Location = Nice around the campsite. Location close to some Monsel Head probably only 200 yards away to get onto the Monsel Trail. Some traffic noise Very close to a pub :)
Facilities = Basic clean toilets/sink. Showers (1 men and 1 women) 20p for 3 mins. Sink outside toilet block for washing pots etc(cold water only).
Overall = Basic campsite that's on a slight slope but this is expected in the area. Good size so not to populated with other tents/caravans Lovely, friendly owners. Great walks and good prices.

This was my second stay at this campsite. Still a lovely little site though the sloping field may make pitching larger tents a little 'interesting'
The showers are as immaculate as ever though the showers are now coin operated. 20p for 90 seconds. It takes 20p and £1 coins
Not the quietest site. But the owners have no control over the nearby road, sheep, cows, jackdaws, crows and other noisy critters.

Lovely site, set in stunning country side. Very quiet with basic but clean facilities. Only negative was a member of staff who was incredibly rudeto our party following a misunderstanding over the sites pricing structure. The pack horse pub nearby does excellent real ales and food and the stable bar at monsal head is also good. I would recommend the site if you can keep out of the aforementioned staff members way. Also the first place I've camped and they've charged for dogs.

Had a one night stay at this lovely quiet campsite with lots of room for everyone. Field is on a very slight slope so be careful when pitching up. Showers and toilets were very clean although limited in number. No electric for hairdryers but why do you need one when camping?! If, like us, you are interested in real ales and pleasant pubs you are very close to the The Stables Bar at Monsall Head Hotel (3 min walk), Packhorse Pub in Little Longstone (10 minutes)and two more in Great Longstone (20 minutes). We ate at The Crispin in GL, excellent! It does get busy so would recommend going early or booking a table. The walks in the area are great, but not flat, definitely be ready for an incline every now and again!

What a lovely little site.
Road was a little noisy but, compensation came
In the form of stunning early morning views.
Toilets very clean and comfortable although
Only three loos and two showers.
Field got a little muddy so careful where you put he car.
DOE students also camping all weekend, quiet and friendly
Close to good walking routes and interesting pubs. Had a great weekend and would visit again

My wife and I have just spent a night at this campsite. Facilities were adequate and always clean and in line with very reasonable rates, but there were only 6 people staying and they could become pressured when numbers increase.
Within a 15 minute walk there are 3 pubs nearby, The Stables bar and The Packhorse both serve excellent real ale, as does The Crispin, which also does great food, I can recommend the gammon.
The one problem was the road noise, which kept my wife awake all night, and meant we left after just one night when we had booked for two, but I found it was ok after about 11. 00pm, and managed to sleep. The site is a bit slopey in places so choose your pitch carefully.
The owners, and indeed all the staff in the pubs and shops we used were very friendly, and the site is in a very nice spot with great access to the Monsal Trail.

Lovely little quiet site - will be returning.
We managed to grab the last two places on a busy summer holiday weekend. We were in tent, friends in a camper van. Happily they seem to limit the numbers to what the facilities can support rather than completely crowd the field.
Field is on a slight slope but we were at the flatter end towards the road.
Facilities are well maintained and adequate even when campsite full. One loo and one shower for the women plus 2 hand basins.
Word of warning - we camped on the left hand side of the field (looking from the road) under the enormous row of trees and did not get sun all day until about 6 pm. If you want some sun camp towards the right. Best spot as far as I could see would be in front of the house down the side of the entrance road.
Short walk (3 mins)takes you to Monsal Head - pub ok, does food (so does connected hotel), hit & miss but some high points.
Great site for access to the Monsal trail - disused railway walking and cycling trail, about 8 miles in all which goes through some long tunnels. Access is about a mile's cycle away on Station Road through Great Longstone.
Bikes to hire & cafe at the western end, Bakewell at the other.

Lovely site with good clean facilities and at a great price.
The showers/toilet block was adequate size for the site and always in good order.
Field was on a bit of a slope but not a major issue.
One thing to note though: The location on this website map is a little off. The site is further up the road towards Monsal Head and not where the 'pin' is on the map. The owner of this farm was quite clearly cheesed off with hikers mistaking it for Park House!
The beer at the Monsal Head hotel was absolutely dreadful and the service was poor. The food was only average.
The Packhorse Inn down in Little Longstone is much better.
Will definitely return and recommend!

We called the site the morning we intended to arrive and were cheerfully told there was a pitch available. We arrived to a great little site, only one field and small toilet/shower block, but a lovely setting. Toilets and showers were great, clean and freshly mopped each time we went in, and when we did bump in to the owner he was cheerful and chatty (but not TOO chatty!)
There was a pub and tea room nearby within literally a few minutes wander, located at the famous Monsal Head. A few minutes walk from there found us 3 more pubs, culminating in a 10 minute walk home after an enjoyable night of local ale and good food.
Couldn't fault the campsite or the location. Ashford and Bakewell within a few minutes, close to Chatsworth and the Monsal trail too.
Great place, we'll definitely return.

Just returned after a 2 night stay. We were very lucky with the weather as it stayed dry all weekend.
There is 1 toilet and 1 shower for ladies and the same for men. These are the cleanest toilets I have used on a campsite. They are immaculate.
The owners were very friendly. There is plenty of space on this small site. 2 minutes walk to the pub and Monsal Head view point that has an array of walks leading off from here.
£13.00 per night - campervan, 2 adults, a dog and small awning.
Dogs are welcome. There are no hook ups
I would definitely go back.
