Excellent site with excellent facilities. Lots to do, here is just a sample of things to do if you have kids:- the Hilton has a Fun House which will keep kids amused for hours and also has a reasonably priced diner inside, it also has a swimming pool but we never got round to using it, there is good food in Aviemore which is only about 5-10 minutes drive. We will definitely be going back as it is an ideal set camp site base for activities in the surrounding areas such as the Wildlife park in Kincraig and Landmark in Carrbridge and the Cairngorms mountain train ride. Very reasonably priced with a shop on site with a cafe included, also across the road from the site there is Glenmore Visitor Centre and a very short walk from the Visitor centre is the Reindeer Centre which has reindeer in the paddock and they also have organised walks into the hills to see the reindeer. I would DEFINITELY recommend this site.

A visit to the Glenmore Caravan and Camping Site during the May bank holiday weekend this year was somewhat marred for a number of reasons.
I have visited this site on a number of occasions over the years, as a teenager with tents and in later years with a caravan both for weekend breaks and holidays. It is located in some of the best scenery in Scotland and was always near the top of lists for breaks etc with us and our fellow caravanners. The improvements to the toilet blocks etc are a welcome addition.
However
1 The web site is not very clear on what the difference is between standard and premium pitches. My understanding is that standard pitches in respect of caravans includes at minimum electric hook up and that premium have the addition of water and drainage. Our friends booked through the internet, standard pitch, thinking that standard would have a hook up. On arrival informed that they did not have a hook up and that none were available. The fact 3 hook ups directly opposite us spent the whole weekend unused did not help. We also tried to book a standard pitch online but the system crashed twice so we resorted to phone. Whilst the staff member was on the other end my wife enquired as to the difference and it was explained that premium pitches had electrical hook ups. Had we been successful booking online we to would have had no electricity.
2 The free for all, pitch almost where you like mentality caused no end of grief for the staff looking after arrivals on the Friday evening of a busy bank holiday weekend where I witnessed several people being asked to re locate after setting up their tents, caravans awnings etc.
3 Last but, but by no means least the price hike. We were on this site last year at the same time, with the same facilities, the only difference was that my son was with us and we are pretty sure we were only about £13 per night. Not only the group of friends I was with but any number of other visitors were fairly critical of the price which has doubled or more depending on the size and age of your family.
This site and weekend had become a fixture on our caravaning calendar but it is with much sadness that we and our friends will be going elsewhere next May. For the prices being asked I would think that you could pre book pitches ensuring that you and your friends could be together.

Stayed for four nights from Easter Monday til Friday. Came here last year as well - it is now nearly twice the price! This is justified by there being a new reception - big wow. Bins were overflowing - no stand pipes working for water except those by the toilets - I thought the warden hadn't realised but when I told him he said it was because they had all been frozen for three weeks - no signs to this effect anywhere and of course the next day they were all working - remember how hot it was over Easter - just as hot there - couldn't have been frozen all that time - people were not impressed. Quite often there was perhaps only one toilet which had toilet paper in and my husband said the gents was much the same. Disappointing really. But the area is fab and the site is full of birds etc and I love it but it shouldn't be £31.20 a night with elec. For a motorhome and four people. (However I did get a three pound a night discount because I had bought a forest hols card - £12 pa). Not half as good as last year (ie before the partnership merger!)

Just spent 2 nights in this beautiful site. Opened the tent in the morning with a view of the Cairngorms! Unfortunately, I won't be back. I called up in advance to check availability and prices. A lovely woman called Julie was extremely helpful and informed me that I would be £18 a night (I was surprised at that and said so on the phone) so she then told me that if I was not a member of the Caravan Association it would be £3 more so £21! Another £3 a night if we required electricity. This was ALL that was discussed. However, I have stayed on the site before in August and despite the nest of mice behind our tent and the abundance of midgies, I figured April would be a better month to return. So I packed up the car with my 3 kids + 1 extra, and headed the 100 odd miles from Aberdeen. On arrival at the site I was told that we could pitch anywhere. The kids were high as kites! I was asked at this point how many people were in the tent. She said that it works on a basis of 2 adults in the tent so she would class my 12 year old as an adult! Then Julie asked if I wished to join some Forest Association Club for £12 extra (this is instead of the Caravan Association supplement apparently and allows! you to spend time at any of the Forest Sites in the UK). When I asked how much this would be in total she told me that my base price was already £63! for 2 nights! (I must add that there were other people there who didn't appear to bat an eye at the prices. Am I just a stereotypical grippy Aberdonian??) I later spoke to 3 other families who felt as I did though. Anyway, I booked into the site as the kids love it there and the scenery is wonderful but it spoiled the whole experience of Aviemore for me. On a positive note the toilets are clean and warm and the whole atmosphere on the site is relaxed and friendly. They have removed the playpark but that didn't bother us. There's plenty of space to play. The female staff are great but the one male I saw was complaining about another customer while I was waiting in the reception.not very professional! I am now going to another site in Perthshire for a further 2 nights. It costs £32! and has many more amenities on site. Despite being in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Sorry Glenmore. We go camping because its usually the only way we can afford to go on holiday.

