We originally booked 2 nights here to take our newly acquired tourer for it's first trip out. The site was easy to find, we took note of their website's advice to ignore sat nav for the final part of the journey. The site itself is very tidy and well maintained. We had a hardstanding with electric hook up, plenty of room to put up the awning but the strong winds rendered this a life threatening exercise so we gave up!. As mentioned by others the toilet block was a little tired but new facilities are well under way. We didn't try the local eateries this time as we wanted to give the tourer a thorough test run including cooker.
The canal narrow boats made great photo material and next time we visit we intend to hire a boat and go for a wee ride. We were enjoying our stay so much we booked an extra night and won't hesitate to go back again.

We had a lovely break at this site. The pitches are a good size and level. We were on grass with electric. The shower blocks are very tired looking now but can't complain as there are new ones on the way. The building is already up for these so can't be far off now. There seems to be a lot of investment going on in the area on & off site. We found the pub a little expensive & would use the black shed in future for meals. The full english brekky set you up for the day & at £5 we didn't feel it was too bad when we saw what we got.
The area is beautiful, didn't go into the wetlands centre but had a walk down that way. Maybe we will go next time. As we do intend to return. The shop was very basic but there is a tesco a few miles away in a town called cam.

First outing in our campervan, previous reviews seem to be accurate.
Site is ideally placed to visit Slimbridge, also next to canal so ideal for walking and cycling. Bikes can be hired form canal side just at entrance to site. Also canal boats were available for hire.
Pub situated at entrance to Site is excellent serving good food at reasonable prices, however you need to book to get in on a saturday night as it is very busy.
Site itself was clean and well kept with level spacious pitches. Toilet block is dated, but clean and warm and a new block looked to be well on its way to completion. Would recommend and will visit again.

We stayed here for two nights in February. Weather was mild and sunny. The site is lovely - very quiet and a great base for Slimbridge. The pitches are quite level and spacious. We didn't use the showers so can't comment but the facilities felt well heated. The new shower block is almost built.
The pub at the entrance is lovely and offered take-out beer and food - we didn't eat there but the menu looked really good, not the usual microwave basics. There are pool tables, darts and a skittles alley.
Our late afternoon walk along the towpath to Frampton-on-Severn was lovely - there's not much when you get there but it is a lovely village and we did find a pub for a quick drink.
Very short walk to Slimbridge which was a great day out. Our two girls (13 & 10) really enjoyed it.

Just returned from 3 nights at this caravan park.
THE NEW SHOWER BLOCK IS HALF BUILT !
The caravan park is set in a lovely place and the pub at the entrance to he site served some of the best pub food I have had and reasonably priced too. It also serves award winning ales.
The slimbridge wildfowl wetlands trust is a must to visit. Every night at 16.40 thousands of starlings took to the sky to perform some great shapes this performance lasted about 30 mins before they go to roost.
The weather was -5 and snowed but it did not spoil a thing, would love to visit in the summer.
The shower block is OK that's all I can say about that but I would think the new one will be up and running by May.
Would go back to this site again.
No shop on site but Tesco is only 3.5 miles away in cam.
Go straight over the island at the end of the road and straight over the motorway into cam town centre Tesco on the left.
Enjoy.

This a quiet site located behind the Tudor Arms along side the Glouceter - Sharpness canal. The site has a small reception staffed by a very helpful gentleman. The pitches on the main area were of a decent size to get into comfortably although for a field of that size another water point would have been useful. The site staff kept the grass very short and in really good condition allowing for the wet conditions. There are plenty of hard standing pitches available all with electric hook up. The toilet block is very dated and as such could not be described as immaculately clean and with only 2 showers per gender a queue was common at most times. There are plans for a new shower block but no one could say when this was likely to happen.
The pub served really good food in generous portions and offered a choice of 6 real ales plus local cider to wash it down with. There is no on site shop but the boat house adjacent to the canal provides emergency essentials and its neighbouring cafe excellent hearty breakfasts. Canal boats are available for hire form here. There are miles of walks along the tow path. Crossing the swing bridge its an easy walk of around 1/2 mile to the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust for a day out. Gloucester is only a short drive away and we found the park and ride excellent value.
Overall we found this a peaceful site and would certainly go again but would love to see the new shower block up when we arrive.

Called in for one night to break up my journey along the M5 and was my fifth visit here. As previous comments and as before found it clean and peaceful and the GBG listed pub at the entrance very useful with good food and real ales. Right by the canal towpath and Slimbridge WWT so good for walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers. Looks like planning permission granted for new toilet block as plans are pinned to the existing toilet block entrance.

The site = wow!
The facilities = wow!
The pub and food = wow!
The walks along the canal = wow!
Can you tell we enjoyed this site? Just off the M5 motorway and you're on the site - and it's nice and quiet, the sounds of passing boats making the most noise and traffic to and from the bird sanctuary.
We walked for miles alongside the canal and ended up in god-knows what villages, finding places to have a drink and then heading back to the site.
Site-wise - it's quiet and plenty of room for everyone - you don't see any staff on there fussing about - they just visit, clean, litter pick, etc, but you don't need much help do you?
Make sure you visit Gloucester - the city centre is great for shopping and the docks are good - we went on the weekend of the Tall Ships Festival - and it was a superb day out!

We visited this site on our second outing with our new caravan. It was fab, we stayed in the meadow, layout was good lots of room for getting twin axle in and water and waste water nearby.
The site is really close to wetlands and canal walks, we walked into Frampton and back along the canal, really lovely and peaceful.
As other posts have said the facilities are dated but clean and warm and to be honest we didn't really use them as we had our own in the caravan. Chap at reception was very helpful, we'll definitely be coming back.
PS website doesn't do the site justice.

We have just returned from our first camping trip away in our new tent . Hubby is an experienced camper and I have always been a bit of an armchair camper, in principle it sounds great, but in reality I like my home comforts. So we went along and arrived in heavy gusting winds. Trying to put up a new tent in that was an experience and a half. I ended up following the tent (somehow attached to it) down the field! We had some lovely people come to our aid however and the tent was eventually pitched. Then the rain started!
The site itself was lovely, the facilities block rather small, so the new planned block will be a welcome addition. The pub at the entrance to the site, was a little expensive and the staff could do with some laughing gas to make them smile .
The boat shed across the road was smashing and served lovely breakfasts and wonderful bread pudding.
We had an enjoyable three nights, and have arrived home, wet, bedraggled, muddy and happy .
We will return .
