3rd visit here and will certainly be back again. Warm welcome, large well maintained pitches, clean modern washrooms plus good games room and play field.
Great pub food next door. Small shop selling most of what you would need. Would recommend for anyone.
Very handy for flamingo land, pickering, dalby forest, and steam railway. Lots of local things to see and do.

Have a few good and bad points about this campsite but since there are less bad ones I will do them first.
I called the campsite to book a weekend away. All was fine UNTIL I told them me and my party were only 18 years old and the person I was speaking to tone of voice completely changed. He seemed very age biased and seemed as though he was warning us by speaking impolitely and in quite an aggressive tone, so I was not happy that because I'm 18 they assumed I was going to be a problem when in fact, we camp all over the country and have never once even been 'told off' by anyone on any campsite.
Secondly, the showers are cold for the first few minutes, as are any but they are push button showers and having to keep pushing the button is quite the annoyance.
Fortunately, the bathrooms were very clean. Pitches were level and upon arrival I was greeted much more nicely by a woman and was shown around and got to even choose which pitch we wanted. The small shop in the entrance served huge purpose as we forgot many things so managed to pick them up from there. The games room was ok but was a bit shabby but nothing bad for children/teens. We enjoyed it. Also, the Black Bull Inn just infront of the camp was reasonably priced and tasted great. The camp was relatively easy to find but would recommend that anyone going there should use a Sat Nav. Either way, I will be going back to the campsite as I think they realised they'd made a mistake thinking we'd be a burden.
Despite the problems, I must say, I had a brilliant weekend.
PS. Great for any theme park lovers, Flamingo land is less than 10 minutes down the road and is signposted from the camp onwards.

We had a fantastic stay here at the end of jubilee weekend and over the following week. The owners were very nice and helpful when our electric hook up cable was too short. The pitches were spacious and relatively dry considering the huge amount of rain we had. Showers were brilliant, toilets very clean and smelt nice (for a change :) ) it has a brilliant playground for the kids which was relatively modern and in good shape. I do feel it would benefit from a gate however as children are free just to run out on to the campsites inner circular road. It has possibly the smallest shop I have ever seen - this is no bad thing as it still amazingly has everything you could need from BBQ's to ping pong balls to cereal to milk, burgers tampons and deodorant! the games room is a little dated but serves its purpose well. Ideal for kids of all ages - including me and my kids :OD all in all a fantastic site - we will definitely be using it again!

We have just returned from our first visit to the Black Bull and it will certainly not be our last. The welcome and check in process was friendly, efficient and quick and we were soon pitching in our spacious and clearly defined, flat pitch. The toilet facilities looked newly refurbished and were always clean and inviting with lots of hot water. Similarly the dishwashing area was always clean and tidy and we never had to queue. There is an excellent dog walking area with plenty of poop bins and the only sad thing is that some dog owners still cant be bothered to use them when the site owners have been considerate enough to make it easy. There is a games room and brand new children's play area but we didn't use either so cant comment further. Pickering is a mile away and there is a pub on site. It is on a main road but we were not troubled by traffic noise either by day or by night. We will be back

Just had our 1st visit to the Black Bull caravan site what a fabulous time we had, pitches very spacious well set up. The showers and toilets were absolutely spotless as was the washing up area. Well stocked shop and very reasonably priced not over the top like some we have stayed at. Very relaxing site very peaceful. Loved it that much we have booked again for August bank Holiday. Owners were very helpful. Excellent placed for trips out Whitby Scarbro & Brid all about half an hour away, Pickering only a couple of minutes away in the car. We will be making this one of our regular places to stay. Value for money

Stayed 8 nights 2 adults and 3 children. Good site with easy access to the surrounding area. Good large level pitches on well designed site. Modern toilet block which was kept clean but not heated. Plenty of water points but waste water empting point a long way if sited on far end of site ( which we were ). Good children's play park and an indoor games room. Only 10 amp electric which kept tripping out. Would stay again, but I would check weather forecast first, site flooded after heavy rain fall.

Well, further to previous reviews, found this site really good, bigger than we thought, but not that big to be impersonal. Must say the staff- great welcome, toilets - spotless ( heating needed for winter would have thought ) pitches great, pub - sound nice meals, reasonable prices, would we go back ? For sure ! Had a small park for the little, uns, bus stop outside to Pickering/ Whitby /Malton, what more can one say ? This site is ideal to traverse the area.

Just stayed here for the weekend and the place, although being next to a main road was very quiet with only Tourers and Motor Homes being brave enough.
The toilet block is very modern and clean and the lady on reception who may be the owner was very helpful when we found our leccy hook up cable was too short and she lent us a longer one.
The site also has a nice long dog walk, good and modern children's play park as well as a private static area.
It offers good access to Dalby Forest and the Yorkshire Moors but the pub (which isnt connected to the site) was very poor and I'd seriously consider eating elsewhere as the food was bland, expensive and the place itself was like a library in terms of atmosphere, oh and no heating on too!

This campsite is definitely one to go to if you want to stay at Pickering. The owners seem friendly and attentive to their guests in addition to the facilities which are spotless. If you have a baby, a baby bath with stand can be borrowed which is very handy indeed.
The children's play area is lovely and certainly kept my child entertained for some time.
The Black Bull Pub which is situated in front of the caravan site is owned and managed separately. The food there is inexpensive and copious and are child friendly too.
One thing to note though is the check in is at 1pm and entrance space is limited, so rather than trying to arrive early (like we did), leave it closer to the arrival time.
So, if you want to camp around this area, I would recommend this place to anyone.
