We have just had a two night break at the Black Bull and I will certainly use this site again.
The rates for a tent, two adults, two children with electric were very reasonable.
The site is quite small but this adds a nice friendly atmosphere, the plots are very spacious and well kept. The toilets and showers were always spotless and the kids playground was excellent. There is also a field for ball games and a games room with pool tables and table tennis(this could benefit from a bit of work).
A nice pub(The Black Bull)at the entrance of the site which was good value and allow children. Excellent location with lots to do in area including Flamingoland only 5 mins away.
We will be returning year after year, keep up all your hard work.

Well again we made a perfect choice of campsite. There were rules, but to keep the standard this high you appreciate them and adhere to them.
The site was very well maintained, superb for families, older and younger couples. The facilities again were very good and live up to the reviews I had previously read of the site.
Last visit to the loo in the dark our torches could pick up young rabbits hurriedly hopping away! The pub the site takes its name from is fine, no gourmet chef, just 'pub grub'. The pub itself is really nice though

Great site with level and spacious pitches. The toilets are cleaned throughout the day and were always immaculate. The showers were free and water hot - just a bit too hot for smaller children but this is my only criticism.
5 year old loved the playpark and older daughter was happier in the games room or playing field.
Useful dog exercise area too.
The site is just off a busy road but you don't notice the traffic noise.
The reception office sold essentials like milk but there are several shops nearby for food.
The wardens were friendly and helpful and the site is convenient for trips to Scarborough, Whitby and the moors.

Enjoyed our stay as the place is central to York and Scarborough, they are only a short drive. Site is immaculate.
However, I did find the small opening to drive onto the camp extremely difficult and ended up scraping the side of my van. I am sure they could open that up more to make it far more easier for novice towers.
Would love to stay again but that entrance puts me off.

What a lovely friendly site, we booked last minute for a one night break to have a night away with friends (who were staying in a campervan - it was a party of 6 which was for 4 adults and two 18 month old children.
Upon booking over telephone I forgot to mention that we required electric hook-up & upon arrival it looked like we had no chance of getting it as they were all taken, but they did the best to help us & we did receive electricity which we were thankful for.
It was a lovely little site a short drive from town centre with a children's play area, the toilets were nice & clean & there was plenty of hot water. What was really convenient was the fact that it was hidden away behind the back of a pub that served lovely food & was child friendly but you were not disturbed by any noises from the pub.

This was our second visit to this site and we had a brilliant time, staying for 7 nights. The site is well laid out with ample space for even the largest tent.
Site owners were friendly and helpful and the site and facilities kept very clean and tidy. Lots of lovely places to visit nearby and plenty of things to do, even with two teenagers and a toddler in tow! We enjoyed our visit so much that we have booked up again for next month.

We visited the Black Bull site at the beginning of june, having booked for 3 nights, however upon arrival we were very impressed with the site and immediately booked to stay for an extra night.
We had been told about the site by friends who have stayed several times. To sum up: Toilets & showers were always immaculate. Pitch: Plenty of space, water point near bye.
Facilities: Playpark is superb, (we have kids 2, 5 & 11 and all were kept entertained here).
Facilities: Everything was very tidy, organised & well maintained and the field is silent by 11pm, the one criticism I have is the games room is a disappointment, with a little effort & money spent it could be a big hit with kids. As it is there are a few pool tables with no pool balls, table football and ping pong. That said, it did not detract from our enjoyment of the site.
The Black Bull inn: Staff very good and drinks fine, very busy for food though, we could not get seated on the one night we tried.
Lots to do nearby, Dalby forest is a must, especially the area around the visitors centre, take a picnic! Thornton le dale is very nice for a short visit, and Scarborough is only a short drive away.
To sum up this is an excellent site, ideal for families with young children. We will be booking for a return visit asap!

I found the pitches very spacious and level and didn't feel crowded. The playground, playing field and games room were great, owners friendly and toilets clean and well stocked up.
The Black Bull pub I found quite friendly and welcoming but didn't get a meal. Its an easy 30 min level walk into Pickering to look at the castle, church, pubs and shops etc.
Very nice site and I will definitely go back again.

Stayed tent three nights midweek, very quiet, peaceful until fri, was very busy up to start of the bank hol. Very helpful owners even though booked up last min,
Large pitch great size for tents, no extra charge for large tent, paid £17 per night very reasonable. Toilet block very well maintained, clean hot water, showers very welcoming in morning.
Games room brill, our son loved that, also the play park. Black bull food lovely, in fact we could take our dog into pub very welcoming staff, was in middle of being done up which looked lovely. Small play park back pub also great, will defo be booking up again very soon as great location.
Trip to Scarbrough well worth visit. Also eden camp.

This is a lovely site when it is not full! We stayed for a week, including bank holiday weekend. Over the weekend it was heaving. Once everyone had packed up and left on the Monday, the site was much more pleasant.
We did not get the pitch we were booked for however, meaning we were in the middle of a long line of tents / caravans, etc. We were meant to be on an end! Think someone must have asked to be moved as they arrived before us! This did affect us while it was busy.
The toilet blocks were generally clean with hot water. Push button showers are a pain but you get used to it! They always run hot though. Bit of a queue over the bank holiday weekend but fine the rest of the week, in fact I think we were the only people using them.
Pub at entrance to site, which isn't part of the site, was fantastic. We heard they had had a hard time over the bank holiday weekend but have to say, food was 100% and the chocolate brownies fresh out the oven were an absolute delight! The staff were fab and very friendly. We returned for Sunday lunch.
There is a fantastic farm shop just outside of Pickering, west along the A170 (Scarborough) for veg and meat. Try their own bacon. It is delicious! Went back everyday as it was so tasty! There's a nice little coffee shop there too that does fantastic coffee and walnut cake! MMMMMM!
Would recommend this site for groups or families. Try somewhere else if you want peace and quiet during busy periods.
