this site and would recommend a gold pitch I will be going back and this time I might try the club. Its close enough to go to southport by car or by bus as the stop is just outside the site. Southport is ok with good shopping and a fun fair and swimming pool

Just visited this site over the August Bank Holiday. Overall the site was clean and well maintained, including the toilets and showers. There were 2 toilet blocks and 1 central toilet and shower block (these were closed at intervals for daily cleaning). The shop was very basic for the size of the site.
The pitches are quite small compared to other sites we have been to. We were pitched close to the two play areas and the noise wasn't too bad, although the older kids congregated on them at night and my 6 year old was sworn at during the day!
There were large gatherings of families and friends and therefore 'gangs' of children seemed to form around the site and some who used bad language, which my wife and two children overheard.
The children's club in the evening was noisy and chaotic. Children were supposed to be supervised by an adult - but some were clearly not. They had a tuck shop every night and there was an endless queue for sweets and fizzy drinks!
There is also a nightclub on site and a lounge bar for adults and although we did not hear the noise from these in the evenings, we did hear noise from a nearby country and western club.
The pool looked ok but is expensive as you have to purchase a 2 day pass at a cost of £32 for a family of 4 and you can probably go to Splashworld for a day for a similar price.
This site is ideally based for visiting Southport, but it is not ideal for peace and quite.

Site was very well laid out, the shower & toilet blocks were very clean, with good lighting, the shower were good, there was no additional charges for using them, the only down side was there was no where to hang clothes outside of wash area. The playground is very good.
There does not appear to be any set pitching areas for your tent and appears the best pitching areas go early if you have children there are a lot of tents pitched around the playground, there is a tree area that offers some protection from the wind,as when we were there the wind was a key factor with very little breaking the wind at the top end of the tent field.T he shop sold basic items, the onsite pub sounds great from the website but parts of it children are not allowed, the family room was only open on Saturday night whilst we were there, the reception staff were friendly & very busy as it took a few phone calls to book a pitch.
The onsite chip shop was great,we did not use the laundrette. This was our first time camping as a family, we went the weekend of the golf open but we will definitely go back as this is a great base to explore the local area Southport it's a great place for Kids and we found plenty to do in the town for young and old
