Plus points
Lovely countryside
Very well maintained
Lots of grass for kids to play on
Excellent toilets / showers
Quiet at night
Indoor swimming pool
Minus points
Pitches a bit close together
Swimming pool works out expensive for a family of five
Niggly rules - don't even think about chucking some logs on your bbq, having a game of cricket with the kids or jumping in the swimming pool.
Bar overlooking the main green only opens at 7:30, when I'm wanting to head back to the tent to get the kids to bed.
The niggly rules especially spoilt it somewhat for me, but I spoke to plenty of people there who loved the site.

Just back from 3 nights camping on Plassey, and a pleasurable one too, the staff were really nice and very helpful.
The place is spotless and this time of year is perfect for a little break and some quiet time after the busy holidays, pitches were generous and level. The coffee shop is ideal for a beautiful light lunch or coffee and cake, temptations is a lovely little sweet shop, there are some really nice walks to do in the area. The pool is great a good size and only us in it.
Prices are fab for 3 adults a dog and ehu only £22. 00 pn. A very secure and welcoming little gem of a site. Despite the gales, pitched on a beautiful spot overlooking lovely welsh hills we will definitely visit again.
Thank you Plassey.

There are plenty of deserved comments about the cleanliness and the facilities offered by the site. Both the toilet / shower blocks were spotless every time.
We were there during school holidays and over the a weekend so I am guessing the site was full, or very close. Not once did I have to queue to get the washing-up done.
On the downside. The pool is £2. 20 per person for 90 minutes - that came to £11. 00 for us five.
No footballs, unless they are foam. Whoever heard of a foam football? not me.
No cycling - yet there is a shop that hires bikes on site.
Don't get me wrong, this is a great site with plenty to do in Chester and North Wales but do be aware of what I found to be a slightly niggly set of rules.

This is a really lovely site, maintained to a high standard and with lots of attention to detail. The staff were really helpful and friendly. It's quite a large site - there are lots of permanent caravans - but it never felt unduly busy or crowded, and we did not have to queue for washing up or showers even though we were there at peak times.
The main attraction of the site for us was the swimming pool, and it did not disappoint. You do have to pay extra for it, but the pool is a good size, beautifully clean and very warm. We were a bit concerned before we went because they (very sensibly) limit the number of people in the pool to 30 at any time, and we were worried we might end up queueing or not getting in. In practice, however, the pool rarely got up to those numbers, and as long as you arrived at the start of the session there was never a problem. There are 4 sessions in the day so plenty to choose from.
Do note that bicycles and hard balls are not allowed on the site - it's scooters and foam balls only.
In terms of location, Wrexham is a nice town to visit and Llangollen and its surrounding attractions (ruined monastery, ruined hilltop fort, canal with horse-drawn boats, steam railway) are charming. There's some good walking and excellent mountain biking to be had, and Chester (including the zoo) is not too far.

