Having paid for our 2 sons and families to join the club it was a disappointing first visit this Easter. Overbooked for facilities, and electricity failures with the high demand as weather was cold - we had battery in camper van but sons' tents soon cold.
Children's play facilities poor, with swings missing and indoor play area had unusable pool table and no bats and balls to borrow for the table tennis ( which have been on other sites ).
Advertised fish and chips on site not open for whole time. Long queues one day for some to get on site, staff coping with new layout of pitches. Hopefully lessons may have been learnt by management and some of the profit made used to improve things. However we will not return to know.
Please note staff kept toilet block clean and cleared rubbish which piled up at end of the day, the next morning I felt they were struggling with their work load.

Adequate to good facilities, but for a single backpacker, it's expensive. Convenient location for Cleveland Way. Toilets an showers were clean and plenty of hot water. I arrived late, so my friend paid and so I didn't meet any staff. I was woken by early morning barking dogs on the dog walk that goes past backpackers' field. Lots of warnings about recent crime spree of slashed awnings etc, but apparently no more incidents since an arrest in late August.

This is a large site divided up into different 'fields' so one person's experience may be very different to another's.
Our welcome was friendly. The facilities are good. The TV in the recreation room gathered quite a crowd for the Wales v Portugal football match! Some pitches are sloping and quite exposed but we asked to be tucked in under the trees. I can't comment on drainage as it didn't really rain over our stay. We liked the on-site chip shop.
There is plenty of walking and safe cycling straight from the site or you can explore the North York Moors if the traditional seaside town of Scarborough isn't your thing.

A very large, well kept site situated a couple of miles north of Scarborough, immaculate toilet & shower facilities and very friendly wardens, the site has it's own little fish & chip shop and there's a Crown Carvery pub next door (although I wouldn't recommend the pub as we had an awful meal - tough meat, dried up veg insufficient staff and crammed in seating) There is a lovely walk along the cliff top into Scarborough and a Tesco Metro about a mile up the road,

A lovely site with really friendly and helpful staff. Clean facilities and well maintained grounds. First time here and we are pleased to say we are already planning a return visit. Lovely cliff walk to the beach (take a windbreak) the nearby park was stunning as well.

Another great stay at this excellently located east coast site.
The shower blocks are always clean and the water pressure in the bottom block is fantastic.
It was a very wet Easter weekend and the ground became very water logged but the wardens worked tirelessly to move those who were a little stuck with either the tractor or by hand with shovels and a good push.
The chippie on site does good chips, a large portion was great side dish for a family of 4. The Easter drawing competition was a fab idea and kept the kids entertained for a while, all entries received a prize.
We are not C&CC Members so felt the fees a little on the high side without the discount, but it was bank holiday weekend so expected a little premium.

This large Camping & Caravan Club site is located 2 miles North of Scarborough. Very friendly Wardens, large pitches, numerous toilet blocks and even glamping tents (ideal for the extended none-camping family to join up with you whilst staying at this site). The toilet blocks are dated, but are very clean and have loads of hot water. One of the showers in the gents offered the most powerful blasting/shower I have ever experienced on a site (apparently the ladies showers did not provide such!).
The site is 10 minutes’ walk from the cliff top coastal walk Cleveland Way with traffic free access to Scarborough’s North Bay. ¾ Mile West from the site provides access to the traffic free cycle route 1 which uses the former Scarborough/Whitby railway line and takes you the 2 mile route into Scarborough town centre just by Sainsbury’s supermarket.
Lots of circular walks and bike rides direct from the site which is located next to bus routes. Scarborough itself offers the usual seaside attractions, plus its open air theatre and live bands and shows. Peasholme Park is worth a visit close to North Bay, and the hike to the Castle (which dominates the landscape) is worth a trip with magnificent views of North and South Bay. The church outside the Castle is home to the grave of Ann Bronte.
One thing to watch is the ‘hardstanding’ pitches – these are grass/plastic mesh and turned in a quagmire at the time of our visit due to the deluge of rain during the winter months. Grass pitches and heavy motorhomes are not a good combination!
Overall surprisingly enjoyable site and area with lots to do, visit and see, will definitely be back.

We often wonder just what the benefits of C&CC membership really are: Sites are frequently no better or even inferior to 'normal' ones, Insurance is dearer, the booking website and pricing policy are both poor, customer service from HO is non existent( a complaint raised in May is still being investigated!) and just what the Club does is a mystery. We had tried to book Keswick Site but found that all pitches were taken so ended up here.
This Site is a good illustration of what The Club can do on a good day: Excellent staff, good facilities and location, plenty of space. Now try and use these lessons more widely.

Overall a nice site.
We arrived and were given our choice of pitches, as there were three families in our party we were shown to areas where all three of us could be pitched together.
Quite a lot of the site is on a hill, so we chose the flattest pitches of the selection available as several of us were sleeping in tents and therefore unable to level.
The grounds are well kept and tidy.
The toilets are clean enough and satisfactory. Showers warm and enough pressure for a decent wash.
The on site parks are ok for the kids.
The on site chippy is very nice food and reasonably priced. Didn't think much to the pub next door to the camp site, but this is nothing to do with the site.
Site is next to a fairly busy road with a speed limit of 60mph so there is a fair bit of noise at all hours on a lot of the pitches. There is also no safe crossing point or secure gates out for the site onto the road so those with small children would need to bear this in mind.
The one grumble we had was the fact that cars/vans etc were able to drive anywhere on the site and would frequently drive through the middle of our 'space' between our tents in all directions (past each side left, right, front and back).
For safety, vehicles should only be allowed to move along the front of the pitches, not in between them as well!
We had 5 small children between us - old enough to run but too young to listen.
When I tried to limit their area of movement by putting a windbreaker between our tent and our friends caravan, I was told to take it down by the staff. When I explained that its only to stop the kids from running in that direction I was told by the staff member that it 'wasn't his problem'.
Obviously we always keep an eye on the kids, and it is our responsibility, but it only takes a second for one to run out of your tent/area and into the narrow 'road' between pitches and into the path of a car.
Its just common sense if you ask me that vehicle movements should be limited to specific areas on a family friendly campsite.

Excellent. Spotless facilities and really helpful staff who obviously care about what they are doing. Was given a tour of the site and several choices of pitch as well as invaluable knowledge of pros and cons of each. Can't wait to get back there. Although fairly busy I didn't have to wait for toilets or showers. The care and pride taken in this site shows as everything was immaculate. Although it was quite windy, the pitch I chose was sheltered and so packing down was easy. I'd been dreading the wrestling match with a 5x 4 meters kite. To sum up I can't recommend this place enough. The only reason I couldn't rate child friendliness is because I don't have any so didn't take any notice.
