This is the second time we have visited this site and we love it. We use it for a base to visit London and Legoland.
Although it was bank holiday weekend and the site appeared fully booked we never had to queue for loos or showers. We also love the fact that this site has a family bathroom always handy with 3 under the age of 6!
The campsite shop is not brilliantly equipped but there is a Sainsburys not too far away.
Planes do fly over frequently but these were a constant source of fascination to our little ones and you do get used to the noise of the planes and become immune to it.
Brilliant site to use a base to explore London!

We went for the first bank holiday weekend in May so it was fairly busy, however there was plenty of room between units and tents and the showers and toilets were never busy. Shower unit was spotless, warm and plenty of hot water.
We were with a group of friends and were put in a corner and were allowed to pitch as we wished within that area. Caravans, motorhomes and tents are all mix and match rather than the tents being miles away from everyone else as at some sites. Lovely flat pitches in sheltered sites, EHU to most if not all pitches a small but lovely play area, small shop and plenty of room for bike riding. There is a large area of common land just over the river for longer dog walks or games.
The planes are noticeable but did not bother us, and any noise that could have been the motorway or road was muffled by the noise of the river, we had no trouble with it at all.
Staff are friendly, helpful and good with the kids.

We have just got home from a 5 night stay at this site.
We had a terrible journey from Devon and did not arrive on site until 8.30 ish, we found the staff very helpful and accommodating even though we arrived quite late.
We used the site as a base as we visited Thorpe Park and London (Twice) and also visited family. The site was ideal for this purpose although we did say that it would not be ideal for somewhere to go on holiday as there is not really anything other than the shower / toilet blocks on site.
The toilets / showers were clean and the water was piping hot.
The aircraft noise which has been mentioned was noticeable on our first night but after that we must have got used to it.
Our only gripe was that the gates were locked at 11pm which seems early considering that one evening we went into London to see a show and by the time we had got the train back then got into the car back to the site it was close to midnight (I am sure we are not the only visitors to this site who visited London in the evening).

Just got back from this site and we loved it ! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The shower/ utility block is very very clean and modern. 2 nice pubs within walking distance - 5 mins max. Beautiful walks and excellent travel network for London. The Camping and caravanning club is known as the friendly club and this site is a true example of this! In fact we have booked again for Aug bank hol - Can't wait !

After reading the other reviews we were concerned about noise, perhaps we were lucky; perhaps the wind was in a different direction, but no motorway noise noted, some loud planes during the day but none at night! Just the muffled roar of the weir - 26.5hrs of non-stop rain didn't help!
VERY clean and warm toilets & showers, even the older original ones by reception are still better than those on some sites!
VERY good TV reception, inc Ch5!
Had one good meal at the Boathouse next-door and one cold one! (Was offered complimentary coffees as an apology).
Will return in the summer and try the Thames tow path walks and part of the National Cycle Route No:4 which is adjacent to the site.

Found the site a bit expensive, but so was everything else in Chertsey!
Other than that, the site was excellent. Despite having had some rain before we arrived, the ground was good and firm, although it did start to get a little bit messy when we were leaving.
Planes from Heathrow were a bit noisy, but after a few hours, we didn't seem to notice them any more. Other than that it was very quiet, despite it's proximity to both the River Thames and the M3.
Toilet block was very modern and clean, after arriving from the Oxford site, the toilets looked positively futuristic by comparison. Staff were particularly friendly and a few items were stocked in reception. There was also a great view of the river from the site.
If you like a walk, then take a left out of the site and cross Chertsey Bridge (carefully as it is narrow with only a very narrow pavement and gets very busy) You can then walk up the towpath of the river. I got as far as Staines but I believe the path goes on for well over 100 miles if you are feeling fit enough, but don't forget you have to walk back again!
The centre of Chertsey was a 15 minute walk away to the right, though there is really not a great deal in Chertsey, a museum (free entry), a few shops and a supermarket.
Obviously, you have Thorpe park not far away and the site is also fairly convenient for anyone wishing to go into London. Not something we tried, but I am told there are good public transport links to the capital.
We stayed on the site as we were attending a wedding in Chertsey at The Crown Hotel, which was a short walk away. I feel obliged to recommend the place to anyone wanting to buy a drink as the staff were very nice and immensely hard working, despite the drinks being grossly overpriced.
Unfortunately, overpriced seems to be the order of the day for Chertsey.

Lovely site, perfect for visiting London. When we arrived we were asked where we would we like to pitch and chose a lovely pitch next to the river. There was some aircraft noise but found that the sound of the river cancelled it out plus we slept in our campervan so the noise did not bother us.
Lovely facilities, there was a queue for the showers in the main block but the block by the reception was deserted.
Garage opposite for the essentials, sainsburys / fish and chips etc 20 mins walk into town.
Trains to London run regularly from Chertsey station (20 mins walk from site) although the friendly site warden suggested changing at Weybridge for a quicker journey time to Waterloo.
Will definitely return, perfect for London, Thorpe Park and Legoland (which we found very disappointing!).

We stayed here with our four children and two other families with their children a total of 10 kids and 6 adults! Two massive tents and a normal one! The staff were amazing, pitched us all together ensuring enough room for the children to play safely within our area, so much so we didn't even need to use the playground on site. We used it as a base for Legoland which took 15minutes door to door! Thorpe Park is even closer. The site was very lovely clean and tidy. Lots of recycling facilities. The family shower room is excellent. The staff all deserve awards this was truly an exemplary kept site with nothing too much trouble. They operate a fairly strict no loud noise after 11pm and before 7am rule.We spotted the wild parakeets, loved the planes (even though you get used to them) and made lots of new friends. Just PERFECT. Thank you everyone at Chertsey. Be warned though we will be coming again! No down sides for us! Oh and we had Chinese delivered too which was yummy and would recommend highly -

A very well organised site, once checked in you are shown to your pitch and advised on how best to position your campervan / caravan or tent. The site was very busy, there were four other units checking in before me but despite all the running about the staff were happy to spend time with you explaining where all the facilities are and how things worked on the site.
We had a grass pitch which wasn’t the most level pitch in the world but all that was needed was the old wheel chocks. We positioned ourselves overlooking the Thames which was nice. As said before, the site is a good base if you want to attempt to get to Thorpe Park, its only a short bus ride away. In addition to this loads of people seemed to be taking advantage of the Thames, fishing, boating mountain biking etc.
There is a well stocked garage to the left of the campsite which caters for most of your last minute camping emergencies. If you want a supermarket (Sainsbury’s) then turn right out of the campsite and drive about ½ mile into Chertsey.
The Kingfisher pub / restaurant which is just over the bridge is well worth a visit or two! Lovely menu, some great wines, nice staff and all very reasonable too. In fact the beers were also very good. Had to return for a second visit!
The campsite facilities were very good, spacious clean showers, plenty of wash basins and washing cubicles all very modern.
This site is certainly worth a visit, despite being really busy it was still a very peaceful break. Hope to be returning shortly. Thanks.

Spent 3 nights at this site as a base for Thorpe Park.
Lovely clean site, staff extremely helpful and two guys assisted us in position my brother caravan and advise where to pitch our tent to make sure we had a good set up with our own communal area between the two plots.
Showers were excellent, site pretty busy but never had to wait. Good hot showers, only downside having the timed buttons which didnt give enough time and had to be pressed a lot!
Only downsides were :
* lack of shop, but with Chertsey a short distance away with supermarket etc wasnt a problem.
* aircraft noise - early until 11 its on the Heathrow flight path so plenty of planes. Never bothered us but you can hear them nonetheless, although the Thames made more noise to be fair!
Would recommend
