Spent 2 nights here last weekend and really liked the site.
Very family friendly, with helpful staff, a small shop for essentials, ice-creams, etc. And a nice play area for small children which our children enjoyed. Showers and washing-up area were clean and sufficient.
Other campers were friendly and the site had a relaxed feel. We had a lovely big corner pitch too. Site was pretty full but didn't feel cramped at all. Good value too at £20 per night inc. electric for family of 4.
Close to Pickering (with co-op, chippy, etc.) and other small villages. We would definitely stay here again.

We went here over Easter as part of a block family booking, two caravans and one motorhome. The owners ensured that we were all together, and even managed to squeeze in a friend with a last minute cancellation. The owners were helpful and friendly, and gave a guided tour of the park to point out the features.
The site was fully booked over Easter, but did not appear crowded. The playing field was a great boon, as was the fenced children's play area. The toilet blocks were never full, and the showers were warm and clean.
The on site shop had the essentials, but Pickering is only a couple minutes drive along the road. The on site pub is not up to the high standard of the site, but it did supply a reasonable meal for 8 adults and 5 children on the Sunday. Overall, a very good site, and a good base for North Yorkshire.

Stayed 3 nights over the Bank holiday weekend, 2 adults and 2x 13yr old boys. Made to feel very welcome on booking in, was given information on facilities and directed to our pitch.
The pitch was very spacious and flat and our large tent, car and trailer had plenty of room to fit on. The boys really enjoyed the large field as it had football nets. The games room was really good with table tennis, pool, vending machines leather settees, TV and a very convenient change machine.
The toilets and showers were excellent They were constantly being cleaned. There were 4 toilets and 4 showers in the ladies and to say it was the bank holiday and the site was full I never had to queue once! Pretty quiet site and 11pm rule was adhered to. Never visited the Pub or used the shop so can't comment.
Overall excellent site and lovely area would recommend and we hope to return ourselves in the summer.

In summary, site is excellent, 9 out of 10, pub is poor, 2 out of 10
Stayed for 4 nights over bank holiday weekend. Owners were very helpful on arrival, showed us to our pitch which was very spacious, and showed me best way to pitch to make the most of the space. Owner pointed me in the direction of all the amenities and advised of opening times, location of water, toilets etc. Possibly the most helpful site owner I have ever come across.
Playground for kids is well maintained, and games room with pool tables, table tennis and table football is handy for the older kids. Games field come in useful for those wanting to play football or run around.
Toilet block is well maintained and hot showers are always a good welcome in a morning.
Great location to visit east coast and north yorkshire moors.
Shop on site provides for essentials only, bread milk etc and is open all day. But if necessary there's a co-op in pickering or a petrol station just 2 minutes drive down the road.
But if you're after a drink, forget the pub and walk 30 minutes into Pickering. Staff are rude, took 20 minutes to get served and despite advertising a deal on sunday lunches from 12-8, when we arrived at 5.30 they'd sold out so had to order from the normal menu.

Spent one night here over the bank holiday weekend. It's a large, well-maintained site with helpful staff. Showers were spotless, spacious and there were no queues, pitches are large and there is a games room too.
The site is behind the Black Bull pub, which isn't a place I'd be desperate to return to. Some of the staff were rude, as if they were doing me favour by serving me, even though I'd waited at the bar for 20 minutes. After ordering food, 2 members of staff squabbled over whether I should've been 'allowed' food! The food arrived to my table 1 hr and 20 mins later and was no better than average.
Campsite - good. Pub. Go into Pickering just two miles down the road!

Just back from another visit to this excellent site. It is a while since we last visited here and further improvements have been made.
Nearly all pitches are available with electrics except the ones down the bottom of the site near the beck. Pitches are of a generous size and the grass is well tended.
The children's play area has been updated and now fenced in. The showers and toilets are still spotlessly clean with plenty hot water.
The site is really well looked after and the owners are very helpful and friendly. £13.00 per night during the week with electrics is a reasonable price.
Went to Black Bull pub for a meal which to say the least was disappointing. Very small portions not value for money. Well worth a visit to Thornton Le Dale which is on he way to Whitby. A very nice village with a stream running through it and a pond full of ducks. So take plenty of bread.
For those of you who like a walk The Hole of Horcum is approx a 5 mile walk which is quite easy and has some lovely views. This again is on way to Whitby past Thornton Le Dale. Large free car park on right hand side of road and great views of the Hole of Horcum from roadside. If you do visit we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Just got back from easter break good site very tidy big plots. Shower block good lots of free hot water and clean apart from kids not knowing how to use a mop. Very helpful at reception 4 caravans pulled in same time so entrance blocked for 5 minutes one grumpy static owner blocked in but only 5 minutes.
Nice pub on site. Copper dragon spot on. Good play park on site and decent games room.Pickering only mile walk nice town.
Only gripe if your at bottom of site its a good walk to clean your toilet and dirty water should have 1 and either end or in middle. But overall good site and cheer up static owners you don't own the site.

Visited this site for the first time and will definitely visit again next year. The site was well laid out with ample room for our large tent. The toilets and showers were immaculate. The surrounding area was wonderful to explore. The meals in the Black Bull pub were disappointing though. The pub was very busy, but when our meals eventually did arrive they were more like a childs portion.
We will definitely be back, but will give the pub a miss.

We have just returned from this site and will definitely be returning.
Toilets immaculate, 4 toilets and 4 showers, loads of room to shower with your little ones which was great.
Staff very friendly. We forgot our gas bottle and they were kind enough to loan us one.
Play area and games room were good for the kids.
Black Bull Pub just at the front of the site. Don't go here if your not hungry though, as the portion sizes are huge!
Only a 5 minute car journey into Pickering. Whitby and Scarborough about half hour away.
Our stay was a little wet but apart from the weather a great time was had by all.

Arrived early to get on site and was met by a man I think was the owner who said you'll have to come back. On our return we were given a map shown where the showers were etc, last ehu pitch on grass with shrubs either side a worn slightly muddy new laid grass pitch. If you do go to this site ask to go on the opposite side of the stone road to pitch 15 as it gets the sun in morning and most of the day, good early sun to dry your tent if your leaving. Its a field with cuts in the grass with stone laid and rolled flat, shrubs dividing the hard standing pitches at the top.
Shower blocks ok and clean when they've been cleaned, but a trek if you're at the bottom of the site, nightmare if you've young children. We've just got a thretford 345 toilet mainly at night for my 6yr old, well worth the money at 3am when goes himself. The road noise is quite loud and the pigeons woke us up at 5am. Kids playground is ok and games room not bad but tired. Pub was ok for drinks staff friendly food was standard pub grub. Overall the site did what it said on the tin
