Our party consisted of three tents housing 6 adults and 4 kids all under the age of 5. Upon our arrival the staff gave us a lovely warm welcome and showed us to our pitches. They had managed to put us all together in a tucked away corner of the site. Although this meant a bit of a walk to the toilet blocks it suited us perfectly as it remained quiet enough for us to get our kids to sleep and also meant that they could play during the day without disturbing anyone too much. The toilet blocks were well provisioned, clean and wonderfully warm. The showers were free and hot! Just what we needed when the weather turned horrible. The washing up facilities were good and there was also a fairly decent-looking games room. We didn't really use the latter tho' so can't comment on it properly; although it seemed to be fairly well used - the terrible weather we had might have been a big contributing factor to that tho'! The enormous amount of rainfall experienced the week before and during our stay meant that the ground was a little boggy at the bottom of the site where we were but the rest of the site seemed fine. The staff were extra helpful getting us in and out - especially as a few other campers got stuck and really churned the ground up trying to get out on their own. However, we didn't have too many problems.
The only problem I have is not with the site itself, but with the public transport to and from the site. We walked into Scarborough - not a bad walk actually and I am definitely the most unfit person on the planet! - BUT the trip back was not so great. After taking ages to find the correct bus we were dropped off miles from the site and had to hike back. There wasn't much information on where to catch the bus or the closest stop to return to. However, I did manage to waddle back slowly and really really enjoyed my cup of tea back in the tent when I finally got there!
I would happily return to this site and would also recommend it to others. Its great facilities and friendly staff made our stay wonderful despite the vagaries of the British weather. Next time I'll either drive into Scarborough or get fitter before I go!

Our 1st visit to this site and whilst we found it clean and tidy we have to agree that due to its size it is a little impersonal with 75% of our fellow 'campers' ignoring you if you offered a greeting. The Pub next door was closed for refurbishment so we cant comment on it. Whilst we were there there was a period of high speed winds, which found us having to dismantle our awning at 04:30 in the morning, unfortunately it turned out to be damaged beyond repair so we salvaged what we could and put the rest in the skips. We tried the on-site chippy one night and found it OK if a little pricey. We walked into North Bay once but after that drove to Peaseholme Park then used the Coast bus to travel into town. Not sure if we will use the site again though.

Ended up here after booking a week in Yorkshire and having to move on after one night due to a flood warning! Grass was sodden all week and we needed wellies to get to toilet block and back, but we didn't mind. The plastic hard standing stuff was great as the grass grows through and it can't be seen. More of this at other c&cc sites would be great.
Good things about the site:
1. The toilet blocks were super clean and modern and I really like the parent and child shower room which was excellent for me and my 2 young girls.
2. Little shop in campsite office sold milk bread OJ bacon sweets and you can order a paper.
3. Scalby manor pub just behind the site is not the kind of pub we normally eat at but during this wet week it was very welcome and the kids loved the little play area.
4. Close enough to walk into Scarborough - its 15 mins from the campsite to north bay - and each day we found a shorter route so worth asking at campsite. From north bay you can catch a seafront bus to south bay where all the amusements, chippies rock shops etc are, worth a look.
Things that could be improved:
1. Chippy on site seemed empty all the time - so we kept away. Shame, it could be a fantastic little cafe which would be great to have on site. Maybe serve food that the pub doesn't?
2. Site was a little large and impersonal
I really enjoyed my British seaside holiday and would return to this campsite, hoping for better weather next time though!

The family and I stayed for 2 nights. On arrival we were advised to check the pitch as they had been subject to extreme rain the previous week. Upon inspection the ground was sodden but the kids wanted to stay .
We pitched our tent and had the first brew and surveyed our surroundings. A quiet and very clean site was laid out in front of us. The toilets were superb and the staff were really friendly and kept the bad weather as a laughing point.
There is an on site Chip shop but to be honest we would not use it again . You learn by your mistakes I suppose.
The power points were a long way from our pitch and our lead was nowhere near long enough so the staff lent us an extension lead . Top do in my opinion.
We were pitched near a path that led to the pub next door. We found that to be a double edged sword . Driest pitch but possibly the noisiest as well. I cant complain as the pitch was not as bad as a lot of them considering the weather. But it is to bear in mind if the ground is dry.
We were also surprised that they do not freeze ice blocks (although it is listed as a facility in the CCC Big Book) They did do it for us but did stress it was not normal practice.
Would we return . Yes but we have learned that we need to take an electric cool box. The small things are far out weighed by the site and the staff.
We did have a message on our phone when we returned home with reference to the rain and the state of the pitches. A nice touch in my opinion.