Visited this park for the third time in the last 8 months and have never been disappointed. The facilities on site are amongst the best we have seen over the last 10 years. The toilet blocks are kept like new and are always kep to a high standard with plenty of hot water for showers, washing up etc. The location is beautiful with a view up towards Cairngorm Mountain and a couple of minutes walk from Loch Morlich with its watersports in the summer. There is a superb shop 100m from the site with a cafe. Glenmore Lodge is 5 minutes walk away where families or individuals can have a nice meal or a quiet drink. The staff at reception are amongst the friendliest ever encountered. The down side is, you cannot book a specific pitch, you only book the right to a pitch so you might have to hunt around., Overall, my families favourite site so far.

Christmas in the Cairngorms staying at Glen More is recommended to all - Hard Frosts (no snow) but spectacular scenery, Great walks, fantastic views, Xmas Eve in Aviemore absolutely brilliant. Hundreds of people there but atmosphere great, Torchlight Parade with Santa and His Reindeer, Carol singing and Fireworks display. We had three units in our party- Motor-home, trailer Tent and Touring van with awning, 8 adults from teenagers to 81yr old, all thoroughly enjoyed themselves- absolutely loads to do in the area if you like being outdoors. Dry ski slopes, Funicular Railway, Loads of walks (plenty are also suitable for disabled/wheelchair users) Riding, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Swimming, Steam Railway (Xmas eve Santa express for the little ones), Wildlife Park, Quad Biking, Land Rover Tours etc etc etc. Toilet and shower blocks clean and tidy and very warm (great after an evening walk in -7 degrees). Never saw the Wardens all week but they responded very quickly to a gas emergency further up the park. Fantastic woodland pitches in one area of the park. Informal layout to rest of Park - no regimented pitches here. Nearby Forest Park Info centre and Gift Shop, Reindeer visitor centre 5 mins walk away

A good site in a great location. We initally stayed for 3 nights then came back for another 2, and would go back again. You can book via phone or internet for a minimum of 2 or 3 days (depending on bank holidays etc.). The site is next to Loch Morlich (offering boating) and although most of the pitches are in grassland there is a small pine wood area where we stayed for 3 nights. There's two new toilet/shower/washing up blocks, one also has washing machines and tumble dryers, all kept in good clean order. Next to the site is a small shop with attached cafe and a dry sledge slope for kids. The Glenmore forest has plenty of waymarked walks, plus offers access to the surrounding hills for more ambitious hikes. Local attractions we visited and enjoyed are the Highland Wildlife Park (deer, wolves, bison, otters etc.) and the the Cairngorm Mountain Railway. Aviemore is only a short drive away with a selection of shops and eating places.

We spent two nights here and plan to return for at least a week next year. The campsite is well maintained and the pitches are well placed giving a very informal feel. There is loads to do in the immediate and surrounding areas, the beach is gorgeous with the choice of hiring all sorts of boats / canoes for a while. The forest has lots of lovely walks which is perfect for the dog. The toilet facilities are very clean and tidy. The shop stocked some food but I would advise to either bring your own or there is a tesco's in Aviemore. Did not try the cafe when we were there but it did seem reasonably priced and others said the food was very nice. The play park was not up to much and the kids were disappointed but to be honest there was so much other things to do to keep them amused it did not matter.

Spent a long weekend at Glenmore, we have two young children there was lots to do, great beach nearby, nice walks all around. Not too far from Aviemore. Nice shop on site lovely gift shop within walking distance. Had great fun watching ducks down at the Loch. Really great site all round. Shower and toilet blocks were incredibly clean for the amount of campers that were using them. The dishwashing room was also very clean and sponge cloths were provided for wiping down sinks so you could leave like you found them. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We went up the Cairgorm funicular railway and we got a voucher for 5% discount from the campsite, well worth going! Would recommend this site. Don't forget the midgie spray!

Just spent the weekend the long May Day weekend here with friends (21 in our party all together spread over 3 tents and 1 caravan). Second visit for us but we did have some very reluctant virgin campers with us. However after their experience here they will definitely be making regular return visits! Absolutely tons to do within walking distance from the site. Dry slope sledging and grass sledging either £4 for 1/2 hour or £6 for 1 hour and is excellent fun for little and big kids! As for the site - the staff are cheery, helpful and very friendly. The pitches are not uniform like in some sites meaning that there is not that regimented feel. The policy here is no set pitches, so this meant that we managed to pitch all our tents together. The toilet and shower facilities are second to none. Extremely clean and well maintained with plenty of space for changing. The laundry facilities are the same £2 for a wash or a dry. The sinks for dishwashing also extremely clean and are even set with sponge cloths for your use! Despite the excellent standard of facilities and abundance of attractions close by the tarriff is extremely reasonable. Our may day weekend cost only £28.50 for 3 nights per tent of 4 people. Will definitely be returning this year and hope to make use of the watersport facilities on Loch Morlich (less than 2 minutes walk) which are alos very reasonably priced.
