This is a big site. As you drive up the wide gravel driveway, you have to stop before the barrier and check in with the friendly staff at reception who give you a code which you need to get in and out of the site.

We had booked a woodland pitch and were given a choice of either of the two woodland areas (one more dense with trees than the other). The pitch we chose was in the less dense area and was fairly flat. As you would expect, there are a few pine cones, twigs and stones to move before pitching and also the odd root which you can't move.

As you move around the site, there are rows and rows of neatly lined up vans in numbered pitches and it struck me that this is the main market for the site owners. The tents have no defined pitches and it's a 'pitch where you like boys' affair which I don't normally prefer. However, there was plenty of space and there are rules to stop pitching too close to your neighbours.

We were told that it had rained for 3 weeks solid before we arrived. We didn't need telling. Every access point into and out of the wooded areas was a quagmire and we nearly got stuck with the car on a few occasions. They really need to lay some sand to soak up the water.

Having said that, the toilet blocks were very well kept although they were both closed for periods during the middle of the day, for cleaning.

The shop was well stocked and didn't seem too expensive. We didn't go in the pool, but it looked clean and we were told that it was around 28C or so.

The kids play area was very nice although as one other reviewer has noted, the sand is much more like builders sand and is full of what looks like small gravelly particles which stick to your hands and clothes.

The site itself was generally very quiet and well maintained. The only proviso I would put on that is that there are several aggregate quarries just down the road (you can see them on google maps) and they start very early in the morning. We heard the heavy vehicles in the distance from around 5:00. Important to note that they weren't loud enough to wake us up (that was our youngest), but they did stop me from nodding back off again.

Overall, a very nice site. We wouldn't go back in a hurry because of the early morning noise, but don't let that stop you.

The campsite was waterlogged after heavy rain. We opted to camp in the woods as the ground was drier!

The showers and toilets were clean, the children enjoyed the swimming pool. The playground was fantastic fun for them.

We all enjoyed freshly baked croissants and bread from the shop :)

Just back from 5 nights stay at Wareham Forest Park. We had a great time and would definitely go back again.

The park is in a great location, Swanage, Studland Beach, Corfe Castle and Lulworth are all within 20 mins drive, and well worth a visit. We went for a 'Rib' ride at Lulworth Cove (on a speed boat) which took us out to Durdle Dor, very exhilarating, but perhaps not for small children (our 2 year old screamed most of the way round).

'The Silent Lady' pub is nearby, but do not allow children in the bar, so we didn't go in.

Charmouth is great for fossil hunting, but does highlight the only weakness of Dorset as an area - The roads. Most of our local journeys were fine, but we found as soon as you hit a major 'A' road, everything snarls up. When leaving the site on our journey home, it took us 2 hours to do 30 miles. This is probably not news to most people, but we weren't expecting it to be that bad.

The park itself is very well kept, and the toilet / shower blocks are immaculate, free, with plenty of hot water at all times. We didn't have an electrical hook up.

We camped on the South edge of The Glade, right next to the caravan pitches. It gave us the best of both worlds, as the wooded areas are great for the kids (ours are 6 & 2) to run around in, but the toilet block is only 50 yards away!

The site is lovely and quite after 2230, so not really the place to go for party animals.

Very friendly staff, with a very well stocked shop open from 0830-2000, selling food stuffs and camping essentials.

The site has outdoor swimming and paddling pools, which are heated and quite popular in the sun, but never got over crowded while we were there.

The Children's playground is surrounded by a large expanse of grass for ball games, and has some benches and tables for parents to sit at while the kids play.

If I was asked to be hyper critical, my only slight gripes would be the gravel tracks - it felt like I was waking the whole campsite when walking to the loos late at night. That and the sand which covers the ground at the children's play area - It was more like 'Builders Sand' than 'Children's Play Sand' (I'm no expert on sand though), and it has stained the kids clothes.

But in no way would this stop me recommending this sight as a great place to camp.

A large but quiet site - broken down into areas so you don't feel you're on a such a big site. We camped in wooded area and loved it. Children had to be dragged out of swimming pool. Toilets very clean all week - a short walk from tent areas but not really a long slog. Good little shop. Midges in evidence but not terrible. Difficult to fault site really.

Local pub - The Silent Woman - OK+. Old Granary on Wareham quay looked to have nice food but was full so could only have a drink.

Village of Tyneham requisitioned by MOD in 1943 worth a visit (we thought). Children surprisingly enjoyed The Blue Pool - may have something to do with very good cakes in tea rooms.

