We have just returned from the Black Bull Caravan Park, staying in a tent for 4 nights. What a lovely place to stay ( would highly recommend this site) The site is very spacious between the tents and is kept well maintained. The staff are very pleasant and very helpful and always on hand for advice on places to eat and places to visit. The site is situated in a great place ideal for walking into Pickering and driving to the Scarborough coast, flamingo land and many other places. The site is well looked after and the shower and toilet block is always kept clean. There is also a brand new games room for the children and a new reception area and shop on site. The playground area and crazy golf are also a great place for the children to enjoy a bit of freedom. There are plenty of places to eat from the black bull pub to Spencers just over the road. You can also order Pizza takeaway to be delivered to the site and is very reasonable priced and tasty. We hope to keep coming back to the Black Bull Caravan park and are already looking to book for next year. It's worth every penny we pay and we always have a great time.

This was our first ever caravan touring holiday and we were lucky to have gone to the black bull caravan park. We rang to book and they were very helpful and friendly, on hearing this was our first time touring the lady emailed us directions on how to get there without going to Sutton bank and the directions were spot on. When we arrived we were shown around the site given a key for the toilets/showers which were very clean and we were given a map of other useful things Eg. Dog walk play park recycling we ordered our newspapers everything was made so easy by all staff. We will definitely be going back hear again it's so close to Pickering and there are 2 car boot sales within walking distance on Saturday and Sunday mornings. This is definitely a 5* site

We visited this camp campsite as we wanted a campsite close to flamino land, (1. 8 miles took us 8 minuites) perfect we stayed for 2 nights we took no food as we wanted to try the local foods and there is plenty choice from fish and chips, Pizza, curry, indian and so much more in pickering then you have the black bull pub on the entrance to the site which was fantastic and then just for good measure you can go to Lidl buy a disposable bbq and hire the bbq stand from the main office and away you go.
On arrival great staff shown where everything was and there's a little shop that has most emergancie gear you would need.
We went with another family so 4 adults and 4 kids from age 3 to 14 and they really enjoyed the park, football field and games room.
Our pitch we had 59, 60 Which were about 2 thirds ďown the stretch we had no problems using the toilets both the shower block and Porter loos (which are not what you think with hot water, lights and ceramic loo)where both spotless I even caught the owners cleaning them on more than one occasion a day.
This is a family site with the normal no noise after 2300 with the main gate also being locked at this time and it was nice to see someone going round to make sure all is as it should be.
All staff where very friendly and happy to chat.
And finally we forgot our kettle but go up to the reception which has a lovely coffee/tea machine at £1

We booked this site by phone at short notice in order to take advantage of a reduced price offer on the nearby North York Moors Railway. We had a little trouble identifying the access approaching from the south - there's a couple of slightly misleading signs - but it's obvious when you spot the pub. There's a shiny new reception building and check-in was friendly and straightforward. Our pitch was large and had a level, stoned strip more than big enough for our MH. The camping field is quite large - we were near the entrance but it would've been a long walk to the facilities block from the far end. The block itself is quite modern and was clean throughout our stay - the showers had good warm water and push-button taps. There's an excellent MH service point, albeit with a rather slow tap. Basic groceries are available on site and you can order daily newspapers. The wi-fi is free - it's a bit slow, but that's a function of the local network, not the site management.
Reception provided us with a timetable and we were able to get the bus from a stop just outside the site for the short ride to Pickering in plenty of time to catch the first train of the day to Whitby - it was traditional day out to the seaside by train which was hugely enjoyable. We also had a respectable meal at the adjoining Black Bull pub which, as others have noted, is a friendly and convivial place to spend an evening.
Altogether a useful find and reasonable value at £22/night including hook-up.

Just returned from a Bank Holiday visit to this lovely site! We booked back in January and the lady taking the booking was very helpful getting us sorted (we were awkward as only wanting 2 nights on a BH weekend) nothing was too much trouble. Upon arrival we were greeted by the wardens, checked in and shown to our pitch which was a good size, hardstanding and private from the one next to it by a neatly trimmed hedge. Our children enjoyed the play area which we were close to so could keep an eye on them and the water point was opposite the pitch also. Site is very easy to find being on the main road into Pickering. The site is tidy, nicely landscaped and quiet at night, we never heard a peep! There's a well stocked shop on site selling the essentials and newspapers are available to order. Toilet block is pleasant, clean and modern, free showers on a push button and cubicles are a good size. We will definitely be returning as there is so much to do in the surrounding area -we spent the day on the NYMR.

First time visit to this site and I would highly recommend it, absolutely spotless. Spacious pitches that are level and very well maintained, all the facilities (chem disposal, waste water) excellent, shower block, fully heated, plenty of showers and spotless, very clean. Little shop stocks essentials and the designated dog walk is a bonus. A fantastic site for couples, singles or families.

Well, went here a couple of years ago, and as luck would have it, it was dry.
Not this time, now I know that campsite. Es can't control the weather, but although we were on a gravel pitch, they weren't using the grass pitches, which is fair enough, but the gravel is in a 'P' shape on the pitch, which is fine and dandy if all is good, but it means if you put your unit right to the back, yes you come out on to the hard standing, but to get off the pitch you have to go over/ through the mud, we had to put our old grip track down, like duckboards, why they just can't make the first bit of the pitch the same width as the back and ' flare 'the entry to the to the pitches to prevent grass damage, positives. Pleasant staff, spotless toilets, the showers weren't working properly, though we were advised to use the static side, but hey ho, Spartans are we !
The pub outside the site is ok, bit top heavy on the beer prices though, go bang over the road to Spencer's and save £1. 20 a round of two drinks, the food is ok at both venues, again, Spencer's is that bit less expensive,
Go again, well would, but keep me eye on the previous weeks weather !

Probably the best site I have been on. staff very friendly. pitches well set out. toilets and showers good. in a good location for touring Yorkshire coast. pub right next door with good food and beers. The only downside, there are two, it is right next to busy main road traffic day and night. The other thing was the electric hook up one box covered four pitches, my cable just about reached it. But overhall a very good place. 9-10

We have stayed at the Black Bull for the last four years for a week in September. The site is always spotless and well maintained and is in easy reach of the coast. It is also just a short walk into Pickering. The facilities are excellent, showers are always hot. We would and have recommended the site to family and friends.
We have also stayed at their sister site at York and would recommend that site as well.
