This was our first time at this site, and what a pleasant surprise. The entrance felt as though you were going into a Country Estate, the staff helpful and friendly. Even though we hadn't pre-booked they were very accommodating.

The site is very clean and tidy and well kept. Pitches have their own electric and water points and have plenty of room. Waking up to rolling Leicestershire countryside was very welcome.

The site is peaceful, and I even managed to 'lose' my husband to fishing for 8hrs one day - which was blissful as it left me to do exactly what I wanted to do. In the end I had to drag him away from the lakes to be fed and watered!

The showers were excellent and very rare for a campsite. The best we have ever seen in fact. Individual units with underfloor heating, your own shower, loo and sink and piped music too! I shall be going back just to experience them again!

As luck had it, we arrived on a Wednesday. Fish and Chip supper with pleasant evening entertainment made for an enjoyable, relaxed evening.

We certainly look forward to visiting the site again - a rare find these days, and very reasonably priced in comparison to others we have stayed at.

Thanks for a pleasant stay.

Just had a weekend here for the first time. Its local to us so ideal for this time of year. Never got to enjoy the stay properly as the weather was wet all our stay. We did get a short break to have a short walk around the lakes which we were impressed with. The pitches are private and very well kept. Level tarmac parking on all serviced pitches. Showers were well lets say, small bathrooms were spot on, soft music playing, toilet, sink, shower, hair dryer all to yourself. Clubhouse on site but does not do evening meals which we were looking forward to. Lots of lakes to fish from. We will try and visit here again before the year end but if not we will definitely come back in summer as this is when the site will be a little gem.

There just aren't enough superlatives to describe this site; it must be the best in Britain!

The only 'fault' - if you can call it that - is that there is no public transport into Melton mowbray, which gives a parking problem when it stages a big event, as it did during our visit.

Each pitch is tarmac, with a stone base for awnings, and grass surround, and fully serviced. The centre pond is a pleasant feature; it does have some picnic tables, but a few more seats would be good in summer.

The club house is open every day, but the bar is only open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. The breakfasts are good and decently priced. The staff are all very friendly.

As the site has only been open for its second year, everything is very new and state of the art. There must have been some very heavy investment to make it so good. You do pay for it, but that has not put people off - it was nearly full over the weekend of our visit, so people are obviously prepared to pay for top quality.

Melton Mowbray is a pleasant market town, which hosts food festivals at regular intervals promoting local produce like stilton cheese and pork pies, as well as local beers. It also has a modicum of historic interest and enough shops for some modest retail therapy. The Great Central Railway is also reasonably accessible at its southern end. Perfick!

Yes, Eye Kettleby Lakes has definitely gone to the top of our 'must go back to' sites.

We spent a very nice, if a bit wet'n'windy, week at Eye Kettleby late Oct/early Nov. The site is pristine and the facilities are absolutely excellent - all of which have been previously said. It's so nice to have a clubhouse on site, but better opening hours and the option for having an evening meal would have been lovely. We enjoyed the entertainment on the night we called in, and took advantage of the fish and chip van that came, however there was an extremely long wait to be served. A lesson learned - next time (and there will be a next time for us) we will wait inside in the warm until the queue goes down. Although the site is advertised as 'adults only' the clubhouse admits children, who presumably are holidaying in the rented lodges

It is set quite a way from the main road, so unless you are particularly fit, you will need to drive places.

The biggest 'negative' I personally felt about the site is their policy on borrowing from their DVD library. Only guests staying in their lodges were allowed to borrow them, which made me feel a bit second-class, or that they didn't trust the touring fraternity. Perhaps they could give this some thought?

Overall, you get what you pay for - it's not the cheapest around, but you don't mind paying more if you're getting such excellent facilities.

Agree with most of the reviews that this is a lovely site and very well kept. For caravans or motorhomes the centre area is a delight. For tents however its not so good. Tents are not allowed on the centre area as this is clearly designed for vans with tarmac, hardstanding and grass.

The area where tents are allowed however is sloped with only about 4 of the pitches being relatively level. The pitches down near the new shower block are on quite a slope (which is where we were). They really need to terrace these pitches to level them off. Considering all the work they have put into the rest of the site it should not take too much effort to solve the problem.

As others have said the showers are really good but they have no windows and as my wife is claustrophobic they were not ideal for her. Solved the problem by showering together. At present there are no dish washing facilities at the new shower block which means a long walk from the tent area to the larger block. I believe the site are going to put dish washing at the second block within six months.

