Peaceful campsite with great facilities which are well maintained.

Conveniently located for some great walks and the Peak District Dales National Park.

The only upside of this site is the location and views.

Not worth the £20 a night we paid.

There should have been soap and paper towels in the toilets and as the way things are at the moment that should have been a priority.

The hot water was that hot and should have had a warning. No where to put anything while you wash.

Outside the washing facilities didn’t have any hot water at all and no where to put your washing.

Grass could have done with a cut.

Would I return. No.

 Really lovely, peaceful little campsite.

Agree with everything the previous reviewer posted.

It's basically based in the (large) garden of a retired couple who were very friendly and helpful.

Great little basic camp site with great views situated at Monsal Head above the Monsal rail trail.

Nice clean toilets and showers. Nice friendly owner takes cash only.

Sum up old school camping👍👍👍👍

Fantastic site and love the fact it is adults only. Slightly sloping field, but easy enough to find a level spot and the views are great. Location is brilliant in that it is 2 minutes from Monsal Head.

Coin op shower, 20p for 90 sec, and on a timer so you can see how long left, hot and very clean. Simple facilities, but just what's needed.

One improvement would be hot water to the washing up sink and a drain pipe underneath so you don't get splashed by dirty water.

Overall, lovely hosts and great site. Would definitely go back.

Fors and againsts for this site as follows:

Fors: Next door to Monsal Head, fabulous walks. Clean toilets and shower block. Great views of the dales.

Againsts: Woken at 4am by the numerous crows above us in the trees, extremely loud and annoying, first thing we did was go and buy ear plugs! Road traffic noise from cars and motorbikes using it as a race track late at night. Only one shower and loo for women and the same for men, with another unisex toilet. 20p for 90 seconds to shower, water temperature very inconsistent, one second freezing the next scalding! A makeshift 'sink' for pot washing, cold water, no proper drain or plug, or anywhere to put anything! A shame because apart from all this it would be a lovely quiet site, but not if you're in a tent!

Had found the site a week before by chance driving past as the site I wanted was fully booked. Needed to pre-booked somewhere as big event on at Chatsworth House.

Site was very quiet when I arrived, a few other campers on in various parts of the field.

Nice quiet site, lovely location close to Monsall Head.

Toilets were spotless and shower that runs on 20ps was superb with good hot water rather than lukewarm.

Stayed two nights whilst at Chatsworth Country Fair, traffic on lane didn't bother me as live in a rural location with passing road. Superb sunrise at 6 ish on Saturday morning with stunning views across the Derbyshire Dales.

Went out to Bulls Head at Foolow for food on Saturday night and can highly recommend it, well dressings were on as well so a bonus.

Could not fault camping site, no noise from other campers, great value at £6 for my small tent a night. Would not hesitate to stay again here, owners really helpful and nothing too much trouble for them when you asked.

Great little site that we've stayed at a few times. Good area for walking with the Monsal Trail on the doorstep. A few minutes walk to the Monsal Head Hotel (stables bar) and Hobbs cafe. There is a shower and toilet which are exceptionally clean. Shower costs 20 p for 90 seconds. Soap and paper towels would be a welcome addition. The site is well kept and the owners are friendly and welcoming.

Lovely weekend on this peaceful child-free site. Occasional traffic noise from small road and some serious dawn-chorus in the trees flanking the site but apart form that it's very peaceful.

Great walking with the dog along Monsal Trail and surrounding areas. Several pubs within easy reach on foot.

Pub at Monsal Head is expensive due to its prime location but our meals were good quality.

Good shop for provisions in Ashford-on-the-water, just down the road.

Best campsite toilet ever - clean and freshly-painted, hot water and an extractor fan. Cant comment on the showers as we didn't try them but they and all the toilet areas looked clean and well-cared for.

Site is further north on B6465 than map shows, in fact very close to Monsal Head Inn. Ideal for walking/cycling Monsal Trail and many other nearby paths/bridleways. In fact, leave your van on site and save the camping fee at the pay + display up the road ! Site price was £5 for a campervan inc driver, £5 extra per person.

Stayed two nights in October, very quiet, was only van on Friday, then two more on Saturday. Gents' facilities had one WC, one urinal and one shower - might get busy if lots more people. They were very clean, with lots of hot water, and the shower (90 secs for each 20p) has a very useful digital countdown display easily visible while showering. Pot washing is at outside sink with only cold water so best use your van facilities if you have them.

Following wet weather the grass was very soft and mostly on a slight slope, so wheel spin was a possible problem if stopping for a while and then starting off up the slope.

Apart from the Monsal Head Inn there is the Packhorse Inn within half a mile in Little Longstone, and a ice cream van in the car park by day.