We booked a 3 night break with Plassey Leisure Park about 4 weeks ago. We have a Hartford XL tent, which is larger than average, and as such I always ask if the campsite can accommodate us.
The person I spoke to when booking the pitch confirmed that the size of our tent was not an issue. However upon arrival, my husband made a joking reference to the size of our tent and the receptionist immediately asked us for the size of our tent. There was a lot of concern, but ultimately they decided that they could accommodate us.
With the help of a friendly staff member, we were shown to our pitch. There were concrete markers identifying the size of each pitch. The staff member explained to us that these markers were for the jockey wheel of caravans, which we took to understand that they were in the centre of our pitch.
He helped us lay our tent’s footprint, and we ended up with our tent lining up to the right of the concrete marker, with a trailer tent on our right and another tent on our left. He helpfully showed us the nearest drinking water tap and ablutions, and informed us of the country club and Treetops bars hours.
After pitching our tent and feeding our 2 young children, we went for a wander around the campsite. During this walk we made the following observations:
It is immaculately kept but very big. And as we were there during August summer holidays, it was fully booked. So you can imagine our surprise when we examined the nearest ablutions to find in total only 5 toilets and 4 showers each for males and females.
We did later find the newer ablution block which had another 3 showers and more toilets each. Although I did not have to wait for a shower at any time, my husband did, and I did have to queue for the loo on more than one occasion. Admittedly I could have walked to toilets further away.
When I used the shower, the cubicle seemed narrow, and I found it difficult to change into my jeans is I couldn’t quite stretch my legs out. I’m not abnormally tall or wide, but I felt very awkward, especially as the cubicle I used had no shower curtain, making the whole floor area wet and slippery. I must just add though that the facilities were always kept spotlessly clean, with the exception of the toilets under Treetops on Saturday night.
It seemed to us that the park catered mainly for caravans and that campers in tents were more of an after thought. The tent field was right at the back of the complex, and therefore quite a walk (with 2 little children) to toilets, showers or dishwashing facilities.
The caravans are all parked up in circular areas, with a large grassy green in the middle, where children could play safely. The tents were all lined up down a road, with very little provision for children to play safely.
We had a pitch that backed up onto a hedge, although to be fair, if we had camped on the other side of the road they could have played on a grassy area behind the tent.
There was a lovely playground area for the children, where they had a great time clambering up the climbing frames and whizzing down the slides. They also loved exploring in the bushes nearby. We spent a good few happy hours watching them enjoy themselves and interact with other children.
There was a covered area for snooker, badminton and table tennis, which we didn’t use as our children are too little.
We wandered around the “shopping” complex but didn’t venture into any of them. A fellow camper told us there was a real old fashioned sweet shop with wonderful sweets and the best ice cream.
We did try the Treetops Bar one evening. They had a good selection of ales, and the lady behind the bar was very friendly. I wouldn’t have liked to be camping near here though, as it seemed very noisy when I walked past it to the toilets at 10:30p.m on the Friday night.
There is a lovely nature trail and walk that is about 2 miles long, suitable for little legs with lots of sheep, cows and horses to admire, hissing ducks to chase and golfers to watch.
The swimming pool is small and warm. The changing rooms were immaculate. It cost £2. 20 per person for a 1 hr 30 mins session, although they didn’t charge us for our 2 year old. The shallow end is perfect for small children as they can stand safely and enjoy their independence. It was fairly busy when we used it, but not alarmingly so.
We did venture outside of the campsite a couple of times, and can highly recommend visits to Chirk (the aqueduct and Blackies tunnel were a huge success with the 4 year old) and Llangollen (which happened to have Thomas the Tank at the steam railway, a guaranteed winner for little boys). The surrounding countryside is absolutely beautiful.
When we arrived back in the early evening of our third night, we met our new camping neighbours. We were surprised to see how very close they had pitched to our tent, and in general conversation it turned out that they had been told that the concrete markers marked the boundaries of each pitch. Consequently, we now had ¾ of a pitch, as on our right we had a trailer tent utilising the concrete marker as the base for its jockey wheel. There wasn’t much privacy, even with a windbreak, and when we were lying in our bed, we could have quite easily touched our neighbours camp chairs through the canvas, if we felt so inclined.
We think Plassey is probably a great place for older children, but we personally felt that it was too big and cramped for our young family.

This is a very large campsite and very well maintained. The staff are all helpful and friendly and the facilities were always clean.
Good points:
1. Hot showers, with temperature control so good for children.
2. Large grassy pitches with good views (we had a view of a field of cows who came to observe our bbq each night)
3. Good playground, table tennis tables and badminton court (covered).
4. Nice bar, which was child friendly.
5. Public areas well lit without lighting being intrusive.
Things we found less good:
1. Long walk to toilets- blocks are at either end of large site and we were about in the middle.
2. No ball games allowed, despite large grassy areas.
3. No bikes allowed - this was a real shame and really limited the children's enjoyment of the site. All campsites we have been to before have allowed bikes and we couldn't see any obvious reason why this site should be different.
4. Pool is small and runs on timed sessions which cost £2. 20 per person - so you have to be there at specific times or only get a short swim. We only used it on a really rainy day and the children said they wouldn't want to go again to that pool.
There is a craft shop complex on the site but we didn't eat or drink there.
Great NT property nearby with marked cycle trails for slightly older children was the saving grace.
Might go again although not that much to do in the area.

