Friendly welcome and staff in general were very friendly and helpful. Large grass pitch, somewhat larger than the hard standing pitches! Washroom clean but I didn't think the hot water was that hot. Good laundry and washing up facilities.
The pub on the site entrance is excellent for local ciders and real ale but although the portions of food are generous I wouldn't call them cheap, especially if you have children with you. You must book for meals even just for the bar menu at weekends. The place gets packed. This leads to a slight problem with noise on the site on a Saturday night, although by 11. 30 pm it was pretty quiet. Otherwise it's a quiet peaceful place.
Slimbridge is just down the road, canal next door. Ideal location in that respect. If you want to stay after the 11 am check out time and your pitch is not booked then it's £5. We stayed until late in the afternoon thereby prolonging a lovely weekend.
Overall we enjoyed our long weekend there and the site is on the whole peaceful but be warned if you have children, there are no play facilities for them! Will definitely return.

Lovely site. Well kept and the shower/toilets were spotless.
The pub on the corner was brilliant and the food was gorgeous. They have a skittle alley in the pub and this was highly amusing to play
Nice walk along the canal looking at the barges and wildlife. Weather was superb
There is a bird wildlife sanctuary over the bridge at the end of the lane. We didn't go in but will be very popular with bird lovers.

Just had a lovely weekend at this site. We, that's myself, Sue and Nellie the dog, turned up on spec in our camper van on Friday morning. There were no EHU pitches left but we were made welcome and given the choice of pitches in one of three nice meadows. We chose to pitch in the field closest to the shower block as it was the flattest.
There were plentiful water points dotted around the site and a motorhome service point just by the toilet block. This was for fresh water and grey and black disposal (presumably on your way out), there was also a chemical disposal point at back of the new toilet block.
The toilet and shower facilities were excellent, nice and clean and looked almost new. The showers were of the push button variety which annoyingly cut off every 15 seconds but were hot and there was plenty of room to dry and dress in the cubicles.
There was also a laundry room but we didn't try it out.
There are about 80 electric pitches, almost all of which were on hard standings with only a few along the edge of the second meadow. There appeared to be an area that was 'reserved' for permanent or seasonal pitches, this was off up a track to the left as you enter the site and it didn't look as inviting as the rest. There was also another toilet block here but we didn't go in so can't comment.
The site is behind the Tudor pub, turn left into the car park just before you get to the swing bridge for the canal.
We didn't try the pub but it did seem very popular, the car park was always full and there was a band playing on the Saturday night but we never noticed any noise.
We did try the cafe over the road, very nice food it was too though a little expensive we thought.
There's a visiting mobile chippy on Saturday nights, 5:30 til 7:30 while we were there. Cod and Chips £5. 50 cooked fresh while you wait. Not bad value at all.
The site was very busy for the whole weekend we were there but was also very quiet and peaceful, most people had bedded down by 11 ish. There are no playground facilities for the children so I guess this contributed to the overall peaceful feel too!
The site is right next to the Gloucester and Sharpness ship canal with Sharpness being some 4. 5 miles distant and Gloucester around 13 miles. The walk to Sharpness is worth the effort (over the bridge and turn left), it's obviously flat being along the towpath and you get to see the countryside. The occasional passing boat and a wave and 'hello' from the captain adds to the charm. About halfway along is Purton where the river Severn runs close to the canal. Here you can explore a 'ships graveyard' containing the remains of around 90 boats, barges and ships beached on the foreshore between 1900 and 1975. You'll also see the remains of the original Severn Rail crossing that was destroyed in an accident in Oct 1960.
If you do walk the canal then we advise that you take supplies with you as there are no shops or cafes etc along the way. The towpath takes you round into Sharpness Marina and the original old docks. If you cross the marina via the footbridge and walk up the steps and further on up the hill you'll pass two derelict cottages on the left before reaching the Dockers Social Club. Visitors were welcomed and we sat outside in the sunshine with a pint and a meal while we looked over the current docks which are still working.
Overall, the site was good value at £16 pn inc Nellie and the awning, can't really fault the facilities or the site and the area's just great. We'll be back to this site.