This was our first time camping, 2 adults, 4 teenagers and our dog. The site is excellent, the facilities were very clean, showers lovely and hot / clean toilets and washing facilities. They never seemed busy even though it is the school holidays and there were lots of tents / caravans there. Good area for the dog.
I liked the fact that everything seemed to go quite after about 11.00pm and you didn't have to listen to other campers talking or music into the night. We tried the pub across the field, which does 2 meals for £9.00 until 6.30pm. We didn't get there till 8.00pm so had to pay full price, but ok for a Brewer's Fayre, although we had to eat ours outside as we had to take the dog with us. There is a small tesco extra a few minutes drive away but quite expensive.
Scarborough is a lovely area with good beaches, although found out that you can't walk into Scarborough in 15 minutes, more like 1 hour 15 minutes. You can probably reach the beach where the sealife centre is in this time. Note that dogs are not allowed on the beaches from May until September. Will definitely be coming back to this site again.

Spent a very wet and windy 2 nights at this site. We booked 3 pitches so that we could be together as a family and the owners were very accommodating. On the plus side, the site is well maintained, the toilets and showers are excellent and very clean. The small cafe, chip shop is very good and the short walk to the pub is ok. The site is quiet at night and the dog walk is very good.
On the negative side, our pitches were on quite a big slope. But we may have been allocated these so we could pitch 3 tents together. We were shown to our pitch by a very friendly and helpful warden who told me where and how to pitch our tent only to be followed up 1/2 an hour later by a very officious warden who told me to take my tent down and re-site it. After explaining that we had booked all three pitches and one of the tents was only a two person overnighter and there was adequate room for the other two tents, he stormed off in a huff. Pitches low side of us on the flat were waterlogged on Sunday morning and most campers were leaving.
The site is well placed for Scarborough and Whitby. A bit too big and impersonal for us as a couple but would return as a family group.

First time camping and I must say the staff at Scarborough made it so easy. Booked in originally Fri / Sat / Sun but with the weather so good we stayed until the following Friday.
Shower blocks were ultra clean and so was the rest of the site. Staff were really helpful advising us were to go, and if you go make sure you do the cliff walk that starts of just outside the camp and finishes at a sprog and dog friendly pub (their words not mine) near the sea life centre.
Local Spar just up the road as well as a pub that does food just outside the gates. Cafe on site makes a tasty breakfast and a games room on site for them cloudy days.
Hard to find a bad word for this site all in all 9 out of 10 on my list for another weekend next year.

Went here for three nights with my 3 boys 3,9 and 11 and they loved the place especially the table tennis in the games room. The staff were very helpful and friendly even lending us a rechargeable drill! The toilets / showers were very clean and the water very hot. I took 5 dogs and had no problems whatsoever. And my favourite thing was how very very quiet it was at night time. I will be back here very soon I feel

Just back from a great weekend here despite gale force winds all day Sunday and into the night.
Staff really friendly and helpful. The site is really impressive - toilets and showers immaculately clean at all times.
Small cafe on site which does full english breakfast as well as bacon sausage egg sandwiches. Also is a chip shop in the evening and has a wider menu including jacket potatoes, lasagne etc. Had a nice bacon sandwich and mug of tea but did not try other items.
There is a pub which we could get to through a gate in the site - good for watching the football and chatting to others staying at this site also served food until 9.30.
Will definetley be back. Cliff top walk to North Bay is really great and lots to do in Scarborough. Also great walking in the North Yorkshire moors so a perfect base for us.

Nice site, good clean facilities, friendly staff.
On site shop is basic but there is a Tesco express nearby open until 10pm. There is also a 24hr Tesco in Scarborough and a Sainsburys.
Walk through the gate at the rear of the site and your straight into a Brewers Fayre pub, the meals are as expected from this chain, and although the pub is close to the campsite I didn't notice any noise in an evening (even with footy on)
The site is only a few miles from the town centre and a bus stop is situated just outside the main gate.
The Stephen Joseph theatre in Scarborough is worth a visit, various plays on by Alan Ayckbourn (things that go bump) really enjoyed Haunting Julia.
All in all good location for getting out and about, Robin Hoods Bay (look for fossils) and Candys cafe at the top of the hill is well worth a visit just to try their local ice cream.