The Plassey Leisure Park provides a relaxing destination for touring. Well kept pitches, in particular the super pitches which are very spacious. T
His is a very quiet site with little traffic so safe for children. Treetops bar has a lovely atmosphere and the restaurant on site serves delicious meals at unbelievably low prices.
The only thing which disappointed me was the lack of shower facilities, only 3 in one toilet block. There was a dedicated shower block at the other end of the site but the showers were cold. Owner's comments: Please note that we have a total of 17 showers on the park :- 7 in the main Amenity building, 6 in the Shower block next to Reception, and 2 in toilet block next to the Swimming Pool, and 2 in the Swimming Pool building itself. The "dedicated shower block", as mentioned, had an issue with a faulty boiler for 1/4 day in early August, and was fixed within 1 hour as soon as we were notified. All our showers are powered showers, free of charge & with individual temperature controls - for these reasons we find that customers enjoy the showers so much that they do spend a time in them. Whilst I am reluctant to put up signage in the showers, this may have to be called upon so that it draws their attention both to being respectful to others that are waiting, and the wastage of water / environmental resources. Many thanks, John Brookshaw. Owner"
Despite this I would return to the park as the setting was lovely and the site attractive and clean

This was our first time touring Wales and we had a fantastic, but in hindsight too short a stay on this site. We have travelled extensively throughout Europe and Ireland but have never come across such friendly staff and superb facilities. The site has everything we look for and more. You have golf, sauna, badminton, small but adequate swiming pool, pub and good walks. There are also a number of small shops including the Plassey Ale brewery. The bar is small but nice with a very friendly couple running it and the local Plassey Ale is worth trying. You can choose between the on site restaurant or the club house for a nice meal. I cannot rate the cleanliness of the toilets and showers highly enough. The site was busy but did not give the impression of being crowded. The site is second to none and we will most definitely return in the future.

We have only been caravanning for just over 3 years but we have already stayed on Best of British, The Caravan Club, and Camping and Caravan Club sites from Scotland to Cornwall. The Plassey was in fact the very first site we visited by recommendation from friends.
Therefore we are pleased to say that this is our 3rd year of visiting Plassey and we have just returned again nicely relaxed from our 3rd visit this year. I am confident you will agree that it’s extremely rare to find a site that offers everything to a wonderfully high standard but this one truly does. The site and facilities are immaculately maintained with friendly and happy staff members who really do make you feel very welcome, and who also regularly patrol all areas of the site even after dusk. The site is ideally suitable for all age groups, a great location for families with children or like us being semi retired who just want to relax and enjoy the environment and excellent on site facilities. I also manage to enjoy a couple of games of golf whilst my wife visits the craft & garden centre. So again thanks and congratulations to you all and we will see you again soon. Derek & Kath and Dinky our West Highland Terrier who thinks it’s his 2nd home.

This is a very well run site with friendly wardens and staff. After booking in we were shown to our pitch and help to site was available to site if required.
We had a deluxe pitch with views over the golf course. The pitch was spacious with 16amp elec, water, grey waste, digital TV and satellite connection. The non deluxe pitches did however look very close together and I would not have wanted to stay in one of these.
The facilities were extensive with swimming pool (£2.20 each session), 9 hole golf course, 9 hole pitch and put and the worst driving range I have ever seen - £2.50 for @30 balls with sheep dung everywhere! There is also some art and crafts type shops on site including a brewery.
Within 300yds of the entrance there is a fantastic farm shop and Wrexham is close enough for the major supermarkets.
