I was at this campsite for 2 nights and found it really nice, it was really easy to book in and the toilet block was really clean. The only problem I had was the bloody midges! I think I was unfortunate that when I arrived there had been showers and that brought them out in force. Whilst there I went up the craigorm mountain on the mountain train and went a few walks. There's a shop and cafe on site and there's plenty of things close by to be getting up to, plus your only a 5 min drive from Aviemore.

This year I thought the site was better - still only the taps behind the toilets working, but at least we were told. Bins still overflowing - not sure about cleaning of toilets but they were closed at least once during our four day stay!
Kids playground did it for us as it's great - they've got a spiderweb swing which ours loved. We really love this part of the world so will keep coming here.

This site is situated in some of the finest scenery in Scotland, however the site itself has lost some of its old charm.
The site has been taken over in the last 2 years by Forest holidays who indeed have improved the toilet/washing facilites however the visitors are paying for the privilage. The fees have risen approx 1/3 in the last 2 years and so even in Feb we were charged just under £20.00 a night and that was with their 'Forest experience' card that gave us 3.00 off a night. Staff claimed it was high season due to it being a holiday where their head office was (England somewhere).
Toilets and showers waited for the third day of our visit before they appeared to be cleaned.
Apart from the above moans as stated earlier this is a beautiful part of the world and with the lovely town of Aviemore only 10 minutes away by car has a good choice of shops(including Tesco) This site is a good place to base for touring this area or just getting away from it all.

Site was very quiet when we visited but it still took us a while to find a pitch that was neither gravel nor waterlogged. Other than that it's a nice place. Facilities seemed quite new and were always very clean. Picnic tables are scattered around which make cooking more comfortable if you camp next to one.
The nearby loch and beach are beautiful and the site is well located for accessing the Cairngorms.
There is a shop just off site that sells basics and has a cafe. It now even has a sauna which is fantastic after a day out on the hills.
Also nearby is Glenmore Lodge. They run training courses in all kinds of outdoor pursuits and have a bar doing reasonable food that's open to the public.
Good site all round. We'll go again if we're in the area.

We have just come back from this site and have to say that we were very dissapointed. The man in reception was very dour, the site poorly maintained, the toilet block dirty, wasnt cleaned for the three days we were there, only one toilet brush for the whole of the toilets. The other toilet block had no running hot water and the showers couldnt be used because of this. When the forestry commission ran this site we signed in, paid up and everyone was very friendly, not so this time. We wont be going back. By the way we visited this camp site at least once a year every year when the forestry commission ran it, now it has merged with the Camping and caravan club it is going downhill fast.

We stayed at Glenmore for three nights from 13th to 16th September. We arrived at lunchtime so the reception was closed until 2.30pm but the note on the door said we could pitch anywhere and book in before 10.00am the following day.
There were large parts of the site taped off as they appeared unusable due to being waterlogged. The areas available were still very wet. We found a pitch which although quite uneven seemed suitable.
We pitched the tent and hooked up to the electicity. The cable crossed the road which only wecould use.
The site manager appeared in his tractor and very abruptly told us to remove the cable. I pointed out that we were the only ones who could use that road however he told us to remove it nonetheless. I understood why he wanted it removed and had his manner been a bit better I would have done so without question.
The woman at reception was very helpful and anxious to make sure everything was okay for us.
The facilities are very good with the toilets and showers very clean and modern.
There is an excellent playpark and a shop offsite with friendly staff. This area is great for cyclists and walkers alike with many safe cycle tracks and paths.
Cycle hire with trailers etc is available at reception for excellent rates.
I would recommend this site for families as there is so much to do locally. Some of the pitches are uneven and potholed however this did not put us off and neither did the constant rain.
The scenery and the surrounding area are stunning and well worth exploring.
We will return in the spring.

We recently visited this site and have to say loved it. Okay it is expensive for pitches, attacked by midges and it did rain constantly but hey-ho on the positive side. Great toilet block, very clean; staff very friendly and helpful. Amazing beach (breathtaking when you see it for the first time) great walks/cycle paths through the woods and loads to do in the surrounding area. Funicular railway up to Ptarmigan restaurant is a must as is a wander through Aviemore (though it is a bit of a building site at present!) and found a great bar in the nearby Glenmore Lodge activity centre. Very welcoming to families and great inexpensive meals. We would return but it would have to be for a short break as it is a pricey site. By the way a visit to the nearby shop is a must; there's some cracking laughs to be had there a wee bottle of Skin so soft (£2.50 from Avon) is £6.75 in there! mind you people were loading them up.Maybe it's just me! All in all, great site, friendly, loads for the kids to do too, stunning scenery, do yourself a favour and visit there at least once!

Visited for 8 days in August 2007. Positives: Great location, lots to do if it is NOT raining. Good size pitches. Negatives: expensive site, cost only includes two adults, therefore any extra people including children have an additional cost. Poor laundry facilities, only one washing machine in working order and both tumble dryers did not work or the 8 day stay. Toilets and showers were dirty, and often the showers were not warm and no toilet roll. No lighting working in our area which meant a tricky navigation over the foot bridge. Staff not helpful or interested in complaints and no apology received. Poor drainage around pitches.

Our 4th visit in a year but sadly since the partnership of Forest Holidays and the Camping and Caravanning Club, less likely to go again. Firstly the price has shot up but since they took away local decision from the excellent warden and centralised everything, it is a shambles. We arrived on the expected day and the policy of no pitch booking meant we drove around for an hour or so without any luck of finding a pitch with awning space and power. We eventually found a pitch for the first night but it was not well drained so we changed pitch the next day when others left. The laundry is a joke, 1 working 5kg washing machine for the entire park. On a positive note the loos were at their usual high standard. Also they are in the process of building an adventure playground for kids, which is most welcome. Forest Holidays need to rethink as a small tent taking a large pitch and an electrical hook up is not on IMHO. I have nothing a against tents as I love camping but small tents should have small pitches and large tents large pitches. Caravans who pay thirty quid plus a night should at least be guaranteed a working adequate size pitch on arrival. It was my favourite site till last week. Sadly no more.

Visited this site in the past but disappointed this time round. The new toilets and showers are fine but the pitches are very poor. When we arrived it was raining (can't blame anyone for that!) but as the pitches had so many holes it was difficult to find somewhere that didn't have puddles. The site do not allocate pitches so this can cause problems with some campers taking up two or possibly three pitches as one family did. Since our last visit the prices have jumped - we were £45.20 for two nights - so it has put us off going back.
