Had a brilliant stay here, loved it! We have a large Motorhome and the owner came and met us at the local Tesco and escorted us down a river road into the site. There is a sign on the other entrance asking you to telephone if you are a larger vehicle so do not attempt to go under the bridge!
Such a friendly site and beautifully looked after. Key pad entry to toilet/showers and always found them to be very clean and tidy indeed!
Pitches are large and level and plenty of room between.
You will not be disappointed with this one and we will definitely return.

Had an enforced stop in Wick due to my wife becoming seriously ill whilst we were touring the Highlands in our motorhome. My wife was admitted to Cathness General Hospital for 9 days and had wonderful care. The campsite was ideal for me and was within a 10 minute walk to the hospital along the side of the river. The site owners were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. They keep the site so clean and tidy and the facilities were spotless. Wick has everything you need and there is even a large CO-OP store nearby. It was such a pity that my wife couldn't enjoy this lovely campsite, but now she is recovering we will certainly visit again once she is well enough for us to continue our holiday to this beautiful area. My thanks again to the owners for looking after me, and to all the friendly people of Wick and the brilliant staff of the Highlands NHS. Colin

Just back from one of my regular visits to the site in Wick. Once again Wick Caravan and Camping Site lived up to its normal high standards. As the sun was shining it made the stay all the more enjoyable!
I've noticed from a previous review that a visitor had difficulty accessing the site.
I access the site from the alternative road as my vehicle is in excess of nine metres long and had no problems. Whilst on the site I viewed an American RV which also used this road, without any issues.
The wardens' have always advised me to approach the alternative access road from the round about to get the correct angle, so I hope this review will ease any concerns. On most occasions the wardens' escort first time visitors along the alternative access route. If in doubt phone them, they're a lovely bunch!
I can't wait for my next visit and keeping my fingers crossed the weather is still good!

We had a warm welcome to this site.
The site shop is small with just a few basics (it was September though so near the end of the season for him) but wick is only a 5 minute walk or so.
The site is quite large, well laid out & secluded.
The facilities, keycode entry system, are dated & the cubicles small but all clean & plenty of them.
There is a river just outside the site so we did suffer a midge attack the next morning.
We only stayed a night as we were touring but all in all this is not a bad site at all & for £10 per night for a six man tent, two adults & two dogs it’s a bargain we think!
Would return.

What a great site to find. Its very well maintained and looked immaculate when we arrived. The owners a very helpful and friendly.
We arrived with a view of staying one night but chose to stay for two which wasn't any problem. The site is reasonably priced and has everything you need. The showers are hot and free but as said by others a bit cramped for drying space.
Short walk into town along the river which is a nice walk and Wick has everything you would expect from a coastal town. There is a play ground on the walk for kids (1-2 mins from the site) and also plenty of space to let the dogs go for a run straight off the site.

As said a little hard to find the entrance to but the staff are very welcoming. The site is well kept and clean.
Pitches are a good size
Toilets are a little small and there is no where to change in private and if your pitch is near the trees, as ours was, there is lots of flies during the day and midges at night, so we had to keep our door shut but
Other than that is was a nice site.

A fantastic campsite. The walk to town along the river is lovely and much shorter than the route by road. The site owner was really helpful and even gave us a lift to the beach on his way to do some errands!
The toilets and showers are a little cramped, but clean and well-maintained which I think is more important!
There is a Co-op supermarket about 500m away, but the campsite shop sells a few things if you're feeling lazy.
Reasonably priced too (for two hikers + tent at least).
Would recommend to anyone!

We visited this campsite with two children (ages 5 and 8) and they loved it. Being forewarned about the misleading entrance to the site, we were prepared (it's not that bad - you just drive past a couple of warehouses) and we were very warmly welcomed by the owner. Maybe this isn't a problem for most people, but we couldn't pay by card as there was no machine in the office, but the owner very kindly let us pay whenever we had the chance to visit the cash machine (at the co-op).
Despite the fact that we pitched our tent at the edge of the site, near the railway line, there were so few trains running (about two per day) that it wasn't a problem.
We had read all the previous reviews about the showers (agree, a little tight for space, but lovely warm water) and the toilet block was thoroughly cleaned every day.
The area around the site was good for us - the riverside walk provided an evening's entertainment (a little play park and an observation platform) and the co-op was easily within walking distance.
We stayed in Wick in order to do a day trip to the Orkney Isles (very good), but also ended up visiting Duncansby Stacks and Dunnet Head, which both provided a good excuse for a walk. If we were coming back to this part of the country we would definitely stay here again.

I have lived in Wick up until I was 23 and decided to come back with the kids for a long weekend. The camp site is picturesque overlooking the river but be ware the entrance is tight with a very low bridge to get under. If you have a motor home then there is a separate entrance down by the civilian shooting range that allows you to enter along a track into the riverside of the campsite.
The weather was amazing and we went on numerous cycle rides along the river. This was probably one of the best weekends we have had away for a long time.
There is not much to do in Wick however there is a new indoor soft play area at the Pultney centre next to the Pultney Distillery.
The wardens are very friendly, helpful and willing to accommodate. The camp site was spotlessly clean although the toilets are a little dated and were not very warm even though the weather was blisteringly hot. Good Satellite reception with no real obstructions
The heritage centre is definitely recommended for a visit and it's size is very deceptive. You think the place is tiny but it goes on and on and never seems to end.
There is a large Tescos near to the airport but very little in the way of decent shops in the town, with most seeming to have closed down. If you want to buy a kilt or accessories then definitely visit the Blackstairs Highlandwear, very helpful owner who is more than willing to try to accommodate your needs.
There is a public swiming pool down by the river and if you are a bit more adventurous on a nice day then try paddling in the 'TRINKE' victorian sea baths out by the old Coast Guard station.
Would definitely come back here again for another long weekend.

Upon arrival you may be concerned that the entrance is in a rather industrial looking edge of the town and you have to go under a railway bridge to get into the site. However once on the site you'd never know any of that was there - it's a beautiful site, very well kept. The grass was in pristine condition and looks as though it is cut regularly.
Larger campervans and maybe caravans won't be able to get under the railway bridge and you are advised to call for the warden who will escort you back into the town and through a park alongside the river. It was a bit disconcerting and you get funny looks from the dog walkers!
The pitches are all hard standing and are very big - you'd have space for a van, awning and car and there was plenty of room between them. The hookup points seemed quite new and safe which is more than can be said for a lot of sites!
The wardens were very helpful, friendly and chatty and were eager to please.
The shower block was ample but I did find it a bit strange that you were given a pin number to get in. Also the shower cubicles were rather small but the showers were good.
I did find that there were too many signs up around the site; 'no this', 'no that', 'drive like this' etc. I know they are just trying to keep the place respectable!
Just outside the park is a lovely river side walk with a playpark for the kids. You can cross the bridge and walk right into the town, maybe a 5 minute walk. There are some good shops and a nice chippy just up the hill.
