Booked this site for 8 weeks to leave caravan here for various family members to take a break in. Normally go adult only sites but due to family members having children booked this site. And to be honest it just made me want adults only campsite. The kids playground while looks good is noisy language was terrible, heard some families had bullying problems. Pitches untidy long grass and weeds had to litter pick pitch. Bar seemed full of chav's did not use. Children throwing stones at caravan and car numerous times. Plus side dog walking area good but not kept clean enough by fellow dog owners. Family across from us constantly screaming and swearing at child, not most relaxing thing to hear. Toilets very basic first thing in morning dirty toilet paper un usable.

Arrived on Friday evening all seemed well check in was really simple although a £20 deposit was needed for car swipe returned on leaving. The facilities were to say the least outdated and untidy (the whole time we were there never saw a cleaner).

The surrounds were full of weeds and not looked after. No area for the children to play ball games and the play area was totally inadequate for the amount of children on site. Awoke Saturday morning to discover between me and my sisters van 3 packages yes you guessed dog poop !, I am a responsible dog owner and I saw red, hubby cleaned it up. Went to reception to let them know and I have to say the saving grace for this site was the reception girls they were polite helpful and were the stars of the place.

I booked for the weekend on Tuesday and paid £56 my sister decided to join us and she paid £73 for the same pitch and same people not sure how that worked.

Enjoyed a 3 night break at this park. However things on arrival didn't fair well. Our first pitch was terrible and wouldn't have fitted our large tent on even though we had informed them of the size. Thankfully we were moved on request and placed on a nicer part of the site. Then came our next problem we paid £72. 00 for electric hook up and on moving to the next pitch the electric hook up was unavailable. Having annoyed my husband they finally managed to sort out our issues.

The pitch we had was on the back rally field, next to a lovely family with nice children the same age as our own. However a little further down the site, the playground area was swamped with unruly and unsupervised children. Needless to say we didn't allow our kids to play on the park. The arcade was entertaining and often made off with our money. No staff/lifeguard available in the arcade or pool. The pool has to be booked in advance on a daily basis and is limited to 45 minutes. The facilities are adequate and they serve their purpose. No changing cubicles for privacy.

The toilets and showers are satisfactory but difficult to use with children. Could do with a seat inside the cubicle to aid dressing and help keep clothes off the floor and dry. It would also help if the water stayed on for more than 30 seconds.

Washing up facilities were ok, but the taps don't stay on. Making the job difficult and irritating.

On leaving the site, reception had closed and we were unable to have our £20 barrier card refund. Two weeks on we are still waiting for said refund.

Wouldn't choose this site again in the future. Enjoyable break due to adjoining family not due to site.

We visited Riverside for 2 nights to take advantage of the glorious weather. I have to say it wasn't the best experience I have ever had. Pitches were cramped and stony, other campers were loud, obnoxious and drunk. Frequently there was cursing right outside our tent by parents in front of their (and my) children. The shower block was smelly, dirty and uncomfortable. The only positive thing I can mention is the location is very convenient for Southport.

We won't be returning.

Just returned from this place and my only honest review is that it resembled Belsan with none of the charm! The pitch was covered in cigarette stubs, beer bottles and litter, the wardens were non-existent, the noise of the pub and its customers only served to drown out the noise of other drunken patrons shouting, swearing, fighting and their toddlers crying-understandably! Cars were repeatedly driving past the tent very close by which was terrifying, and this continued into the early hours. The toilets were an absoloute disgrace, looking as though a herd of wilderbeasts had been horribly unwell in there. The bins were overflowing, the taps was unmarked, the shop, launderette and all facilities were filthy!

We were meant to stay for two nights although the next morning we packed up and left, to their credit we were refunded the second nights cost (£25per night) plus a complimentary two night although weve no intention of redeeming this, plus an apology.

Couldn't possibly recommend to anyone who cares about safety or hygiene. Thoroughly disappointing experience unfortunately.

