First camping trip! Got a 4 man tent and all the accessories! Chose this site as we were going to a Deli car meet nearby. Site clean and well kept. Toilets cleaned daily and were shut in stages for this. A bit noisy at night but seemed to be quieter after 11.
Childrens play area in site of camping area and suitable for both of ours 6&4. Food available on site and good portions, got 2 lots of chips to go with our barbie and could easily have got away with 1 between the 4 of us. Weather not brill on the night (although we escaped the thunder storms) but it was lovely to see the kids playing and running around with others outside the tent when it was sunny in the afternoon.
Lots of space to pitch and a lovely atmosphere. Need a bigger tent for when it's raining though! Would visit again if in this area.

Easy to access location, friendly staff, well maintained site, choice of pitches (at varying prices), clean and plentiful toilet facilities, onsite chippy, onsite shop, onsite gym and pool, onsite laundrette, dog walk, purpose built play areas for kids.

If, however, you are looking for seclusion / peace and quiet this may not be the site for you. The music from the onsite club was audible until the early hours of Saturday morning. The site is on a busy dual carriageway and the traffic noise is also audible. There were lots of kids on the site, not all of whom stuck to their (very nice) play areas and not all of whom retired to bed very early.

We paid £22 per night for a large gold pitch (part hard standing, part grass) which is quoted on their website as having:

'Super Pitch with Electric Hook Up and Water and Drainage Facility'.

There was no drainage facility but apparently this is 'coming soon' - perhaps they should wait until it arrives before advertising it on the website?

If you like to party and / or have kids to keep entertained, this site is probably just what you are looking for.

Used this site to try out our new trailer tent. When I phoned I said I had a trailer tent and they put me on a gold pitch (Hard Standing) which has water, electric and Waste drain. It was £22 per night (fri, Sat).

Our pitch was situated near the 2 play areas. Our Kids (5 & 3) really enjoyed themselves and were never off the playgrounds they were clean and fun!. Went to the childrens club on Saturday at 7.30. It was a bit of a disco with a meet & greet with the funky monkey(He had a new costume!) and then party games for the kids ( Dancing, musical chairs etc)

This is a nice clean site with the toilets / showers cleaned daily, shop was a bit poor for the size of the site, but had basics & Papers. Staff were friendly, never tried the chippy.

Only gripes where when I bought drinks at the bar and asked for a glass of iced tap water only to be told not allowed to give out tap water! Also swimming pool is expensive @ £32 for a family of 4 for a 2 day pass. You'd be better off going to Splashworld in Southport.

Will be going back in the future.

We have just spent a fantastic weekend at this site, ordinarily I would not go to a camp like this as I prefer somewhere a little more quiet but my sister, her partner and their children aged 2 and 4 were with us so we wanted somewhere with things for the kids to do. It was perfect for what we had in mind, our niece and nephew, who have never been camping before absoloutly loved it, it was like going on holiday in the park for them, with 2 great play areas and loads of space to run around.

From the beginning the staff could not have been more helpful, we wanted to book our campervan and a tent for my sister close to each other so we were given a camper pitch at the end of the row within spitting distance of the tent field, when a group of teenage boys invaded the young childrens play area they were ejected within minutes, it was cleaned regularly, the bins emptied several times a day, the toilet blocks and showers were plentiful, as for the late check out fee, we went to reception to pay it as the kids were having such a great time and were told we didn't have to.

There are wardens onsite and you are given their mobile numbers when you check in.

My only real critism would be the amount of traffic, which isn't the fault of the camp although a lot of people failed to adhere to the 5mph speed limit and I feel that with so many children about something should be done about this.

We didn't try out the bar as the childrens club started a 7.30 which was a little too late, though we did try out the chip shop, the chips looked like they'd be fried more than once but the potato scallops were fab.

Southport is a few minutes drive away and I would recommend this site to any one with children from babies to teenagers as there is loads to keep them occupied. I hope any other campsite I take my 4 year old nephew to lives up to the benchmark set by riverside.

Just returned from Riverside having stayed over the Bank holiday weekend.

The children's club is now open on Fridays as well as Saturdays and on most nights of the school holidays. This weekend it was open on Sunday as well.

The dog walk area and the main road through the site had plenty of dog bins and I didn't see any mess on the exercise field.

The showers were warm & powerful and there was a hook in the corner behind a curtain so all your clothes remained dry. Cleaning was between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site, in fact we're going back again on Friday.

Stayed here to try our new trailer tent out. What a great clean site, very well set out, and very importantly, the toilet and cleaning facilities were spot on. The club where you can take the children into , needs a bit of a renovation, but this really isn't a problem. Overall ten out of ten for the camping facilities

Just returned from a 3 night easter break. Lets start with the plus parts, the pitches are large on gravel (all service) and the two play areas are nice. The toilets and showers are immaculate. The touring park is really nice. The negatives, the childrens club only opens at 7.30pm which is too late for people with younger children, I have two girls who love dancing but are usually tucked up in bed by 8pm so we felt that this was late, and they kept you waiting some nights for 5 or 10 mins, the weather was freezing! The childrens club was what we felt a bit shabby and could do with a refit! There was nothing to do during the day, you have to leave the site if the weather is bad. There were lots of gangs of teenagers hanging around the site, swearing and playing on the young childrens park, I did not want my children to listen to the language so we stayed away. The electricity on the site tripped everyday and sometimes it went 3 times a day. My main gripe is the £20 deposit you leave for your key, if you dont check out by 11am they deduct a fiver! this is a total rip off as you cannot go on until 12.30! these sites are taking advantage of us and just want more money, you pay per night but you have to cut short your weekend because the time to leave is 11am or pay another £5.00! I think 12 would be a reasonable time to vacate your pitch and the time of arrival should be 1.30pm?? The staff are friendly, this could be a top class site, however, it is let down by the above

From the time we booked to the time we came home we had a lovely time down by the riverside, ha ha reception looked after us and were helpful and they were very busy as we arrived on a friday evening which as you all know is the busiest time to arrive.
We were on a silver pitch and thought it was good value, the club was open for most evenings apart from friday the staff that run the funkey monkey club are all volunteers so a big well done to all of them, the shop was ok and reasonably priced, the chippy was excellent the fish is superb and pizzas are gorgeous
We went into southport to the new splashworld, a bit dissapointed because one of the water slides was not in use but we got a reduction in price because of this.
Going back to riverside, the toilet block was warm clean and well maintained, some idiots had done their best to throw toilet paper about, but when asked for it to be cleaned, it was without grumbling.
The dog walk is ok and the surrounding area ok the grounds are well kept and have been much upgraded a credit to the staff overall

Having just come back from Riverside I have to say I had a great time.
The club was very nice, the site was clean and the wardens were round a lot, good to see. I took my dog on the dog walk, was lovely and long, only comment on that was the lack of poo bins so some people didnt bother picking up after their dogs.
The chippy was good enjoyed my fish supper
All in all a good weekend.

We visited Riverside in August to test our new tent. We got a pitch really close to the toilet and shower block which was great for us.  The staff on reception were great, really friendly and helpful. The park for the children was lovely and kept the children entertained. There was also lots of space for the kids to play ball games and was not at all cramped. The shop is very reasonable and well stocked and the shower and toilet block was exceptionally clean and modern (the best we have seen by far!).
The clubhouse on site is great for the kids disco, ours loved it. There was a disruption by one family who were immediately asked to leave and they were off the site within the hour.

All in all we found this to be one of the best sites we have visited. The only down side was that the wind comes straight over the fields and makes putting up a 10 man tent quite difficult!
Will be revisiting in September and taking my sister and her children too.
