Just spent week here. Nice site very clean and tidy with very large pitches. Hard standing for van and awning. Black Bull Pub on site serves very nice food and never over crowded. Lots of walks around countryside or 1 mile into Pickering were you can take the steam train to Whitby. As we both have bus passes we used the bus from camp to Pickering which we found very useful and the coastliner goes to Whitby and Scarborough.

We stayed this last weekend for 3 nights/4 dayss at the Black Bull Campsite, the site was very clean and quite close to the Black Bull pub.
The Toilets & Showers where always clean and plenty of hot water, the washing area also was kept neat and tidy with plenty of hot water.
Check-in was smooth, the pitches are large and could easily accommodate our tents with plenty of space.
Childrens Play, Games Room and Ball field were all well used by our children.
Small onsite shop with the basics.
We had dinner one night in the Black Bull pub which was good, basic menu, beer okay.
Visited Flamingoland - which was great but needed a second day as too much to do in a day. Had the all you can eat pizza buffet for lunch which was good value at 6.95 for adults 4.95 for children.
Spent a day on the Beach at Scarborough, clean and good fun.
Visited Eden Camp - again a very good day out could easliy spend all day at this museum, good value at £5.00 for adults.
All in all a great weekend

This is a well maintained site. Thd owners are very nice and helpful.
There are ample, well maintained toilets / showers, but these are a good distance from some of the pitches. The pitches are generous in size. Dogs are welcome and there is a well appointed 'dog walk' to keep the toilet needs well contained.
At £19 per night inc hook up it was quite good value. Close to Flamingoland and a short drive from the North York Moors.
Main road very close and quite noisy.

We stayed at this site for three nights over May Day weekend. Our pitch was an electric pitch on hardstanding. The pitch was fairly spacious and flat. I found the pitch fairly private as it was separated from the other pitches with shrubs.
The toilet facilities were clean and spacious. There were four showers and three to four toilets in both the mens and the ladies. The showers were nice and hot, although you have to keep pressing the button to keep the water flowing. There was a laundrette and washing up facilities, although we didn't use these, they also looked clean and spacious. There are hairdryers in the laundry section for a charge of 50p.
The warden was very friendly and helpful. The reception area sold various items such as tea, coffee, milk, bread and ice creams. It seemed reasonably priced.
For the children there was a playground with a climbing frame, slide, swings, seesaws and bouncy animals. There was also a separte field for ball games and a games room with pool table etc.
We visited Flamingo Land on one day, which is less than a 10 minute drive away, and went into Pickering on the other day. Pickering is a lovely town and well worth a walk around.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay at the black bull caravan park and would not hesitate to return.
We paid £22 per night for a hardstanding touring pitch with ehu, awning and four adults and two children. Good value for money.

Just got back from a waterlogged visit to this site - but still had a great time. The times it wasnt raining the kids had a quick play in the park with all the usual swings & slides.
The showers & toilets were lovely & clean. As was the washing up area.
Ideal location for visiting the surrounding areas had a day at Dalby Forest which is lovely with loads to see & do.
Only criticisms are being close to the busy Pickering/Malton road can be a bit noisy - but for the price you pay to stay here can put up with that. Also on the Friday - think there was a stoppy back in the pub which is at the entrance to the camp site and was lots of screaming and carrying on till about 3a.M. Which did spoil it a bit as didnt get much sleep that night but at least it didnt wake the kids! There was no noise problems on the Thursday - noticed on the pub notice board its karaoke night on a Saturday - so could imagine a bit of noise then.
Even with those minor probs would not stop me staying there again but maybe just not over the weekend.

Only our 2nd time camping all though I have camped when younger with parents. Our party was 2 adults 3 children (7 - 13 years). The children loved the freedom and the facilities for them. Play area and games room. Husband loved the pub on the doorstep where they serve excellent meals and are child friendly. The toilet/shower block was always clean with plenty of hot water and toilet paper. The washing up faclities are clean with plenty of hot water and there is a laundry room with hair dryers, washer and dryers at a cost but not much. Rained quite a lot whilst there and parts of the field got a bit swampy but really enjoyed our stay. The people that run the site are friendly and always ready to help. Friends joined us for the last night who had never been camping before it rained and they still enjoyed it and are up for camping again. Would definitely use this site again.

Have just had 2 nights at the Blackbull campsite, it was excellent. Toilet/shower block kept very clean. Plenty of hot water for washing up and didn't have to pay extra for it either.
Lovely pub grub at Black Bull Inn. Would definitely go back to this campsite, did try to re-book for bank holiday but unfortunately left it too late as we only bought our tent a couple of weeks ago. Ideal location for Filey, Bempton Cliffs, Scarborough, etc.

Loved this site but the fantastic weather did help. Stayed for 4 nights from 26th July. Excellent facilities. Water in the showers very hot (so beware) my nine year old kept jumping about!. Showers and washing up FREE.
£17 a night for family of 3 with EHU
We had EHU with our tent so were pitched next to a few caravans but with tents opposite. Had a huge pitch with bushes around the outside. The children's playground is great, we were opposite it so could watch our daughter play.
Reception sells milk, eggs, water, things like that.
The Black Bull pub is on site as well, had a nice meal there on the Sunday.
Great spot for Dalby Forest, Scarborough, Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes.
Would definitely go back even if weather was forcast to be bad!

Black bull c/s what can I say fantastic, toilet block clean and modern, washing facilities great ,plenty of water pipes you don't need to walk miles to them. The small play area is just great for the kids, the games room also great for them. The pitches are ample around 10/10. The warden always happy to have a chat or give a hand we will be returning to this site in the near future

Visited this weekend 19th to 21st July. Weather was changeable with heavy showers which made the top end of the field boggy in places. There is a roadway but it doesn't go all around the site. Grass kept nice and well cut, tent pitches are of a very good size and are mixed in with the touring caravans. New shower block with 3 showers and a disabled shower and 3 toilets and disabled toilet in mens and womens.Entrance to showers etc by numerical keypad. Showers etc very clean even though site was a bit muddy and absolute lashings of HOT water. Very friendly owners and wardens nothing too much trouble. Re cycle all your bottles etc here and this is pointed out to you on booking in. Great Idea! Within easy distance of East coast and York. Pickering is a lovely town with plenty of pubs and cafes. Dalby Forest is a short drive away and amenities for walkers and mountain bikers are availble or you can just drive round. £7.00 per car and well worth it. All in all a well positioned site, with everything you need with cleanliness of a high standard. Will visit again.£12 per night!
