First time here as told the grandaughter we would take her camping where there was a swimming pool. Not my normal sort of site that I visit but ideal for the children and agree with previous comments regarding cleanliness of the toilets/showers,friendliness of the staff and the pool,ok the pool was busy most of the time but the children love it. Went to the Tree Tops bar once-very quiet and the locally brewed Plassey bitter ok,however I found the Plassey better at the golf club and as previously mentioned was child friendly and did good but basic meals. Agree with comment about the nearby Cross Foxes and the superb but quite pricey food, lovely garden there overlooking the river Dee and enjoyed a late meal there whilst watching a kingfisher on the river, also excellent real ales there. But for top quality Plassey bitter I would recommend The Cross Lanes hotel where I was told the brewer of Plassey beers drank. May return if the grandaughter so asks.

This is a great site - very helpful friendly staff. The site is well patrolled by the staff who don't allow noise after 11pm and do take action if this rule is not adhered to.
I went with my 10 yr old son and we had a great time - although the weather was dreadful - very wet the whole time, we still enjoyed the site.
The showers were always hot and clean and even though this was middle of school hols I never had to wait to shower. Washing facilities were adequate and under cover. The pool was great although I do feel £2.00 for 1 1/2 hours was a bit steep on top of the camp fees.
Would visit again and recommend as a safe secure park - for single mums like myself.

This is a great site lots of space and plenty to do. Always full which is a good sign. Toilets are first class and clean and tidy. Site is near to town so if you like shopping this is the site for you. A little on the dear side, but well worth it. Loved our stay and we use this like a home from home. The only down side is a lot of the time they are full so book early.

This s a very nice site in a fascinating area. There is lots to do locally. It is close enough to Erddig to be able to make a nice walk across country (approx 6 miles return). The campsite sell a booklet of local walks for £1.
In peak season the site was very busy even though we deliberately avoided weekends. There are a lot of tourers left onsite & presumably these people turn up at weekends. Our children aged 9 & 13 loved the facilities which include a very good play area, badminton & table tennis (both under cover) & a lovely indoor swimming pool (extra charge £2 per person per session). The pool gets packed & they run timed sessions-rather too crowded when full. The local fishing is not very good I'm told but the golf course looked good (I don't play so am not an expert). The shops in the craft centre were interesting. We did not try the food but the view from the tea garden was superb.
If you value some peace I would recommend asking for a pitch in Spring Meadow on arrival. The staff were fantastically helpful. Our pitch had lovely views over the valley with cows grazing in the adjacent field! The toilet blocks were cleaned twice daily and were of a good standard but not exceptional.
Overall a great site for families, best avoided in very busy periods & completely if you don't like children! The camping in the main field is very crowded & busy but everyone did seem to respect the quiet time of 10pm - 8am.

Lovely site. Nicely laid out. Shower blocks clean and well presented.
Son 14 thoroughly enjoyed himself. Plenty to do on site for him.A family site, lots of cricket, rounders etc.
Shame the pool was so packed every time we went in. What happened to the discount scheme talked about previously by the owner?
Didn't think much of the bar, nothing going on there considering it is only open three hours an evening.
Visited many places in surrounding area all reasonably priced.Even took the train to Liverpool. Wrexham good town. Chester fantastic, Ellesmere (not port) superb deli.
Try the cross foxes for a meal out, not cheap, but fantastic food.

Excellent site totally agree with other reviews. One exception they list fishing on site. Fellow anglers don't expect too much. Everything else including weather perfect came home fully relaxed. Prices throughout where very good with the exception of the site grocers / supplies example' electric hookup £99.00?' so don't forget to take one. Lovely pool could be expensive but I think if it were free demand could be overwhelming. Food at the golf club good. Service a bit slow but then not many staff. Play park good my 4 year old loved it also the old steam roller near the garden centre lots of photos. Tree top bar very nice but got crowded at weekend lovely family atmosphere all staff we meet were friendly and very helpful well deserving of its 5 star rating

We've just returned from a long weekend here, it was our first camping trip and wow, we went with two other families and we had a lovely time. The weather was fab and the whole park had a lovely friendly feel about it, I felt my sons age 6 and 10 could have some freedom. We were based opporsite the park and the boys could go off and enjoy themselves, and be within our view.
The toilets and showers were spotless and the swimming pool area was nice and very clean. The boys also had lots of use from the badminton and table tennis tables (which are free to use if you have your own equipment) and there was also pool tables and a few arcade machines. The shop was small but had all the basics. Wrexham town is only about a 10 minute drive away and is a nice town with all the shops you need plus a Tesco superstore.
We'll definitely be returning there, in fact us and 3 other families are booking up again for early August. All in all, a very clean, friendly and welcoming site, set in lovely surroundings, very relaxing and well worth a visit.

