Good showers (powerful and free). Good shop. Good club for the kids and a bar for adults. Laundry expensive. Turn left out of the site ; after the roundabout there is a sign for The Shrimper; The food was great there and prices reasonable. You have to pay up front for your pitch and a deposit is required for the barrier key. We went to look at another site in the area and Riverside is the best one.

This is an excellent camp site with clean toilets and shower facilities although the outside washing up area was a good walk from our tent. The river around the site makes for a nice walk. the kids entertainment is great although a shame it's not on a friday night it lasts from 7.30 to 10.30. The site is very big and seems very off putting on arrival especially as to telephone numbers you are given are for police and the security, we encountered no need to use either number. You can pitch wherever you want so make sure you arrive early to get a reasonable pitch, the grass is well mown although the area could benefit from someone picking up left litter i.e. Cig ends. Not far from Southport and with a good shop and reasonable chippy on site makes for a good weekend. An 8/10 from us, not ideal for those without kids looking for a break away.

Very nice site we got there at 3.30pm and was set up by 4pm, the staff was very friendly the only problem we had was that we phoned to pre-book was told they was very busy they took our details and said they would phone back which they didn't but my husband phoned the following day and managed to book. The toilets and showers are very clean but the sinks for washing your dishes is a bit of a trek from where we pitched, the shop was very reasonably priced as was the chippy (the chips are lovely but the fish was a lot to be desired as it was mostly over cooked batter and the spam fritter batter was under cooked) but they do a variety of things like cooked breakfasts and they are open very late. there is a park for the kids to play on and a large field to the side of it for football and other games. The security guard circled the site in a van several times during the day plus if you have any problems i.e noise you are given a number to phone and the security guard will come and sort things out. you are given a booklet when you arrive with useful phone numbers on the front and in side is a list of rules and regulations. over all we had a great time the kids enjoyed them selves and we will defiantly go back again. Just like to say thanks to the staff for a nice stay.

Just come back from 2 nights at riverside.myself,2 adults and 5 children. First impressions when booking staff really friendly and helpful.on arrival staff helpful and soon set up 2 tents. First night good evening had by all. Slight probs with other children trying to push our two youngest of play area but rest of evening went well at tent side. Sat morning dog poohed outside sis in laws tent. When asked lad to pick it up he refused and she went to his caravan to speak to parents who told lad to fasten up awning and she'd go away. When she went to reception the lady was very unhelpful and said she was dealing with other matters. Sis in law removed pooh. Shower block shut for cleaning 10am till 11am. Fine but then other toilet block closed for cleaning at 10'15am. Slightly inconvenient! Sat night went well. Didn't visit club could not comment however if campers in near by tent where anything to go off, glad I never. Was woken twice in night by nearby campers shouting and talking extremely loud. Ok its an holiday but at 5am (sun morn) things really got going and two GROWN men were running round neighbouring tents fighting and screaming semi naked. Someone phoned security number given at start of hols: answerphone. Phoned local police num given: incorrect number. 999 phoned and police could not gain entry to park because of security barrier. ALL campers in tents up from 5am. Eventually police gained access When returned toilet keys at 9am reception were totally uninterested and just said what could they do. No apology. No offer of refund and NO HELP. Even though several of us complained.u

NO DOG POO OR NOISE FROM CLUB. Cheap shop and Chippy. Clean showers and toilets. Nice children's play area. Very friendly people. Went with 3 young children and had a great weekend. Can't wait to go again. Ground was nice and even. Only 5 miles from Southport with regular buses.

BRILLIANT campsite. Excellent tent pitches, nice safe play park which my 3 year old daughter loved. Great nightlife with a kids club which I enjoyed as well. Lovely river running at the back of tent pitches great for a spot of fishing. Lovely warm clean showers and toilets. I found the shop and chippy were very reasonably priced. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back soon.

Stayed here for the weekend. Didn't arrive until about 8.00p.m. But was met by the security guard with all our details, keys and a map of the park. We unhooked and really struggled with the awning as the pitch we were given had not grass verge at the side in order to peg down. We did however do the best we could but in the morning we woke up to an awning flapping about. Because we only had hard standing with lots of loose stone all the pegs had come out and did not hold the awning down at all. We did decide to take it down as the weather was scorching. Weekend of the world cup everyone in high spirits, flags everywhere. We had an excellent time, everyone was friendly. The new toilets were spotless, and the site was very well kept. A couple of play areas for the kids and lots of space to play football etc. We would definitely go back but would make sure we has a pitch with grass at the site to peg down the awning. Highly recommended.

Spent two weekends at Riverside and enjoyed every minute. Very quiet and peaceful. The showers and toilets are very clean and maintained to a high standard. My youngest is 16 and too grown up to run around so it was great to see young children enjoying themselves. Friends of ours where in the next caravan to us with their young son, being friends we decided to to go with them to the club for children and surprised ourselves by enjoying the magic show and other games. We are back there this weekend (12/5/06) and booking again for the next Bank Holiday, CAN'T WAIT.

Its a brilliant campsite with entertainment for kids at night ie puppet shows, kareoke, dance competitions. There are showers, toilet blocks . You can put your tent wherever you want, it also has private caravans on the site. It has small parks for the kids and also has a night club where people travel for miles to go there. Its especially good if you like line dancing as they love it there. And your only about 10-15 mins drive from the beach and the pleasure land full of great rides with special offers on wrist bands for the week
What more do you need as well as all the shops in the town and a local bus comes to the site to take you to town, beach, fairground.

After reading other reviews we were a bit worried about going to this site. We are a group of 6 adults and 6 children all in 3 tents. What a suprise FORGET all the negatives you read, no dog muck, no waterloged pitches clean and warm showers, how anyone can say the chip shop is expensive I dont know - £10 for 10 chip buns ! and nice friendly staff all over site. As for noise from the nightclub I think if you can hear it turn your hearing aid down it must be set too high. Yes some of the site is a bit uneven SO PICK A FLAT SPOT TO PITCH. Over all we had such a great time we stayed an extra night and have booked to go again. Thanks to the staff from all the crew for making it such an ejoyable stay.