Lovely walks around the site and area and there is a nice walk into Great Dalby where the Royal Oak pub is under new management and has been well refurbished. We had Sunday lunch and it was excellent.

Breakfasts on the site are very good and all freshly made.

Considering the site is less than 2 years old they have done a remarkable job in getting it to the state in which it is and it can only get better as the lovely planting around the site matures.

This is now our number one site. Beautiful toilet/showers, clubhouse great. Be sure to have at least one of their breakfasts. Be sure you have long water/aerial connections as some are a bit far from the service post. Beautifully kept grounds, so quiet. Only thing is the distance from the town of Melton Mowbray if you like to walk into town for a drink or two and walk back, we used taxis at £7 each way, although the clubhouse has a decent choice of drinks, Doom Bar and Thatchers Gold at the time of our visit. One reason it is so quiet though is its distance from the main road so you can't have it all. Would have been nice to have the wifi covering the pitches as well as the clubhouse. Was a bit miffed at the recycling bins being emptied at 8. 15am - we are on holiday! Every member of staff we met were brilliant and helpful. We absolutely loved this site, so much we have already booked Easter next year.

Lovely site. Leaving the road and entering the long driveway with well manicured grass creates a good impression. Once you have booked in you turn round in the car park and go back a short wayup the driveway to the touring area which has a barrier controlled by a keypad. The pitches are around a small lake with ducks and other wildlife. Each pitch is made up of tarmac, wide enough for a caravan and car. To the side is a gravelled area for awnings and a patch of grass, all surrounded by hedging, which in future will make each pitch quite private. All are fully serviced.

The disabled facilities were almost perfect. They consist of a wet room with piped music. Access was via key pad operated wide door. Easily accessible with wheelchair or scooter. The only thing that was missing was a separate chair to dry yourself on. The seat to the WC was broken so I reported it to reception

A member of staff was immediately despatched to make temporary repairs. It was replaced with a new seat the next day. Access from the touring area to reception/clubhouse was via a tarmac road and a good ramp into the building. Access around the fishing lakes was via a gravelled road and was quite easy. The site was very quiet and peaceful

The people that own eyekettlby are friendly, helpful and very pleasant nothing is to much trouble for them. The toilets and showers are always clean, the site is also very clean and tidy as are all the lakes.

There is a bar where the staff are really nice, the chip van goes up there on a Wednesday evening so you can have your fish and chips in the bar with a drink, which they supply your plates etc and then clean away after you.

We have been to eyekettleby three times now and are going back again next year and would recommend it to anybody.

There are plenty of shops in Melton Mowbray, plenty of pubs that do really nice meals, as do eyekettleby site.

Fist time stay at this location. Staff are very friendly, camp site very clean. Toilet and showers are 5+ so beautiful. The fishing was slow due to weather been hot. I saw with my own eyes the amount of fish in all ponds but due to hot weather the fish only wanted to do what we do ' sun-bathe lol. There was that many fish you could of used them as stepping stones in the carp pond, some really big carp in there. The cooked breakfast is a must, extremely good cooked food it's a shame they don't cook evening meals. The entire land has such beauty. All ponds are very well kept. All land is very well kept and you always saw the staff working here and working there always doing something to keep the beauty of the land. Camping pitches are kept lovely. Price of fishing is excellent. I really can't say anything negative about the site or the staff. I would most of all recommend this site to anyone, and will be going back myself to fish when it's not so hot this time.

This site is something else! If Carling did caravan sites this would be the one!

The welcome was so friendly and the information you get given on a pre printed sheet is absolutely fantastic. Local pubs, shops, eateries opening hours locations, taxi numbers, food delivery, local whats going on. The site has a shop and bar and lots of area to sit and relax. Myself and my partner went there originally for the fishing and we were blown away with the place. 7 lakes to choose from. Breakfast delivered to your peg! and throughout the day someone comes round selling refreshments. The standard of the site. Toilets and showers are 5star+ and no hotel has been better than what I experienced. The local town of Melton Mowbray is about 4 miles away and has everything you may need to pick up. There are lodges on site with their own private lake to fish and Jacuzzi for afterwards for that special occasion of which I will be doing later in the year. It is dog friendly and very relaxing for them too! This site has just got to be visited if you have not already. Get it booked!
