Spent 6 nights at Slimbridge. Site is very neatly laid out but most of the hardstandings were quite close to each other and did require leveling blocks despite appearing to be level.

There were very few outfits on the site which was very good for us but I think the site could be quite crowded in summer.

The site is right next to a large canal and the grass areas were extremely wet and very soft. Getting our van onto the hard standing was impossible without running over the grass and there was quite a bit of damage to the grass areas caused by us and others. The toilet and shower facilities were excellent.

The bird sanctuary at Slimbrige is an easy level walk away. The pub is excellent and is right next to the site ( real ale, open fires, great food including home made pies!).

We like to use public transport ( mostly buses ) and not move the van and this was a problem. The site is actually quite isolated and there is a small post office in Slimbridge village but ( in January) no shop. The site reception only stocked maps and gas.

The nearest bus stop is on the main A38 which is nearly 2 miles from the site walking down a rather dangerous narrow road as it is the only access to the bird sanctuary. We actually walked down the canal towards Gloucester and turned right over the next bridge and followed this lane onto the A38 which was a bit further but much safer.

I would imagine in summer some shopping provision has to be made.

Directions to the site are easy. The postcode leads you to the lane opposite the site, but it is behind the pub through the pub carpark.

When you come to pay, you cannot use a debit card unless the amount is over £30 oddly, so take plenty of cash, the nearest atm is about 4 miles away.

The motorhome service point is very good with a dump station situated next to the new toilet block. Calor can also be purchased on site.

The perimeter road is rutted in places and holds lots of puddles, it is also badly lit at night and a torch is a necessity if visiting the toilets after dark. The new toilet block is very pleasant but access is poorly lit and the showers are luke warm. Water flow is poor as well.

There is an older toilet block in the adult area, but this was poorly heated, we did not use the showers in this case. The on site shop seemed poorly stocked.

The individual pitches were on gravel and drained well.

The site is right on the canal, turn left for Sheerness and right for Gloucester.

In summary we probably will not visit again as it seemed poor value for £17. 50 per night out of season.

It is not that it did not have good facilities, it was that there was not that extra bit of care, road lighting and warm showers, the things you look forward to, after a hard day walking in the winter.

Unfortunately we went at wrong time of year - everywhere really muddy, would be lovely in summer. The road seems to be quite a busy road, but no noise problems. Pub looked inviting but we didnt venture in. New toilets were clean, old block was open as well, they were adequate.

Seems to be a large site not sure I would like it if it were full. We spent a few days peace and quiet there, but I don't think I would go back. Thats just my personal choice nothing to do with the site. The walk to the canal is pleasant and ideal if you have dogs lots of boats moored along the banks.

This was our second visit. It is wonderfully situated for the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust Centre which is a short walk over the canal and down the road. There is also a cycle hire shop on the canal and we rented bikes and cycled one way and the following day walked with the dog along the canal towards Gloucester.

The site is level and between our visits the toilet/shower block and reception has all been upgraded and is very smart and clean. There is also a fair bit of hedge planting going on around the site.

We are a family with a child and whilst there are no on-site facilities there is plenty of room to ride a bike and lots to do close by as mentioned above.

The owners were very accommodating and allowed us to leave our motorhome parked up (although not on the pitch) past the leaving time whilst we went for a walk on the day we left.

We have eaten at the pub next door but not visited the cafe.

We would recommend it for its proximity to the Wetland Centre alone but there are plenty of other positives.

Amazing, spent one night in late Sept. Lovely walks along the canal that both my husband and I, and the dog enjoyed very much.

Fantastic facilities, lots of hot water and very clean. Lovely pub next door with ample outside seating.

Flat field so tent went up without problem. Couldn't believe how friendly everyone was, other campers, dog walkers all stopped for chats.

Booking in was simple with clear directional signage, on Sat night a mobile fish and chip van arrived and cooked the fish fresh.

We stayed here for one night on our way home - we've stayed at this site a few times as a stop off on our first or last night of holidays. Since we last stayed the smart new toilet block is open, it also has a well equipped laundry.

The showers are in nice large cubicles, they are free and the temperature is consistent and good. The pitches are all level and the site is immaculately maintained. The adjacent pub serves good food (we ate there, their home made desserts are delicious! We didn't notice any noise disruption from the pub at all.

The canal towpath is lovely for walking the dogs and gives me a chance to do some fantasy houseboat buying at the same time!

We paid £21 for pitch with electric hook up, which I think is reasonable, the site is ideally located near the M5, there is just a very faint distant hum of motorway traffic but not a disturbance at all.

We will definitely stay at this site again, we are planning a longer stay so we can actually explore the area rather than just passing through.

A very nice and clean site on flat ground. It's a 10 - 15 minute walk along a minor road to the Wildfowl and Wetlands centre. The site also sells for £1. 50 a folder of 4 local walks. The large canal next door to the site has a lot of interesting, mostly pleasure, traffic to look at and there is a nice canalside café to do that from. The new-ish toilet block is functional and clean, and has adequate hot water as far as we found. The first area is mostly caravans with a few tents, then there are 2 large green fields with almost only tents. On an August long weekend there was plenty of room in the middle of both of these fields for impromptu games of rounders and suchlike. There are nice views of the Forest of Dean hills across the Severn. The pub at the gate is relaxed and friendly, with real ale. The site gate closes at 10pm - good for everyone's peace - and latecomers or late returners can park in the pub car park till morning.

Spent a few nights at this campsite, owner very welcoming and site one of the best I have ever been to. Not far from canal in which I should have bought my fishing gear, but I shall remember for next time.

Facilities on site very clean and handy not being too far to stagger back from the pub.

Great to visit Slimbridge Wetland Trust, I suggest taking binoculars.

Plenty of tourist things to do as we see many brown signs a short distance away from campsite, only we didn't have time to visit any of them.

I chose the Tudor Caravan Park on the strength of all the reviews from previous visitors and I was really pleased to see it lived up to the very positive opinions. Had good and helpful correspondence whilst booking and also on arrival.

We were a group of four, two tents, two pitches (with ehu), next to each other on the canal side road which lead towards the large camping fields. Very nice large (all grass) pitches with small hedging dividing the next row behind us. I hope these few all grass pitches with ehu remain and most were graveled for motor homes/c'vans, not sure if there's ehu in the inner camping fields.

Arrived on a sat and it was busy but not anywhere near crowded and it got a little less busy during the week (non school holidays)

New shower block was great and mostly clean. Would of been good to have freezers in this new block too.

Setting was excellent, attached pub was very nice when we visited for a meal once and drinks another time. Lots to do nearby.

Would visit again!

This is a well maintained campsite with a brand new toilet and shower block. We were situated in the overflow area at the far side of the campsite as we booked late and did not need an electric hookup. However it was very peaceful and pleasant and still really close to the new toilet, shower and washing facilities. The campsite does have a freezer which you are allowed to use for freezer blocks however they do not permit food to be put in there and if you do put food in they throw it away! To access the campsite you need to drive through the pub carpark as the pub is literally on the doorstep of the campsite. The pub offered well priced basket meals and had a good range of activities including darts and pool. There is also a cafe over the road from the entrance to the campsite. The campsite was in a good location for venturing to both Bristol and Gloucester for days out and we did both. We are already considering a return visit.
