It is 15 years ago since I visited this site, I was surprised how much had changed since my last visit. The super pitches were well spaced out on gravel with water hook up and plenty of room for the awning. The site is well maintained and the toilet blocks were spotless, there is a main shower block near the play area and another one near the premium pitches, both were very clean. The childrens play area is just the right size on bark chippings and our children loved it. We didnt use the club at night, it is not open on Friday nights, it is only open Sat nights for families up until 10.30pm which suits us. The chippy was nice and good value. The only thing that we could complain about was we had booked a pitch next to our friends and when they got there the site had booked them for the wrong date, luckily they had spaces and we ended up near to each other, the staff on reception were very helpful and apologetic and did their best to sort it out. We had a really nice weekend and visited the new Waves splashpool in Southport, its pricey @ £24 for a family of 4 but we enjoyed it, the area has lots to do and a visit to the nearby Windmill Farm is a must if you have small children as we do. We have booked another weekend at the site for Halloween because we enjoyed it so much and thought the prices for the site are very reasonable. The site is also open until Jan so good if your like us and take your caravan out all year.

Great campsite.Second visit to the Riverside for us. We've just bought a trailer tent and wanted to test it out.
Loads of room on silver pitch to move trailer and park car. Ideal for dogs as thet've got a great dog walk round the site which is kept clean by users. If you've got dogs watch out for the little chickens and hens that run around. Had to muzzle our Jack Russel who wanted to play with them!. Toilets and showers are probably the best i've seen on a busy campsite. Secure and clean. Staff were seen several times picking up rubbish keeping the site clean. Great little shop. Even had a cheap frying pan as i'd forgot my own!. Would recommend this site to all families. Didn't go in the bar/pub but intend to when we go back in August. Plenty of room for kids to play. 5 minutes drive to a car park on the beach which was 60p for an hour. Turn left at the entrance and follow signs for beach.

I have previously left a review regarding this site and now is the time to eat humble pie. My first visit to Riverside was not a good one but during the summer of 2005 I paid them many more visits due to my husband insisting what a great place it was and yet again he was right. It seems my first experience was not the norm. Subsequent visits showed a clean well kept park with extremely helpful staff. So what I couldnt use a hairdryer natural waves are so much nicer and the shower blocks were refreshingly welcome ater a hard days sunbathing. Not a fan of chippy food anyway bbq are so much nicer. If you enjoy the simple pleasure in life peace and quite a glass of wine and time to stop and stare this is the place for you. Cant wait to take my grandson on his first camping trip - to Riverside of course!

We have just come back from a brilliant bank holiday weekend at Riverside. The pitch is big and level, the toilet and showers are warm and clean and the staff are lovely. The only downside is there isn't much for children. There is a small play area but no football pitch, there is a river for fishing in but the children are only allowed in one bar and that only opens Saturday - Thursday 7:30 until 10:30. The drinks and tuck shop is reasonably priced though and the entertainment was great.

Fantastic site; been here a few times was actually found by misjudging directions my hubby had but what a find the kids loved it especially the play area and funky monkey club. All staff were brilliant we had been to a few caravan sites in the past and the trained staff there were nowhere as good as this gang they are ALL friendly and helpful. We were contemplating going abroad this year trying out camping in France but hey no the kids pulled their faces as kids do and begged us to re-book for riverside, says something for the site if even a 16 year old still wants to visit there as its a brilliant place to go. As soon as you arrive to the minute you leave you know you're in for a great holiday without any worries as everything is at hand including a well stocked shop, decent laundry lovely and clean showers and toilets, chippy thats not the best but have seen worse and fabulous kids club. The site is a credit to all who work there they have a hard time keeping everything in order and making sure all children (and adults alike) are well entertained cant wait till end of may to go back and the kids are that excited they have even packed their suitcases ready. Note to any family wanting a cheap and cheerful holiday hassle free Riverside at Banks is the place to go once you have been you wont want to try anywhere else.

We arrived at this site and our first impression was that it was dirty. When we went to book in,the receptionist was friendly enough - we were told where our pitch was and was then handed a supply of toilet tissue! This was apparently because some of it had been stolen and the kind they gave us was the boxed tracing paper kind which you used to get at school. It did have good security by means of a barrier by reception. There was a little chippy which had seen better days and we didn't like the look of the club room as there were many rowdy families so we travelled out into Southport. The pitches weren't bad sized but I wouldn't go back.

We found the site brilliant and clean everywhere, the people that work there are very friendly. We took are grandchildren there in August and the kids club and the people that run it were marvels. We also go there with another couple, just us adults and the staff and entertainment manager are helpful. If you you want peace and quiet that is what you will get, we have been to a lot of sites over the years and this one beats them hands down.

Nice site and quite, had a good old relax there, barrier allows extra security. However, all locks on the gents toilet doors had been vandalised a small point I know. The showers have not been designed for families. There is lots of space however, the shower wets everything and the little space to hang your clothes is not ample if you have a small child with you. When will caravan site operators design showers with more space for clothes and dry area and concentrate less on the wet area!

I've never felt the need to leave negative feedback before. We've relied on comments on UK Campsite website and have generally been impressed. Riverside's website looked good. We paid to stay for a week - though left after one night because we were disappointed with the site. The pitches for touring caravans were very very cramped with just about enough room for a car - with row upon row upon rows of tourers - all looking into each others caravan.
The clubhouse on site was dirty. There were no opening hours for the chippy on site - and no-one available to ask after 5.00pm! The only ladies shower block was closed between 10-11am on Sunday mornings. Although the toilet block was new - the smell was awful. It was definitely not for us, and so we left after just one night. We requested a refund for the overpayment we had made and were told this would be immediately paid back into our bank account - we are still waiting despite several Emails! They (the owners - we still have no idea who they were) simply weren't concerned about our disappointment whatsoever.

Love this site, very good for all ages and you only get charged on your caravan, no individual prices. The staff are really nice and they have a good shop on site. The showers are really clean and are closed for cleaning daily, I have been staying here for a couple of years now and started off in a tent, the children's play area is good and all in all a good family site.
