We stayed in a static caravan over Easter. Our caravan was superb. The owners went to great effort to make Easter special for the children with Eater bonnet, bunny decoration and Easter egg hunt competitions. No expense was spared to make this site top quality and we have booked again. Our Son and his wife and children were staying in their tourer and showed us the games room showers and facilities which were spotless. We also went on the crazy golf which is new to the site. Who could ask for more.

Well what can I say but it being an excellent campsite after visiting there for the 1940s weekend. The hospitality is brilliant and it has a good stocked shop in the reception area. It has a nice games room and play area for the children. It is also situated behind The Blackbull public house who do very nice meals. Across the road the newley built Spencers bar and grill it also is worth a visit. The location of the campsite is only a short walk to the showground where there is different things happening throughout the year. Just outside of the campsite is a bus stop where you can get a bus into Pickering or if you fancy to Thornton Dale or even Whitby. Overall a wonderful site.

This is one of the best sites we have visited. The Pitches are well marked, and there is a choice of grass and hard standing.
The site is constantley worked on, and is always in pristine condition. The toilet/shower blocks are very clean and there is constant hot water.
The people in the office are very helpful, they stock all the essential items, ie food and drink,
And even supply morning hot croissants and baguettes.
The site is very handy for Pickering ( 1 mile ) and also for the coastal resorts of East Yorkshire.
All in all a very good site. We shall return.

We thought this was a fantastic and friendly campsite, it has good facilities with a clean toilet block and a good field for pitching tents. The field did get a bit boggy during heavy rain. It was great for the kids who loved the park. We initially booked for us to attend flamingo land but really enjoyed site and made some good friends. We also enjoyed visiting other local attractions. We will definitely return to this site with the motorhome.

Hi,
Just back from Black Bull Site and experience matches reviews.
Toilets and showers are clean and well looked after but a bit of a walk if you are at the bottom end of the site (pitch 22 we where on).
A small shop and recreation room is on site with plenty of information on local attractions.
The Black Bull pub serves excellent meals (but not the cheapest)
You can walk into Pickering along proper a footpath (1 mile) passing the showground entrance on the way so if you are attending an event there (country & western event on) its a 10 minute walk.
Plenty of shops, steam railway and walks in Pickering and easy reach of Whitby, Scarborough and Goathland(Heartbeat village).

After my forth visit in four years for my main holiday, I and my family yet again had a great and relaxing time.
It is down to the great, clean and well tended Black Bull Campsite that we yet again next year will visit this family orientated campsite. Every year we are surprised by the high standards that are maintained and improved upon year on year. We've recommended this site to all our friends and also to anyone who reads this review.
Thanks to the team at Blackbull who maintain the high standards in the facilities and th friendliness of the staff.
A great addition is the new SPENCER'S bar and grill across the road, great food cheap prices, dog friendly and very welcoming. Roll on 2014. Thx to Blackbull & Spencer's.

Lovely campsite, owners very friendly you can even get morning papers delivered. Shower blocks and toilets are clean, goods washing up area. Pitches are a good size and they are not bothered which way you pitch your tent as along as you keep with in your area which is a refreshing change. They didn't charge extra for porches or toilet tents like some campsites. Wouldn't bother going in the pub thou very overpriced, go across the road passed upper Carr campsite and find Spencer's bar and grill, owners are really friendly beautiful place in lovely gardens food and beer excellent too, just gutted we only found it on our last night.

Spent just 2 nights at the black bull and it was very good. The site is well set out with large hardstanding pitches with plenty of grass at the side of each pitch. Pitches are separated by newly planted shrubs which give a a bit of privacy and which will be even more as they grow. Toilets and showers are very clean with plenty hot water with no charge. Order morning papers one day and they will be there the next. Plenty of information leaflets inside games room with quite a lot to do in there. Chemical disposal is very clean -looks new-and fresh water handy. Did, nt need anything from shop or use pub so cant comment. Bus service outside but walk into Pickering took 30 mins at leisurely pace. A very nice site, we will return and recommend. Cost only £20 per night.

Having been a regular camper on this site, we hadn't been able to stay for over 8 years. It was always a nice pleasant site to stay on all those years ago, but it has now changed to become even better! The site managers are very friendly and yet also have their fingers right on the button and know how to keep everyone happy. The site is level and well drained. The pitches are of a generous size (the only exception being pitches 52 and 72, which being in the bottom corner and are both at the entrance to the dog walk, don't give you a lot of privacy or outside space). Otherwise brilliant. Like other reviewers have stated, the toilet and shower facilities are second to none. Spotlessly clean, lashings of hot water and above all free. A very rare thing these days. There's a strict no noise policy after 11pm which was very welcome and gave the opportunity for an undisturbed night's sleep. All in all, one of the best sites we have stayed on. If your looking to escape the riotous party camp sites and are looking for a family site, then put this one on the top of your shortlist. You won't go wrong!

This is a really lovely site, pitches were a good size, flat and seemed well drained. Touring unit pitches are set in a sheltered field surrounded by high hedges. Small dividing hedges have been planted but are young as yet.
There are all the facilities you could want and toilets/showers were clean and modern. The kids really enjoyed the playpark and watching the tractors harvesting in the nearby field.
We ate at the pub one night which has a simple menu but the food was fresh and well cooked, especially the chips and steak and ale pie.
There is loads to do in the local area, Pickering is nice but busy and you are in easy striking distance of York, Whitby and Scarborough. You do need to use your car even to go to Pickering though, so bring plenty of change for parking.
The staff were lovely, we ordered papers etc and they were fine about us arriving late (9pm) on the Friday, although we did phone them to let them know. There was a mix up with our booking but they were able to sort it out with as little fuss as possible so all was well.
The only downside is the walk from the top of the tent site to the toilet block, there are two portaloos at the top of the dog walk as they are obviously aware that this is not ideal, but if this is an issue you might want to request a pitch at the nearer end.
This was the best holiday we've had in ages and we may well be back!
