Just had three nights here - this place is fantastic. We stayed by the forest by the kids playground - swings with tyres. The toilets and showers are amazing - so warm and so new! Loads of them and there are two blocks with disabled sowers and toilets. The forest is full of birds - I took this big fatball and it attracted chaffinch, blue, great and coal tits and a great spotted woodpecker! Also saw siskins and heard lots of owls. Snow on the Cairngorm mountains - but sunny on the site. By the site is a small shop which sells rolls, milk, tins and camping gear. There is also a cafe - all day breakfasts are £4.95. The pitches are well spaced - also by the shop is a sledging slope which is either dry or snow - £6 for half an hour. Up the road is the visitor centre where you can get permits to fish on the loch for a day. Also the reindeer centre is great - it costs £20 (for a family of four) to feed the wild reindeer. Superb. The Rothiemurchus estate has fishing £12 for a an hour, quad biking, clay pigeon shooting and much more. Loads of bike and walking paths next to the site too. You should give it a go.

This is a lovely site - great location on the banks of the loch with walks of every length and standard all around on everything from buggy-able trails to serious up hill paths. The loch has a sandy beach with watersports hire and instruction (all unpowered) and there are a number of other touristy things in walking distance, like the forestry vistor center and cafe, and the reindeer center.
The site itself had new loos in 2005, and they are really excellent - smart and clean.
About 10-15 minutes gets to Aviemore with a supermarket and range of smaller shops. Good tip - the hotel on the road to the site from Aviemore has a swimming pool open to non-residents. It is very nice, and we had it to ourselves on a rainy day during the last week in August!
If I had a criticism it would be that if you don't want power you may not get quite the choice of pitch you would like, but that is a minor quibble. Thoroughly recommended.

We were very impressed with this site as it's not been manicured into precise little rectangles like some places! The toilet and shower blocks have obviously been recently replaced as they are very modern and clean. There are modern laundry facilities too in each toilet block. The site is in a fantastic position by the beach on Loch Morlich and the main road goes halfway up Cairn Gorm. We have a small campervan and hadn't intended to stay on this site for more than a couple of nights, but fell in love with the whole area and stayed for a week! The lady manager was very friendly, but her man was less so when I asked for help with the washing machine.......

One our favourite sites, we have visited it 3 times in the last 12 months. Simply turning up we have had no problems getting a pitch. The facilities are good and are I believe to getting a major update this winter. Loads of great walks and superb scenery, and if you like water sports, Loch Morlich is ideal. And NO midges!

Great site with a great location, plenty to do in the area and well placed for many activities within both the general campsite and the Rothemurchus estate next door. The site itself was full on many days we were there and the facilities just about coped, the loo,s were generally clean and the staff helpful.
The reception area is a bit strange though and needs updating, some of the sites facilities are due to be upgraded at the end of the season,a new office is required! Some piches were very close together and you will be on first name terms with your nextdoor campers very soon! Some pitches are in the forest and could be tight for some outfits but these pitches are the best for the beautiful veiws of Loch Morlich just outside your caravan door
With the Cairngorms on the doorstep and wonderful walking trails, not to mention all the distilleries on speyside we had a great time cant wait to go back.

July 2004 We used this site once, around fifteen years ago, and found that little had changed. The site is well kept and has reasonable facilities. The toilets and showers were clean but a bit dated. What makes the site is the location. There is plenty to see and do in the area and loads of walks around or near the site. Being close to the loch is also a major bonus.

proposed date august 2003 I phoned a week beforehand to book a tent space and was told just to pitch up there would definately be a space. Travelled 300 miles with family to be turned away as it was full. The manager was extremely rude and unhelpful, I was that upset I have written an article and sent it to the local press as we had to turn around and travel 300 miles back home.