Very enjoyable last week of July has made returning to work quite painful.

We spent a night here in glorious sunshine and had a wonderfully relaxing time.

With a tent, we had the option to pitch in a lovely wooded area, among the trees. It was really pretty, and felt like 'proper' camping. You can choose your own space in this area, so no regimented square pithes here!

I can't fault the facilities, and was particularly pleased that you don't have to keep pushing a button to make the shower operate.

Lovely wooded walks all around the site, with a pub within walking distance.

I wouldn't stay here if you're hoping for night-time entertainment. There is no bar/restaurant on site, and I wouldn't like to walk home from the pub in the dark.

Our first camping trip and visit to this site couldn't have been more successful! Visiting the week before half-term (and the rain!) the site was exceptionally quiet - we were the only tent there for much of the week - and therefore had the pick of pitches. All areas were spacious, immaculatley maintained, and the staff and amenities were second to none. Our 3 year old loved the play area and the freedom of being able to run into the forest safely.

As previously mentioned, insect repellent is a must here, but a few bites were well worth experiencing the best holiday we've had in years! After much persausion, my husband has decidied he loves camping, thanks to this trip, and we've already had a further great weekend away at another great site (Golden Square Caravan & Camping park, Helmsley, N Yorks.) :-)

Stayed here during our semi wet school half term for 4 nights. 2nd time we have stayed here 2nd time the rains have met us there. Wonderfull site and well run, very clean and tidy. Kids loved the open areas, swimming pool and playground. Very helpful staff and a good well stocked shop. Facilities are in good modern order great shower and loo block's again aways clean and tidy. Will return again in the future.

We stayed for a long weekend over the Bank Holiday. This was our second stay at Wareham Forest and I would say this is now my favorite site.

The setting is so peaceful. There is minimal lighting at night time so you feel back to nature, especialy if you (like us) opt for the non electric pitch.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Toilets/showers are modern and immaculately maintained.

Highly recommended.

My Wife and I visited the site over the late May Bank Holiday Bank Holiday 2008 and this was the first time we have stayed here.

It would be difficult to find anything negative to say about the site; from the moment you drive in the well maintained and deceptively spacious and well set-out appearance give you the feeling that you are in for a very pleasant time. This is further enhanced by the welcoming attitude of every member of the site team that we had the pleasure to meet; even at busy times.

We were impressed by the constant cleanliness of loos and showers and even the small details such as shower heads which did not face your clothes but pointed sideways across the cubicle, and they turn on and off like the shower at home without those dreadful push-buttons. If distance from the loo blocks is a problem for you, then I would advise you to book a pitch using the online site map, but there are plenty of pitches close-by.

Despite staying over a very busy bank holiday period, the clever layout of the park left you with that secluded feeling, and noise from fellow guests was never a problem. Everyone we met on the site, campers and staff, were very friendly, even despite the appalling bank holiday downpours.

Our favourite element of the holiday had to be leaving the car by the caravan and walking straight out of the site into Wareham Forest.

We know this part of Dorset very well so comments about the area are difficult to prioritise, but as a précis: Studland Bay, Poole Quay, Weymouth, The Purbecks, The Tank Museum, Corfe Castle, Swanage, (and my Wife said I should not mention the Cider Museum at Overmoigne).

When shopping, avoid Summerfield in Wareham which we found to be more expensive than Waitrose at home. Fresh fish and meat were almost double the price of the splendid Co-op in Swanage. The savings on individual prices more than made up for the extra mileage, although on our last day we spotted a Co-op in the main street in Wareham.

If I were to be “Nit-Picky” about the site I would say that although the gravel which covers all hard standings and the roads is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, it can be difficult to walk on, and will defeat any item of equipment with small wheels, including the new Thetford wheeled loo cassettes which you will have to carry. Also for windless sultry evenings make sure you have a good supply of insect repellent as the Midges can be voracious.

In conclusion: a very delightful site and we are trying to find time to go back soon.

This was the first time we used the campsite and we were very impressed! Although the site was full, it did not feel that you were on top of everyone. The excellent surroundings, open areas, forest and the beach no more than about 20 mins away (the fantastic Studland Bay) what more could you want from a site? The toilets, showers and communal areas were kept very clean (although being in the very far end of the site, the walk to the loo's needed to be timed very carefully or sincronised with doing the washing up! Despite the awful weather (bank holiday of course) we throughly enjoyed it - so much we are back down next weekend, only 2 hours by car but seems 2 million miles away from the hustle and bustle of Enfield!
