Used the site to go skiing, very good position for the Cairngorm mountains. Location next to Lock Morlick and its picturesque beach is ideal, nice cycle trail nearby.
Toilets as mentioned by others are of a good standard.
Midge's were out in force, so need to be prepared for this.
Reception and shop staff were pleasant in contrast to the cafe staff who were not.
Overall a clean well kept site in a good location, a bit expensive for what you get, will probably go back but will avoid the cafe next time.

We were unsure if we'd like this site as it's so big, but the pitches tucked away in the pinewoods at the bottom feel quite separate, not really like being on a site & so peaceful. Fabulous location, breath-taking scenery & 100s of miles of tracks for walking & cycling right on your doorstep.
Loch Morlich & the river are just a stroll through the trees. Paradise for wildlife enthusiasts & amazingly in early June often had the shore of the loch to ourselves.
Toilets/showers immaculate, though on 1 day all showers in one block except 1 closed for `maintenance' - though no-one seemed to be doing any, but I found the staff friendly & helpful, & also out & about checking bins etc.
Only criticism is the pitches in the pinewoods very muddy & in need of resurfacing. Personally we don't care for manicured campsites with marked out pitches, but some small chippings would make a world of difference & are much needed in places. Oh, a communal fridge freezer would be a welcome addition too.
Despite the high cost we & the dogs can't wait to go back - but if the plans to clear some trees in the lovely pinewoods part of the site & erect 40odd chalets come to fruition then perhaps we'll think again, as for us it would ruin it totally.

It is an excellent campsite and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
There is an informative reception on site with a well stocked shop a few minutes walk away - handy for milk and papers in the morning. Although there is no pub on site, the Glenmore Lodge is only a ten minute (uphill) walk away and this does excellent beer and reasonably priced food.
The site's shower and toilet blocks are virtually brand new and were spotless. We never had to queue for the showers, although the site was relatively quiet during our visit.
We had a great pitch with a view over towards the Cairngorm Mountain range.
The staff were very friendly throughout our visit and there are plenty of things to do in the area.
We will definitely be returning as we have only scratched the surface of the walking and biking that there is in the area.

Excellent site. Plentiful facilities. High standard toilet block, cafe and shop on site. Superb location on Loch Morlich with snow capped Cairngorms in the background. Lots of info re activities for adults and children.
Bike hire on site. Reindeer across the road. Watersports on loch. We only satyed one night as part of a round Scotland fortnight but intend to go back for a week in the future. Our favourite campsite of the trip.
Did get charged £2 admin fee as only booking in for 1 night.

Have visited this site previously about two years ago and was very disappointed. It appears to not have been maintained such as grass was too long and pitches not marked out. I get the the snow and rain has been difficult this year and the staff do not appear to have taken steps to maintain the ground there are huge mud ditches which just became puddles when even a little rain came. I was there for four days and did not see one staff member out the office.
The cost £25 with my discount card was very high which I didn't mind in the past due to the location and it being a well maintained site however it was not good value for money.
The location is fantastic and the toilets are in great condition.

We stayed at Glenmore over the May weekend in 2010. It was absolutely freezing, and I can honestly say I have never camped in such freezing conditions! However, it had been an exceptionally bad winter, and May weekend could easily have been scorching. It had been raining heavily, and some areas of the site were looking a bit water-logged. Get there early to get a good pitch.
The facilities at Glenmore were good, lovely clean toilet/shower blocks, and two blocks for the whole site. The noise levels were strictly adhered to and we noticed that some people were being asked to quieten down at 10.30pm, they seemed to take this well. You could get breakfast from the Cafe across the road.
The play area was a bit of a walk up to the top of the site, but was well setup. There seemed to be a lot of activities organised by the rangers, although we felt this to be on the expensive side, especially if the whole family wanted to go.
Loch Morlich was a stones through away, and I could imagine BBQ's on the beach there in warmer weather. Aviemore is a 10 minute drive away for the essentials, there's a small Tesco there, and loads of outdoor shops. Further afield, Grantown, Kingussie and Newtonmore are all worth a visit, more unspoilt than Aviemore which is very commercialised. A walk around Loch an Eilan is lovely, and easy for younger children too. Inverness is about a 40 minute drive away. And of course, there is Landmark at Carrbridge, my kids love this place. If you think you may visit again, it's worth it to buy the season ticket, use it twice and it's paid for itself.
The Imagination Workshop and SmaryArt are great for crafts to paint and take home, if the weather isn't great, but they do get busy, and the Funhouse at Coylumbridge is great for kids to let of steam.
I did enjoy the break here, but it was way too cold to appreciate properly. I'd like to camp here again in warmer weather. The kids had a ball.

