We've just got back from our 2nd visit to this campsite and it just keeps getting better! The toilet / washing facilities were clean & always stocked with toilet paper, there was a new games room area & even a sauna! (we didn't get chance to check this out unfortunately)
As many have said before the views are stunning and there is plenty of space, even on busy weekends and it does get quite lively but generally after 12 it's quiet. The only slightly negative thing to add is that the individual shower block seemed to have a problem with the cold water when I showered in the morning - it was scorching as no cold was coming through.
Apart from that, great weekend - would def. Recommend it.

This site is set in a beautiful location and is definitely worth a visit. It is very well run and maintained with 3 camping fields (one huge) and a smaller area for caravans. It is better for tents / campervans than caravans as there is a lot of space to choose from for them whereas caravan space and electric points are more scarce. Some of the tent fields have challenging slopes but that also means there is more green space free.
It has a games room and good facilities with communal showers in both ladies and gents toilet blocks or separate ones near reception (which were always busier funnily enough). Staff very easy and worked hard to keep toilets clean on a busy hot weekend.
I found the main site very noisy with the huge tent field virtually filled and a lot of people were there to party with friends till about 2 am and no car curfew, so maybe avoid weekends if you want to enjoy the peace of the countryside. I imagine it's a different place in the week.
It's the best site we have found in the Peak District with various walks from the site and near to lots of other good spots. We'll be returning.

The phrase 'rapidly growing campsite' on the website seems to be code for 'we will allow as many people in as want to come'. The result being filthy toilets (at times) which do run out of toilet paper and people pitching their tents under your nose!
To be fair there is plenty of space but the facilities can only cope with a finite number of people and I feel the owners should restrict the numbers which would alleviate both problems.
There seems to be no rule or guidance as to the space that should be left between tents, or at least between different groups of tents. The result being that someone pitches barely a metre away from your tent..
Red Lion was excellent!
We will not return to this site

My first camping trip was a delight. Barn Farm is a wonderful camp site surrounded by some beautiful, and to die for scenery.
Upon entering the camp site you will see grazing Alpacas of various colours, looking a little like a cross between cartoon camels and Bambi.
The wildlife looked remarkably clean, almost as if they have been bathed especially for my visit, quite surreal. George the resident Peacock is a sight for sore eyes and he will delight you with his enchanting mating rituals. However, the little white Peahen has seen it all before and doesn't seem to give a fig for his dance moves.
The place was so great that we spent the majority of out time on the site itself, just exploring into the little village and a along a few footpaths, when the mood caught us.
All the Farms facilities were top notch. Water was hot, showers were clean, toilets were hygienically maintained and the staff were friendly and unobtrusive.
The couple running the camp stall and ensuring security, were lovely people. My friend and I spent time reminiscing with them about the 70's and 80's which was refreshing and fun. For a few minutes everyday I felt like a teenager again talking about the concerts we went to.
It was a lovely 4 days, well worth another visit before the summer ends.

Just had 2 nights camping at Barn Farm Camping Site. The weather was very good over this weekend which always makes the biggest difference. The site was very busy and there were plenty of groups of youngsters all camping in wagon-train style. Although it was quite noisy it all died away by midnight and there was no problems at all.
The toilet and washing block was very busy in the mornings but the showers were nice and hot with no queues.
There are 2 great pubs in the village and were 5 minutes walk from the camp site. Overall the site was very good and in a great location. Would go again and recommend to friends.

Stayed at Barn Farm first weekend in June. Weather was fantastic.
This is a lovely camp site, facilities very good, two sets of showers, and plenty of toilets - they are always kept clean, with plenty of loo roll!
We have stayed at this site several times, and would highly recommend it, the views and walks around the area, are lovely.
Only a 10 min drive to Matlock.
Plenty of space for kids to run around and explore.
After several years of camping, this is our favourite site, and are going back for a week in August.

We have just come back from Barn Farm, where we camped for two nights.
The weather was fantastic!
Booking was straight forward, called and spoke to Mark on friday lunchtime, we arrived mid afternoon, went to booking office who dealt very professionally with each new arrival. We were shown around the facilities and offered a pitch on any of the 3 fields.
All of the facilities are good, all very clean, never a queue really. Toilets were always well supplied with high quality loo roll!
Showers did run a little low on hot water on the Saturday morning, but in fairness it was after 9.00am when I took the shower, and as the weather was so good the site was very busy.
The local shop is great and sells more or less everything you need. The stall on the site was fun to visit with the kids. Visited The Red Lion on the friday, kids were made welcome, lots of room to sit outside.
Overall we had a great weekend, would recommend this site to anyone, the staff we met couldn't do enough to help you. Well worth a visit, lots to do in surrounding areas.

Last minute decision to go at the bank holiday weekend and we had so much trouble trying to find a site that had spaces. I was concerned when we phoned this campsite and was told to just turn up! Very glad we did! Great site in a lovely location. The Saturday night there was approx a thousand people on site and it was a real festival atmosphere. By Monday morning it was empty and the views were fabulous. Highly recommend this site.

A friendly and well run site which overlooks some beautiful countryside with easy access to nice leisurely walks. Located on the edge of Birchover the site has all the facilities you would require with modern washing and cleaning blocks. Also a few mins walk to a shop and to good pubs for those who don't want to cook or fancy a drink and children are welcome at the pubs.
We are looking forward to staying again soon

This was our first camping expedition and we were absolutely thrilled. The site was easy to find and set within a lovely village with 2 pubs, a village shop and on a bus route.
We received a warm welcome and a tour of the facilities and we were able to pitch up wherever we wanted. Usefully they told us they were expecting about a 100 children on the bottom field so we pitched up on one of the upper fields.
There was plenty of space and loads of bins etc for rubbish. The toilets / showers were very clean and soap and toilet roll was always available.
We loved our first camping so much we are off again this weekend and sure we will return to Barn Farm at some point in the future.