We (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed at the site on the 2nd May bank holiday weekend.
The site is nicely located in the countryside and very close to the Sharpness Canal (which is nice).
We found the reception staff friendly and helpful. The area for tents is mostly level with some undulating areas. Easy to get pegs in.
The site was reasonably busy on the Friday and got a little busier on the Saturday.
The toilet/shower/washing up block was right up there with the best we've seen on a campsite. Loads of hot water, warm and we only had queues at the peak times. Impressive all round.
There was a fairly big area of grass in the middle of the camping field for the kids to play football and other games.
On the Friday night we witnessed a late night drunken row between a couple in an adjacent tent which took a bad turn (putting it mildly). We called the emergency number of the site (it was pretty late) and the warden phoned back and came to the field within 15 mins. He warned the couple that if they carried on, he'd call the police. It was a thoroughly unpleasant incident but the campsite were very prompt and dealt with it appropriately. The warden did further visits throughout the rest of the weekend. This was exactly the response from the campsite that one could hope for.
In summary - this is a very nice site. Pretty much everybody on the site was very friendly and it felt safe to let the kids run around and go to the toilet block by themselves.
We rate the site and would recommend it to others.

We stayed here so that we could visit Slim-bridge which is close by.
The site was a nice size & the toilets were clean & quite new.
The shop was poor not selling much at all. There is a shop opposite but it's opening times were short.
The dog walking was a field next to the tent field which was empty due to the time of year. This allowed the dog walk to be 2 small fields.
Apart from grass to play on there is nothing for children to do & if the site was busy I'm not sure how much grass would be left !
There is a pub next to the site which was really handy. The food was good pub food but not somewhere I would eat regularly.
There was also lots of good walks from the gate.
I would sum the site up by saying its a good clean site in a nice area with little gong on.
We would stay again if we wanted to go back to slim bridge but otherwise we wouldn't.

Only problem was the shower unit was unpleasantly cold for March. The advert boasts under floor heating, the reason we choose that site in March, so that was disappointing. Otherwise a fabulous site we will definitely visit again. The pitches are laid so that everyone gets the sunshine. There is great pub at the entrance of the camp site where the food is very acceptable. Lovely canal walks and good area for flat cycling. We hope to visit again soon.

Nice big open site. Good size pitches. Friendly staff. Large shower/toilet block that was warm and clean. Covered washing up area. Great on site dog walking area consisting of two very large and well kept fields. Just at the site entrance is a restaurant too. Next door is the canal, very pretty with canal boats moored up. A short drive away is the Slimbridge Wildlife Reserve. We walked it too. It's a bit pricey admittance wise but great for family day out.

We have just returned from a 4 day stay here. Very good site. Grass or hard standing. Electric or non electric, very reasonable prices, well maintained site. There is a selection of pegs etc in the reception and gas exchange available, but no shop. There is a cafe opposite and a pub/restaurant next door to site but no local shops.
The toilet/showers are very clean and nicely warm this time of year. We shall return. It is local to us but still 'away' :-).
There is no play ground etc for children.
The site is alongside a canal and good for touring the area. Although the road in from the A38 is a small road with lots of bends, just a thought for any one with a larger caravan.

Returned today from Tudor caravan park after a weekend break. The park is very well laid out with good sized hard standing available. The facilities are very well maintained and very clean. The pub and restaurant is directly outside the access gate to the camp site and serves very good real ale and meals (at reasonable prices). There is plenty to see locally including Slimbridge wildlife sanctuary.
Overall a very good campsite and will be returning again in the future.

This campsite for us is perfect for out of season camping. There are plenty of hard standing pitches, divided by grass, set out around the edge of the camping field; you have the functionality of hard standing pitches in the wet weather without that “carpark” feel. The Tudor Arms pub is right next door and has a good selection of real ales and serves food – perfect for dark evenings when you can’t sit outside! Slimbridge Wetland Centre is a 10 minute walk from the site, which was our reason for camping here, but the site is also adjacent to the Gloucester-Sharpness canal – we noticed that the café across the road hire cycles. I saw a sign in the toilets saying the café also sell basic provisions although we didn’t use it.
The toilet/shower block is modern with laundry and indoor dishwashing facilities. There is also a proper service area for motor homes, ie a good place you can drive up to and fill up with fresh water and dump your grey and black waste. There is a drain area to drive over – something which is essential for motor homes to drain grey waste and yet very rare on British campsites. Another plus point for this site is that they keep the grass nice and short.
We will definitely return to this site.