Have been coming to this camp site for over 20 years, and if it was not for its setting I would not be back.
Firstly even with the discount of having a camping and caravan card (same as if you had a forest experience card) it was over £25 a night for two adults and 2 dogs- not even high season.
Before Forest holidays took over the site it was well kept, with proper marked pitches- it is now a free for all and so some visitors take over two pitches. Pitches are rutted and mucky when raining and there seems to be no programme to rectify the damage. This site has the potential to close part of it to repair the pitches.
Toilets and wash facilities are first class-however some of the toilets and showers were closed and the site was at near capacity. It appears this is deliberate so there is less cleaning for staff.
Staff- not friendly at all- even asking on arrival what the weather was like - no answer just a point to a a4 print on the wall. A shame because this used to be a friendly site.
The area -walks, beach and the views make this place and I have no doubt if it was in a less attractive setting changes would have to be made to make it pay.

This site is situated in beautiful surroundings. Great walks, cycle tracks, water sports and skiing to name just a few. There are shops and coffee shops nearby.
The toilet blocks are new and clean and there are child play areas. Unfortunately the grounds on the site in my opinion are not well kept. They are uneven and uncut with no set out pitches. When it rains it is covered with big puddles.
Sadly I did not find the staff friendly. It is also expensive for what you get. Because it is in among trees there are biting bugs so if you are allergic to bites watch out.

Have visited this site many times in the past 40yrs only because of its location. For the past 3 years we have stayed for 5/6 days in April or May and each year I have said we are not coming back.
The site is very rough and it is a struggle to get even a semi level pitch. We have been waterlogged many times. Its not great when your dog can't lie in the awning during the day and you have to collect logs and large stones to make a path to get out and in without getting your feet wet.
This is the most expensive site I have stayed on and as such I would expect more work to be done on the ground to create decent pitches. New toilet blocks were put up a few years ago which in my mind are a very odd design. They are large buildings with a vast amount of empty space inside. The site is a forestry site so they probably would argue that the pitches are left as they are to try and keep the site as natural as possible but why then put up monstrous modern toilet blocks, they really are not in keeping with the surroundings.
The area around the site is really why people go. There are so many places to walk and cycle from the site and the small beach down by the loch is great and the sunsets there are just fantastic. Aviemore is 7 miles away with mostly outdoor shops, tourist shops, a decent supermarket and lots of takeaways and restaurants.
We bought a map from the information centre across the road from the site a few years ago and have enjoyed great walks with our dog. Our favourite is up the hill behind the information centre and along the top, great views on a good day, take a picnic.
To sum up - a great location but poor site because of the high cost and uneven ground. The area gets a lot of rain because of the mountains around so if you wake up and its raining drive into Aviemore and it will probably be blue skies.

This was our holiday over the New Year period and we were told by the booking people that there was no need to book for the period.
When we arrived there was about 6 inches of snow on the ground (we were well aware of this and were prepared for the weather) and, despite there being 220 pitches on the site and no tents there, we were informed that they were full!
After some discussion we were allowed to pitch but found that the attitude of the staff on arrival appeared to be the norm - everything was too much effort but provided you were prepared to do absolutely everything yourself, things were fine.
One of the two toilet blocks had been closed down and as a result of where we had had to pitch it was a very long walk to use the block.
When it came to leaving I had spent an hour digging the car out of the snow when one of the attendants came by on a small tractor fitted with a snow-plough and blocked the car back in. When asked he refused to move the snow he had just pushed in behind the car and quickly drove off.
The site itself is very pleasant: in the heart of the Cairngorms and convenient for hill-walking, skiing and all other outdoor activities
