The Tudor Caravan Park is ideally located for the Slimbridge Wetland Centre and for walking along the Gloucester to Sharpness Canal.
It was advertised as a quiet country site however the Saturday afternoon was noisy with children playing in the centre of the camping meadow and Saturday night was noisy with the pub next door playing music until midnight.
The park was very busy over the weekend and when Sunday evening came it almost became empty so would make a nice midweek retreat.
The park itself was very nice, clean and friendly. There were some queues in the mornings for showers but it didn't cause us a problem, especially if you don't mind showering out of normal hours.
The pub next door was well priced for both food and drinks, it does get busy on the weekend and if you want to eat on a Saturday booking is advisable but it quietens down after 7PM.
The shop at the Boating Station stocked the essentials but if you do want bread get there early! And they don't sell loaves of bread they have freshly baked rolls etc.
If you want more than that and don't have a car, there is a shop about 3 miles down the canal in Frampton-on-Severn selling a wider range of goods and there is a Tesco in Cam but this is along main roads if you are walking.
We would visit the Tudor Caravan Park again, but because we like it to be quiet we would go during the week rather than the weekend.

We stayed here for our 1st camping trip. We were given a nice spot to pitch up. The warden was friendly and asked us how our journey down was. The toilets and showers were clean if a little outdated, only two showers, though I would imagine this being a problem in peak season. There was a pub only a few minutes walk from the site which serves very good food. We went out quite a lot in the day time so didn't spend much time onsite, but what time we did spend was peaceful and quiet. Excellent dog exercising area and it was lovely to see the hares running around. I would stay here again.

Having decided to break our homeward journey from the Lake District back to Devon, we spent a jolly morning in an internet cafe in Ambleside looking for a site (on UK Campsite of course) Not too far off the M5 but far enough that the traffic noise would not disturb our rest. This was our only criteria as it was only a one night stop. We picked a little gem - right next to the Gloucester and Sharpness canal (just enough activity to keep you happy while you sit on the bank with your morning paper) and adjacent to a pretty good pub with a comprehensive range of beers and meals. Alongside the bridge is a large shed / cafe, in which you can obtain milk, bread, papers and a few odds and ends, and cooked breakfasts - sit on the canal bank and eat al-fresco if the weather's good. Also right next door is the Slimbridge wildfowl centre, boat hire and cycle hire. The site itself is welcoming and very clean and tidy. We were on a grass pitch but hardstanding is being increased each year, The amenities block is a little basic, with only two showers in each side for the whole site, but on the whole it's very good value for money and we're certainly going back. An incredibly relaxing enviroment and well worth a visit.

Pleasant site with good grassy pitches. The toilet and shower blocks were very clean and well kept We stayed for a weekend and although there were only 2 shower cubicles we didn't find this a problem. Despite the "rules", we did, however, have a problem with the amount of noise after 2200 hrs. Good location.

A fantastic location with plenty of local walks. The welcome was warm and the loos clean. We never had to queue for a shower. The main part of the site is a flattish, featureless open field with a D -shaped gravel road running round it. Caravans go on the outside of the D against the fence and tenters were on the 'inside' of the road in the middle bit. We were there at Easter and so, unsurprisingly, there were masses of children on the site. They chose to play in this central area where all the tents were pitched. Which was the main disadvantage of the site - it's hard to relax and enjoy your barbecue when there are frisbees, full size leather footballs, cricket balls and huge kites flying around. And at Easter, the kids were a particularly noisy bunch! Although to be fair, they did quieten down about 9pm (probably because it was so cold - there was frost on the ground each morning we were there!) If we visited this site again, we'd probably ask if we could pitch our tent in the overflow/dog walking field. Which would be a lot quieter without kids, noisy gravel and caravanners holding conversations over the top of radio 2 but would mean a long trek to the loos. Breakfast at the boating canal cafe place just beside the entrance was great value, piping hot and served with a smile. They also do suppers on some evenings which we didn't try but wished we had after experiencing their breakfast on our last day. Their supply of milk, papers and other basics was quite helpful too. The adjacent pub was very handy, it had great range of cider, good real ale and they didn't seem to mind dogs in the outside 'roofless consevatory' area. A tip is to pre-book if you plan to eat there at peak times - we arrived on our last night to discover that they were only serving food (other than bagettes & chips) to people who had reserved tables in advance although the pub seemed virtually empty.

