This is an absolute gem of a campsite, so friendly and helpful with a wonderful ethos. I love that it is community-owned and proceeds go to funding local community projects.
I stayed for 3 nights in April, a perfect base for walking sections of the beautiful John O'Groats coastal path, swimming at the North Baths and Reiss Beach, exploring Wick's harbour and history and wandering along the Wick River at sunset.
The campsite is in an ideal, peaceful location and only a 10 minute walk into town along the river.
I've already persuaded my sea swimming friends that we need a camping and swimming trip to Wick this summer and the Wick River Campsite will be the perfect base for us.
The only thing I would recommend is that it would be good to have a drying room on site.

Super campsite. Well maintained. Beautiful location.
Very warm welcome.
Handy for the town- just a 10 minute walk alongside the river. Great fish and chip shop on the harbour!
Lovely walks for dogs straight from the site. Super showers! Ideal stop on NC 500.
We did a tour of Old Pulteney distillery just before we arrived which was also superb. 10 minute walk from campsite though.

Stayed for 1 night with a 4x4 and rooftop tent.
The site was relatively quiet so we were given the option of a few pitches and chose one with a view to the river.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The site was well-maintained and clean. The toilet and shower block were good however my shower ran cold, my partners ran warm so unsure if this was specific to the shower I used.
The town is within walking distance with plenty of shops.
Would stay again and would recommend it.

A fantastic site! Excellent grounds/facilities. Beautiful location. Helpful and informative staff.
Aware that the shower block is 'a work in progress', however it was clean and there was plentiful hot water. Not much more to ask for really.
We look forward to visiting again.
Many thanks!

Lovely site on the river within a leisurely walk of Wick. We chose to stay here as part of our trip around the NC500.
The site is a community site and lots of work has been undertaken the showers are lovely and hot but in need of an update. A new shower block is planned the site is well maintained by lovely wardens.
We had a bit of a mishap when leaving and the super helpful wardens helped us get back on the road to continue our trip. The wardens went above and beyond and were some of the best ones we have met.
If travelling in the area I would recommend stopping off and supporting this site.

Lovely site.
Great location for the town. Not to far to walk but far enough away that road noise wasn’t an issue.
Site has a very tranquil feel to it. Made to feel very welcome.
Good facilities. Well maintained and very clean.
Would definitely stay again

Lovely caravan site, pleasant stay and we will be back.
Highly recommend this site, toilets do get busy but timing helps!
Well spaced out and very tidy and only a couple of minutes from town.