I had booked a 'quiet pitch with services' at the beginning of May. When we eventually found the badly signposted site we stopped at Reception which is housed, I think, in a former industrial building. We were issued with an electronic card for the entrance barrier, a key for the w. C. That is allocated to pitch no 51, which we were given, and a pass to Saturday night's entertainment which we declined. Finding pitch no. 51 proved to be a bit of a problem as well, but after going round the site following the instructions on the map provided several times, we saw a stone slab in the grass with the number on it. We had been looking for wooden posts which other pitches had. I got out of the car, took one look at it, metaphorically scratched my head wondering where our tent (on booking I stated its size) and car would go. That part of the campsite for tents only was so overcrowded that it reminded me of the Palestinian refugee camps we saw in Jordan a few years ago. If we had stayed there I would not have slept a wink throughout the three nights.

Back to Reception. We were then offered to pitch our tent anywhere we liked on the meadow which had no services, had the allocated w. C. Key taken from us, but were assured that we could take our airbeds to one of the hook-ups and use any toilet facility we fancied. So we chose a piece of flat grassy ground far away from other people to set up our camp. Then we heard the overspill Radio 1 thumping beat rhythm from a group of tents a long way off. That went on non-stop until midnight. It was a relief to see them packing up on Sunday. When we returned the pass card to Reception and to get our £20 deposit back on leaving I asked if we could have a refund for having an inferior pitch, I was offered a credit of £15 to be used against my next visit. I assured the receptionist that I would NEVER come again. I did not get a refund.

As we did not like the look of the amenities we only used the lavatories and showered at a friend's house.

We stayed at this campsite at the weekend on a traditional tent pitch for two nights (one adult, two children). The site is flat with areas of trees on the tent area so you can choose whether or not to pitch under them. Everywhere on the site including the toilets, potwash, showers, swimming baths were clean. Everyone seemed to be respectful and it was certainly not noisy after around 9pm. Drinks are reasonably priced in the bar areas. About a 15 minute drive to Southport.

Would definitely return to this campsite.

I stayed here on Saturday for 1 night with my fiancé,

I paid £18. 50 online for a grass pitch for a tent. It's possibly the most expensive pitch I've ever paid for in my life. I was told by the reception lady it's an extra £10 for electricity tent pitch. But the only thing we needed electric for was to inflate the giant air mattress we brought and the lady offered to let us plug in at the reception :) The weather was fantastic and we booked the pool a day in advance (as advised) You get 45mins in the pool but you do need to book the time in advance. The pool was ok and the spa was nice. BBQs are permitted and the on site shop is very good and not bad prices. There were 2 bouncy castles inflated that looked really fun, Friendly staff all round. In the evening we head over to the family bar where the entertainment was good, (2 men singing and playing guitar, a wide range of different types of music). The queue at the bar was a mile long and I remember looking at the only bar person and admiring her hard work because as she was the only bar staff and to be faced with a huge function room full of thirsty people. Well I couldn't have done it, one of the entertainment men helped hear and there, obviously he had his own job roll to do, but she was on her own 80% of the time and what an amazing job she did. The security worked so hard and was so helpful and friendly. The toilets are basic with no electric points but clean and tidy. Southport beach is about a 15 min drive, ainsdale (the nicer beach) is 30mins away, the site is friendly and so were the other holiday makers. No noise really, everyone respected each other. I think the site would benefit from a gate on the main entrance for keep children safe and security over all. Loved it and will be coming back, hopefully with a cheaper camping deal

I found this a good site. The facility's could do with an updating as there are no showers in a lot of the local blocks which have sinks and toilets. They are only available in the main block which is very busy at weekends. The staff were helpful and friendly. We have tried to book a pitch for this year and have been informed that they no longer accept tents, which we are very disappointed at, but the sales person said that the manager had maid this decision

This was my girlfriends first camping trip in about 20 years so I needed somewhere 'comfortable'

The showers, toilets and whole site. Exceptionally clean for a campsite. My girlfriend can be fussy when it comes to public loo's and even she coped.

The staff are all friendly and willing to help. We had a young group turn up next to us and the wardens regular patrols kept a can on most of their noise. (the wardens have a mobile if you have anything urgent)

The site has a shop, bar, arcade and pool (which is free). Southport is approximately 4 miles away and well worth a visit for the day. All in all I would recommend this place, it's well priced, well located and the staff listen if you need anything

Thank you, we will be back