This is the fourth time we have visited this campsite since the late 90s. Stayed for two nights midweek and contrary to previous comments two very peaceful nights, only the screeching little owl disturbing us,perhaps its something to do with mid week stays out of season but we have not known any serious misbehaviour previously. Campsite is a large grassy area, which was immaculately cut, surrounded by trees/bushes. Yes the toilet block is small and there is a problem during peak periods but they are clean, the code entry system has gone by the way. This is a very good campsite for out door pursuits with the canal towpath being excellent for cyclists and walkers and also for birdwatchers with the wildfowl reserve just down the road,we enjoyed views of the celebrity status Glossy Ibis and Little Egret flew over the campsite however there is not a great deal to do for children. Yes the plus point is the Camra recommended pub by the campsite entrance with its excellent real ales and good food, there is a new outdoor enclosed area suitable for children and dogs are allowed inside as well as on the campsite. There is a small shop just by the campsite entrance with limited supply but for a big shop head for the super market at Cam. Prices have increased since my last visit(£13/night for two) but they do seem to be improving the park mainly though for more hard standing for caravans.

We stay at this site for two nights every year. One night on the way to our main holiday and another on the way back to break the journey. Yes the showers need attention and I personally wouldn't want to stay in the 'orchard' where it's adults only as there's little privacy and looks a bit glum. The owner tells us that planning permission for a new toilet/shower block is the problem. However, the main field has always been fine for us and the children love the open space to play. If you want a site with lots of modern amenities it's not for you. The site is deceivingly flat but is rutted as previously mentioned. The local pub/restaurant right at the entrance has been extended with a lovely conservatory and we always look forward to our going home meal there.

Liked this site but we only stayed one night on our way to Derbyshire. It was Clean & tidy with lots of hard-standing pitches all with hookup. Grass pitches did appear to be very wet but were being used. Toilets / showers were clean but there were several steps up leading to the block. We had a meal at the Tudor Pub at the entrance, the food was great for adults & children. Would return as there's lots to do in the area that we did'nt have time to do.

We booked a weekend stay in order to attend the Joust Festival at Berkley Castle. A Tesco store is located a couple of miles away at Cam for main shopping whilst a waterside cafe/mini shop for milk etc is on the canal towpath. The tent field is rather furrowed. Smaller tents will perch nicely on the crest of the wave, a modern family size tent such as ours will drop into the trough. The caravan/motorhome bays are nicely laid out, level and with hookups. To echo the other reviews, The toilets/showers although clean, having just two cubicles really need serious attention to ventilation. An additional toilet block would be an great improvement.
Ball games and cycling are allowed on the tent field rather than in a designated area which as we found out can cause problems with balls hitting cars and tents.
The Tudor Arms just outside the gate is a great pub serving top quality food and drink. You will need to Pre Book for weekend meals as it is very popular with canal users and campers alike.

Having just returned from a weekend at this site I feel I must disagree with quite a few of the reviews. We were plagued with very noisy neighbours on two sides, who didn't seem to be aware of the no noise after 10:30 rule. Also as previously mentioned the gravel track which ran behind our tent is very noisy when being driven or walked on - so that after been kept awake late we were woken up early, by people driving off the site! However my main concern about this site is about the shower block. Two showers for each sex is inadequate for a site this size and the ladies showers were so dirty I could not bring myself to use them over the weekend. My OH braved the showers in the gents, but his main concern was that with no shower mat in the actual shower tray, the showers were extremely slippy (he's a Health & Safety Rep) and he had to hold on to the shower rail for grim death and try to shower with just one hand. This site had people staying in the central square who were connected to EHU points around the edge of the site, so there were trailing EHU cables all over the place. At night especially even with a torch (very little lighting on the main field) these were very difficult to see and I nearly fell over twice. Then to round off not a very pleasant weeknd on the Sunday morning the main field was littered with beer bottles/cans and no sign of the warden anywhere!
