Just returned from our second visit to Barn Farm the last one being August Bank Holiday last year. In our opinion it is a 'cram as many in as possible' site! One of the 'rules' of the site is 'no noise after 10.30pm' This was not adhered to by some disrespectful people who, on Friday night, were still partying into the small hours disturbing children and adults alike with their shouting and screaming. Credit due to the staff who, when told of the disturbance, sorted it out as best they could. Thankfully Saturday night was a lot quieter.
The site as a whole is lovely with good views and pleasant surroundings. The showers and toilets were clean. However they could do with a bit of TLC as the showers in the cubicles were not attached to the wall and you had to hold them above your head to rinse off soap ect.
The staff were friendly and accomodating and came round to us all on Saturday and Sunday morning to make sure we were all O.K. And to empty the bins.
Unfortunately we will not be returning to Barn Farm as both visits we feel have been marred with certain campers who are disrespectful to the comfort of others. We do not wish this to reflect badly on the staff as they were brilliant.

I thought Barn Farm was lovely, some spectacular views and lovely walks. The facilites were good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Checking in was easy and we were told to find a spot wherever we liked. Really relaxed approach to camping rather than fast hard rules associated with camping. Would defintley go again. A little gem tucked away.

Visited this site for the second time in june, met up with a group of friends there and the management are very accomodating, allocating us a field to ourselves, as there is usually 30 or so of us it's probably best. The field which we used is admittedly not the flattest. The site has good facilities, shower and toilet block is kept clean and tidy, with a small 'games room' with pool table and air hockey. The site also has two converted barn accomodations, which some of my friends have used in the past. The site has been extended for ths year with two new fields open to tents.
The best feature of this site for me is its location, close to the towns of matlock, matlock bath and bakewell it is an ideal base to visit debyshires sights, but for me the close proximity of stanton moor is a winner, a lovely place to spend time, visiting at the Nine Ladies stone circle is a joy!
All in all a fine place to spend some time, but beware the Peacocks, can give you a scare on the way to the loo in the dark!

Had a cracking weekend here at the late May bank holiday. Had planned to go thte Lakes, but lack of campsite space, meant we were looking elsewhere. Barn Farm told us to just turn up, and there'd be space.
We arrived on friday night, and paid up for 2 nights, as my girlfriend wasn't well, and we weren't sure how long we wanted to stay - no problem, and no minimum 3 night stay.
Showers were fine all weekend. I used the communal ones, but only on monday morning was there actually anyone else using them. The girls I was with used the private ones, and the communals, and they were fine, with no real queues despite the campsite being pretty full.
Only real gripe was that the hot water for washing up was virtually non existent.
Had a lovely walk around the surrounding area, really quiet, compared to how the lakes would have been during the same period.
Went and ate in the local pub ( Red Lion?) We tried to book, but the dining room was already booked up, but they said they would serve us in the bar area. We turned up bang on 6, ordered food, and it arrived within 20 minutes, and was all good. We stayed for the rest of the sunday evening, and later on, some locals came in for a folk music session, which really made the evening.
Would definitely go back here.

We stayed at this site over May Day bank holiday for three nights. It was a last minute thing and we had grown rather despondent as every other site in the area was full. We phoned Barn Farm and they told us to just turn up.
We arrived on Friday night and there was tons of room - there are three separate fields available for tents and although two are sloping there are plenty of level areas on the fields.
The booking in process is a little bit disorganised but the lads who work there are pleasant and keep the site nice and tidy.
To those who have complained about the communal showers, there are also single shower units next to the reception and also next to the sauna which were never full when I went in.
It's not the poshest more luxurious site in the world, but it is well placed and quiet (apart from the peacocks - take ear plugs - they are early risers)
There's no shop, but the shop in the village is well stocked and keeps decent hours. The pubs are both good - bog standard pub grub in the Red lion but decent beer and good food in the Druids, but you have to book well in advance or prepare to eat early

Stayed for a couple of nights at this lovely campsite.
Despite the wet weather, the pitch was fairly dry and facilities were more than adequate.
Decided to try the pub down the road and was pleasantly surprised that it had changed hands since last year and now offers a more varied menu (including Sardinian food), and the service hours are much more flexible. However, It was extremely busy over the weekend and the place is only very small, so booking a table is a good idea if you want to guarantee they can cater for you.
Overall a very enjoyable stay and we'll definitely be returning.

This is the 3rd time we've stayed at this campsite, we always camp here for at least 2 nights for the Elton Beer Festival. The toilets / showers are always clean. The washing up area comes in really handy. Plenty of space to camp and didn't charge us anything for putting up our gazebo like some campsites do. The staff are always very friendly, they come round everyday and empty the rubbish bins that are placed round the site and ask if we're all enjoying our stay. They even provide a freezer for the campers so we can keep our cool bag iceblocks froze. The chickens and peacocks that roam around are a nice sight to see, as well as the stunning views. We recommend the nearest pub which is the Red Lion, good service and nice ciders.

This is a lovely campsite, and we have been here a few times. very relaxed atmosphere, with reasonably good facilities. No pitches set out so you can camp where you like. In a lovely area, with lovely walks nearby. would recommend. There are also places to eat nearby (within walking distance) and it is a good base for exploring nearby towns and villages.

We visited overnight with 6 of us. 4 Children and 2 Adults and this came to £30 which was very reasonable as it didn't matter what size the tent was. The areas were very open and we found a place to pitch our tent with ease, this was the only place that wasn't fully booked and was advised that they have over 300 acres of fields so we had a lot to choose from. The amenities were good and clean. Staff was friendly and came around in the morning to make sure everything was ok and if we had slept alright. Even though there is no entertainment for children, with a huge open field, water buffalo, cows and peacocks they made theyre own entertainment. This was our first time camping and we would definitely go back again.
