And I thought Polstead was the best site I have been to ! Now I must say this is the best I have been to. All facilities are perfect and if you are an angler it is perfect 7 lakes to choose from with good carp, tench and bream, I prefer my awning on grass not hardcore so the higher number pitches for me, the others are 'superior' pitches with waste water tv etc but to me that takes a little bit away from the camping experience. Good bar and clubhouse

I have to agree with the other reviews. This is a great site. Being adults only, Its nice and quiet and it is set in lovely grounds with plenty of fishing lakes (I didn’t bring my rods on this trip, but I will on the next)
The toilets are the best I have ever seen on a campsite, in fact they are better than a lot of hotels I have stayed in.
There is a club house on site, which is nice to sit in of an evening and have a few beers and chat to the neighbours and the friendly staff.
Melton Mowbray is only a short drive away and has a great market on a Tuesday which takes over the whole town.
All in all a fantastic site which we will be visiting again very soon hopefully.
If I was to pick one thing they could improve, (and I really am nitpicking here) it is that the site is mainly geared up for Caravans rather than tents. It would be nice to have a separate field for tents that had a bit more shelter from the wind.

We couldn't like this site. Yes, the toilets and shower facilities were the best you can find and better than some hotels. We felt the relaxed feeling of camping was lost.
Our pitch was at the back as tents are allowed in one area. There is a hard standing next to each pitch but only a small patch of grass to put the tent. Our tent sleeps 4 people and it barely fitted on the grass area. On one side we couldn't peg our guy ropes and on the other side we had to place them in the hedge. This was OK but when the hedge has grown, this will be worse. The size of the grass also meant we had nowhere to put chairs to sit outside and so we had to sit inside the tent all the time. Luckily the weather wasn't too good so we would have done this anyway but if it has been nice, we would have frustrated by this as camping is about being in the fresh air.
One of the most expensive sites we have been to recently because every pitch has power and water which we didn't need to use.
On the road to the tent area, there is a lovely large area of grass which would be perfect for tents but it isn't used.

Just back from 4 days here.
We were using a tent so there is a dedicated area for tents which is between the touring caravan park and open fields.
It is slightly higher than other parts of the site and can have a breeze.
The owners have planted hedges between pitches recently and these will make the pitch more private in a couple of years.
Each pitch, even for tents, has a EHU and water supply.
The site is obviously well used by fishing enthusiasts (and must be pure heaven for them!), but has lots to offer besides this.
Customer service and efficiency is excellent.
Good ales/bar and prices seemed similar to usual pub prices. Full breakfast is very nice and again reasonably priced.
The main building and toilets/showers are all log cabins. You step inside these and it really is like a 4/5* hotel. Immaculately clean. Luxury plain and simple. You really need to see it to believe it.
The girl at reception provided lots of information on eateries locally and even takeaway menus who deliver to your pitch.
Oakham Rutland and of course Melton all close by.
It is really hard to find fault here, if I were to suggest one thing it would be maybe add table/chairs, either provided or available to hire, especially in the tent area.
However this is only a suggestion as after a relaxing 4 days there we are already going back in a couple of months.
This is a relatively new touring site, having only been open a couple of years, but from what I have seen its already the nicest site I have visited, including outside the UK.

This was our first visit to this site and it won't be our last.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming on arrival, there is a small shop which sells fresh bread and essentials. The site is well kept and very peaceful apart from the bird scarers which have been mentioned.
Our pitch was spacious, we weren't on the posh all service pitches in the middle near the lake, we opted for the lesser priced ones but still had electric and a water tap we found these less manicured which we like.
The facilities are lovely, warm and clean, having your own bathroom is great but there was quite a wait sometimes to use the loo as there were no separate ones. They were building another block so I hope this is going to be addressed.
It is about a twenty minute walk across the fields to Melton, ask in reception for details. There was a massive car boot sale in the cattle market which I believe is a regular thing on a Sunday.
The on site pub/club was nice and comfy and the bar staff friendly, there was a singer guitar player on while we were there and he was first class. They provide free wifi in the bar and reception area.
The log cabins looked luxurious and all have hot tubs.
The lakes were nice to walk around but as we don't fish can't comment on that.
All in all we would visit again, it was a nice relaxing place.

Excellent site with excellent toilet/shower rooms. Pitches are spacious and fully services pitches are available. The clubhouse does an excellent full English breakfast and has entertain some weekends. Ideal location for peace and quiet. Beautiful lakes for fishing, although we don't fish we enjoyed walking around watching other 'fishermen'. Adult only site so no ball games etc to spoil the tranquillity.

1st time visit, arrived late afternoon, staff waited and still went out of their way to make sure we were settled in, Toilet block is amazing, best I have seen yet,
The pine log cabin, bar, shop, cafe was very very nice, entertainment not bad, good selection of beers,
Tried 3 lakes for fishing, caught decent fish to 7lb on all 3 lakes,
Lovely walks around the lakes,
Adults only, quiet,
Not much to do in the week, but a lovely site,
Local take aways will deliver to your fully serviced pitch.
We will return next season,
PS don't tell anyone

Just returned from a 8 night break at this site.
This is our second visit over the last year.
This site is well maintained with all the pitches, around the lake are fully service including TV Hookup with Tarmac Hardstanding for caravan /Gravel for Awning and you have a bit of grass where you can sit and eat your barbecue.
I would think 8 Toilet/Showers and Disabled Unit would be sufficient but they have now been building two new unisex toilet blocks.
This time we heard Bird Scarers / Shooting in the surrounding field this was the first time we have heard this.
Staff are friendly and polite and give excellent service. Clubhouse/Restaurant/Shop is also good. They also do a really great breakfast for customers/Anglers and nothing is to much trouble.
Fishing ponds can be reserved for matches
You also can hire a Lodge for a week/shortbreak.
This site is roughly 3 miles from Melton Mowbray which is a good sized market town and there is a great Fishing Tackle Shop if you say you new to the area and what Groundbait do you suggest to fish at Eye Kettleby Lakes the staff are very helpful. We have booked another visit to this site in July
The owner's do a great job well done.

We have just spent 7 nights at this site we booked 5 at first but extended it by 2 nights as we had such a great time. This was our first visit in our van but we had visited friends here last year.
The site is so well laid out with plenty of space between pitches even though it was fully booked (60 pitches) it never felt overcrowded there are some great walks round the site plus the bonus of 7 fishing lakes to choose from.
The reception/clubhouse is a delight serving breakfast then evening drinks the staff were very friendly and helpful that lead to a very relaxing break.
Melton livestock market and collectors sale is well worth a visit on a Tuesday
Plus some great pubs one of which gives you 10% discount if you tell them you are staying at eye kettlebury lakes.
This site will certainly improve when all the young trees and hedge rows mature

Beautiful well laid out site. Everything was maintained at a very high standard. The shower and toilet facilities are excellent, the site was busy and we were concerned that the number of showers would be a problem This was not the case and as the previous reviewer states they are in the process of building two new blocks. Each cubicle has a key code and inside there is a dressing area with mirror and hair dryer. A separate loo, hand basin and proper shower are also provided. The room is heated with piped music.
No noise from the clubhouse which seemed well used when we visited on the Saturday evening. If you need wifi it is available free but only in the reception/club area not on the pitches. The website has lots of info, we ate at the Bell public house, the food was good but poor service. We had intended to eat at the Blue Bell Inn at Hoby but this was fully booked. Maybe next time.
The only fault was the local farmers bird scarers which woke us up early every morning hopefully these will stop as the crops grow. Also visited the Bison farm just north of Melton and bought some steak. Not tried yet though.
