First visit here and while the weather was excellent and good surrounding areas to visit ie Southport, the site was disappointing. The toilet block nearest to our tent wasn't cleaned during the 3 days we stayed thus were dirty. The rubbish area was inadequate for the amount of people using the site at the time, resulting in bags spilling out. On a positive note there was plenty room to pitch our tent in the 'traditional' tent pitch area.

Stayed for the bank holiday weekend. Campsite full so lots of people causing queuing at times for showers and pot washing etc.
Showers clean and roomy although no dry area in the shower cubicle. Play area fine for our son (9 years) Found the staff to be very helpful as we had a few problems but staff sorted quickly.
Great cafe on site good food and great prices. Club house good our 9year old enjoyed the entertainment.
Overall a pleasant weekend only let down by weather! but this the campsite not responsible for! Could do with some kind of wind breakers in the field as very open and windy.
Would return good base for southport and the surrounding area.

Just got back from a 3 night break at Riverside! Not sure if we would rush back! The pitches were cramped many campers invading your pitch, & the grass needed attention in places!
The bins were overflowing onto the floor and the shower/toilet blocks were not as clean as some campsites!
The campsite is a one way system which makes getting to the pitches difficult! Staff however were friendly & helpful.
The shop was well stocked and most items were reasonably priced!

Stayed for 4 nights over the bank holiday weekend. No complaints about the site or facilities which I thought we're excellent.
Shop was reasonable also the cafe-take away looked great although we never used it.
Showers and washing up areas we're very good too.
We enjoyed going to the kids disco at night in the club where the children let off some steam on the dance floor and met some characters which they really enjoyed.
We have booked again at this site and taken advantage of the great offer if you book straight away and got a great discount.
All in all I think the site is great

Looking at previous reviews I may have caught a bad week. Arrived at site to find pitches changed (management said when we were leaving that they couldn't understand why).
Monday no hot water, Tuesday lukewarm, Wednesday no water at all. Reception advised that there was a notice in reception. (who goes into reception on a daily basis). Don't worry about site rules as no one else does, least of all the management. Say's no flags, they were flapping all night and couldn't be a one off as seasonal pitches even had lights up the flag poles.
Pitches 20 foot wide but if you are seasonal you can claim another 12 feet with your windbreak. 1 shower block for 300 caravans, although they were clean. Super pitches covered in weeds.

This was our third visit to this park after using it as a stop off point on the way to and from the West Country last year. We returned for 6 nights to explore Southport further and were happy to use Riverside as we had found the facilities to be good, the toilet and showers clean and well maintained, the shop well stocked and reasonably priced and the cafe very good. We found this still to be true but our visit was marred by being surrounded by tents at the weekend occupied by a group of adults and children celebrating a birthday, they partied noisily until 2.30am with no official intervention only settling down after a long term resident challenged them. We felt less safe and secure than on previous visits. The site would also benefit from some natural or man made wind breaks.

Please don't let the other comments put you off, we visited this site in April 2011 on the bank holiday and we had no problems whatsoever,
We were on the super pitches, yes ok they do need a little bit of weeding and tidying up,
The site was very full but the people on the site were very pleasant, we had no problems with noise or foul language,
I must say through that the toilets at the far end in the portable cabin need maintenance, 2 of our 5 were coming out the floor and wobbled when you sat on them,
Overall a nice site.

Stayed here for one night. Brilliant site. Not the easiest to find.
Excellent nice hot showers! Lots of great offers on and reductions if you book your next pitch while you are there!
Went into Southport town which is always worth a visit. Only stayed for 1 night but plenty more to do and see such as Blackpool, Formby etc which are also great days out!

Stayed on this site from the 20th April and then over bank holiday weekend.
Stayed in the 40s pitches
The pitches are approx 10 meters in length and 5 meters wide.
Bad points
Not enough washing up sinks and no plug holes so remember to take your own bowls or plugs.
Although showers are free they are extremely hot to hot for my 3 year old they need individual controls
Not enough Water taps its ok when site isn't full as you can cut across pitches but they are quite a walk when carrying water they need to have at least one tap per row.
The bloody chickens waking you at 5am.
I do know that the site did have trouble with the electrics the next row from us didn't really have electrics over the whole weekend.
Security needs to be seen more over the really busy periods as some people do take the micky.
All in all I would return to this site not a bad price £118 for 5 nights over the bank holiday with electric hook up and the weather really helped.
They could do with investing some money to open the swimming pool.
£20 dep refundable
The staff are very friendly and helpful

On visiting this size we thought the following
Bad point
Pitches very close together and the grass wanted a good cut and the chickens woke us up really early
Good points
About 10 mins drive to southport, toilets were clean, we didn't use the showers and general site was clean and well maintained
We would visit again. There was plenty going on if you wanted it they have a shop and club on site
My daughter loved the park
