Just spent 6 nights at this site. On arrival I was given full details of the site and told where my pitch was by the very friendly and helpful staff.
It was at the bottom end of the site and my friends who arrived later had been given the next pitch. The pitches were of a reasonable size and not too cramped even though the school holidays had started.
At night time there are strict rules to be quiet after 11 pm and it was, so a good nights sleep was assured.
The showers were hot and free (does anyone like those blasted push buttons) and the toilets were kept clean. If there is anything this site lacks it's another toilet block near the bottom end of the site, it's quite a walk to get there in the night or early morning when the need arises!
On the whole a very good site which could be great with another toilet block.

1st the welcome on arrival was lovely, staff explained where all the services were and gave us a plan of the site with our pitch number. The site is very well planned with large pitches not too close together.
Can be a little tight getting the car around the corner towards pitches in their 30, s as people don't pull their cars back enough onto the hardcore.
Lots of water points dotted between the pitches. There were a lot of children on the park but to be honest apart from one rude boy who obviously has no manners all the other children were very well behaved and no problems at all.
The black bull pub serves meals, we did not sample the food but did stop in for a quick drink and the pub looks lovely inside very welcoming and clean.
Shower blocks are accessed with a code these were very clean at all times of the day and never had to queue for shower or toilet.
We have re booked to come back at end of September as the park is very central to all locations on the east coast. Amanda & Nathan

What a fantastic place to stay arrived to a very friendly greating. This was our first visit and were shown were everything was. Our 2 girls headed to the park and games room whist husband and I set up.
Shower blocks kept very clean even though site was very busy. we were very surprised when we sent our daughter to get some burger buns, as we had left ours at home, for her to return telling us they cook bread and croissants to order in the morning, guess what we had for breakfast!
Have recommended to all our fiends and plan to return later in the year

First time at this site as a family with a 3 and 1 year old and was really impressed.
Nice big pitches and well laid out. We went as a small group (3 tents) and they were all together.
The park was great for both children and if you wanted to play ball games they have a field next door, which is a bit uneven.
Shop had a good selection of items, the play room with table tennis, pool and air hockey is a good option for older children.
Toilets and showers were kept clean and tidy and showers were great.
Would definitely go back.

Just spent a relaxing weekend at this site. Nice tidy well set out site with marked pitches, pitches are a good size. There is a small park looks new and well maintained and also a games room with pool and table tennis which was popular with our children.
The toilets were always clean and supplies kept topped up. The site has a little shop selling the usual basics. There is a pub at the entrance of the site but we didn't use it, think it is popular though.
Well located for the coast whitby and scarborough, the yorkshire dales, dalby forest and flamingo land close by.

Just returned from a weekend break at this site. I hope we will be returning many a time. The site itself is well maintained the toilet block and all amenities are well fitted out and kept clean.
A big plus for us was how well received our dog was, both at the camp site and the pub, so nice not to feel like an outcast because you have a dog! The dog walking area is great and it too is kept clean.
The pitches I would say are some of the largest we have been too.
Too sum up this camp site is for you if you want a high quality site which is well maintained and is in an excellent location to discover the North York Moors.

Just spent 5 nights at this site. On arrival we were told where our pitch was and left to get on with it. The site itself was average size but not cramped even though it was half term hols and the site was full most of the time.
We had our 12 year old son with us who found the games room to have all he, and the friends he made, could want so needless to say we didn't see much of him. On a night there are strict rules to be quiet at 11pm (more than fair in my opinion) and it was, so a good nights sleep was had by all.
The pub on the edge of the site served food but we didn't try, the beer garden had a draw all of its own in the hot whether we had, and sold real ale at a reasonable price.
Showers were hot and free and the toilets were kept clean all the time, the only thing the site lacks is another small toilet block at the rear of the site, as it is quite a walk to get there in the night or early morning if the need arises!
On the whole a good site which could be great if the toilet facilities were a bit closer.

We have just arrived back from a 5 night stay here with friends and it was lovely.
The owners are really friendly. The facilities were lovely and clean and were cleaned regular, with a lovely play area and games room which our children loved, little shop for everyday essentials, also a handy laundrette on site.
Plenty near by for days out of the site Pickering, Malton Scarborough, Flamingo Land and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Will go back again.

Had an excellent time. Kids had a wonderful time and didn't want to come home. We had our pitch next to the play park which was great. We had friends come and stay for there first camping experience, and loved the site, and we have all booked again for next year. Staff very helpful and friendly. Toilet and shower facilities excellent.
We stayed five nights and enjoyed our stay (we did have fab weather). North Yorkshire Moors Railway a great day out, also the Eden Camp was brill. Morrisons very close in Malton, with a Co-Op in Pickering
The Black Bull pub was very close, and served wonderful food. I have to agree that the quietness at night and the respect from other campers was great.
The pitch sizes were very large. Will be returning again as have already booked twice for next year. I agree 5 stars.

I totally agree with some of the comments made in March 2011. I was a bit under whelmed by this site. It was our first vist and it started off badly as we arrived in the evening and found that the two couples we were with were given pitches right at the other end of the site. None of us were together at al, on booking we were told we could book two places together but not three. When we looked around at the site there were lots of other people in groups who seemed to have not had a problem with this!
The next morning at 8 my husband went to see if we could move as there was a space next to one of our friends. The wardens were very unhelpful and said no we cannot move you (even though the person they did put in there was on their own. They had given us completely different pitch numbers to that which was on our booking forms! My husband said he felt that they were not going to do anything about it so he left the office annoyed. For the rest of the time there we had to wander back and forth the campsite with items of food, boiling kettles of water etc, trail our chairs one of thethe other pitchs and in the evening had to walk right round the campsite tothe other side in the dark watching out for the little iron protectors they have around all of the pitches for the bushes they are growing. As it is badly lit someone could trip over them and hurt themselves.
I am afraid I found the wardens rather unfriendly. A 'good morning' makes all the difference!
It is a shame as it is a nice site with a great pub in front of it which serves good food but it just didn't do it for me I am afraid and therefore we will notbe going there again. Made to feel as though we were not there to enjoy the experience, I have never been to a campsite that was so unfriendly in the 15 years I have been caravanning! My friends and myself are all professional people in our 50s not lager louts but that is how we felt we were being perceived.