Loved this site !
Facilities were excellent, loads to do when your not sitting enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Toilets / showers cleanest I have seen, and with added music to shower to !
Only problem is you have to book early as it gets full up really quickly !

Have just bought a tent and came here on the recomendation of friends. Was happy with the pitch we were given, plenty of space / flat / quiet. Around the play area it was a lot busier and noisier with gangs of small children charging from side to side, all just having a good time but we would have struggled to get our 1 year old to sleep if we had been there. By 10pm everywhere was quiet.
Shower blocks were modern and clean, two to choose from which did get busy 9/10am. Most people seemed to be in touring caravans with awnings rather than tents, maybe because it was early in the season?
The pool was nice, shop was well stocked and the site is attached to a development of converted barns/buildings that house a little museum, shops, cafe and a restaurant.
Close to Erdigg Hall/Gardens and Llangollen for days out and close to Wrexham for shops / supermarkets.

We stayed here during half term week. When we arrived we requested a pitch near to the children's play area, and were shown to our pitch by a member of staff. The pitch was sloping. There was a single paving slab to mark the pitch, and we were asked to put our jockey wheel on or as near as possible to this. We did this, started to level the van, having to hook up again to put a chock under one wheel, unhooked and wound down the corner steadies only to discover that because of the slope the rear ones did not reach the floor! This meant having to hook up to remove the chock and move the van and start all over again. With 5 children desperate to be set free from the car this was a pain to say the least.
Once settled it was a good pitch - it rained quite heavily, and we were worried about the water running down the slope and swamping us, but it was fine. We didn't take a football as when we were sent the rules for the site it said no ball games, but despite lots of notices saying no ball games lots of families and children were playing in the space in front of our van - cricket, rugby, football and even rounders. It made for a nice family atmosphere on the site.
Our older three, 13 and two 10 year olds, took full advantage of the games room, table tennis and badminton courts, the cost of playing was reasonable although we felt the deposits to hire equipment were a bit steep (e.G. £6.50 to hire table tennis stuff)- they were more than their pocket money, so we were being hassled for cash!
The pool was spotlessly clean, and the water was warm, but the air temperature was a bit cold for our baby, also I couldn't seem to find a nappy changing area in the changing rooms, so had to balance the baby on the low bench seat to change him - not great for my back, and difficult to change myself as I was trying to stop him rolling off! It was £2 each to use the pool, and the pool opened for sessions that were strictly one and a half hours long, and the pool closed on the dot for half an hour before the next session. If you didn't arrive at the beginning of a session then you didn't feel like you got your money's worth, and to echo other reviews, considering the price of the pitch what was in effect an extra tenner a day to swim (our two youngest were free) made for an expensive week. In fact for about the same price(£10) we visited Plas Madoc Leisure Centre which is about 10 mins drive away down the by-pass - a big warm pool which is built to be like a beach (great for our toddler) with a wave machine and slides, and spent about 3 hours there. We went at tea time and the pool was virtually empty despite being school holidays. Would thoroughly recommend a visit there.
As there had been quite a lot of rain during the week, we asked if we could be pulled off the pitch by a tractor if necessary and the staff were very accommodating, and just wanted 15 mins notice if we needed help. But this service is only offered during normal working hours as they don't want to disturb others with the noise. We planned to leave late in the evening to travel at night, if you do the same, or leave sites early, be aware that the bollards are put in place from 10pm until 8am so between those times you can't get out!
Overall a lovely site, the only drawback for us was the price bearing in mind the cost of extras such as the pool. Also the fact that it was not as baby friendly as it might have been, with a pram we didn't use the Treetops bar - lots of steps put us off, and although there was a nappy changing area in the toilet we felt that would have been better placed in the pool area.
The site is well placed to do lots of things (Chester Zoo and Park Hall Farm are well worth a visit). Lots of facilities, helpful staff and the washroom we used was spotlessly clean. Will probably visit again, maybe at a cheaper time.
