Arrived to Barn Farm on the 3rd of may with a last minute booking. Was directed to field one so off we went. Sadly the field was very sloping and due to the rain, the flat areas were boggy. So we pitched on a slope and made the best of it!
First day and there was only us and 3 others. Second day, lots more tents arrived In our field. Sadly we encountered our first inconsiderate campers who were very noisy. Luckily one phone call to the staff and some-one came out and told them to keep quiet.
Rest of the stay was equally good, all toilets were immaculate and I never did see a toilet without a loo roll! Loved the peacocks although they called often and usually loudly! I thought it added to the charm!
Site is located in a thoroughly charming village and seems to be surrounded by footpaths. Site is a close drive to both bakewell and matlock.
All in all, would definitely return although must plan better for the slopes!

Were there after Easter and temperatures were down to 0!
Facilities very good & clean - roomy shower cubicles with sink in, hot and cold water. Couple of pot wash areas with 2 or more sinks. We didn't go into the games room or use laundry or shop (didn;t see it open)
What looked like a school party camped one night but they were v well behaved.
Lovely location. Only downside was noisy peacock -it did disturb the sleep.

The site is set in a lovely village with a couple of great pubs which serve good value meals and is only a short stroll away. It's a very well kept site, the toilet and showers were clean and tidy although very busy at times. The shop and games room were ok with use of site fridges if you need them and the children's play area was well set out, and nice size.
The site is definitely run as a business - and why not - and not the family oriented Barn/Farm image it advertises but that doesn't/shouldn't take anything away from a very nice site to camp at.
The size of the pitches were great and not limited by numbered or actual positions which is great for family groups pitching together (that might be a case of first come best pitched). We had to pitch on a the field which was a hill, quite steep in places, and only when that filled up did they open the flat field but again it's not a downside (pun intended) to a great site with plenty of room for the children to run about.
We hope to visit again over the coming years.

Stayed here for a couple of nights, toilets and showers are average. Pitched on slopey open field, seems to have a few camping barns here as well.
Good for walking, pretty quiet village, fairly close to a pub which was good, quite a few D of E's which wasn't so good, quite noisy!
I should imagine it is quite nice in the summer although I heard some of the locals saying it gets really busy and noisy.
We are planning on coming back to the area in a couple of weeks but might try around the Bakewell / Buxton area.

We returned only this afternoon from Barn Farm and had an excellent time.
We have recently purchased a campervan and are keen to use it as much as possible, before the end of season. We wanted a campsite relatively close to home for a 1 night stay, I was impressed with the existing reviews so booked a standard pitch the day before with ease.
On arrival we checked in easily, found a pitch and relaxed!
The weekend field is relatively flat and allows campers to pitch wherever they like.
I was informed on arrival that they had had paintballers in the field during the week so to be aware of the stray paintballs. This was near impossible as there were millions of them, which you had to constantly dodge not always with success. This became a little annoying but assume this is a one off so don't be put off and the first half of the field was completely clear!
We walked the 10 minute stroll into Birchover village come evening and ate at The Druids Inn. This is a contemporary restaurant and pub and we were impressed with the standard of food, but be aware that it is more pricey than a standard bar menu, as you would expect.
As the name suggests, this is a farm site and they have cows, peacocks and alpacas, so I recommend ear plugs to avoid an early wake up call!
The peacocks and alpaca's are lovely and a nice addition to the site.
The showers were excellent, they were free flow, had temperature control and there were plenty of hooks to hang your clothes. The toilet facilities were also good.
There appeared to be plenty of walking paths from the campsite into the Derbyshire Dales and lots of campers appeared to be there for the walking. We however did not attempt it this time!
A lovely site, with beautiful surroundings and great facilities! I would highly recommend to others!

This park had a lot of good reviews so we decided to give it a go. The toilets were dirty and no cleaning was done over the weekend. We arrived on a friday night it was quiet so we thought great, till 9 30 in the evening when a group arrived and started playing very loud music. By 10 30 I rang reception to ask them how much longer the music was on for they said 10 30, but it was 11pm , then a load of young people kept making noise till 12 30. Next day on the Saturday some hikers in pup tents were playing a radio very loud at 7am in the morning then around 9pm. They had paint ball in the field next to us the noise was loud and annoying. I went to reception to complain, they said it was once a year and I would have been told when I booked. After about ten minutes they offered me a refund.

Fabulous views; good clean toilets, lots of space for pitching (and without any over restrictive rules and regulations), all in all a real hidden treasure!
There's actually nothing negative I can say about this site (not that I want to!), the location's great just on the outskirts of Matlock, the management helpful, the views stunning.
I almost want to keep this one to ourselves in case it becomes TOO popular. Well worthy of the awards it's received.
We're heading back again this year during the Matlock Venetian Nights festival, I can't wait to open my campervan curtains and look out over those rolling fields.

We camped Friday and Saturday night in August. We used the big 'weekend' field'. It was packed, pitching by some campers was somewhat inconsiderate camping far too close to their neighbour. Luckily this didn't apply to us.
The showers and toilets were clean. Although each morning there was a queue to shower in the individual showers - I would describe these as more like an en suite. Lots of space and decent size shower cubicles with plentiful hot water.
I think they could also do with an extra row of sinks as when I went to use the loo in the evening and morning there were no free sinks for handwashing as all were in use washing/teeth etc.
There were freezers to freeze cool blocks and a communal fridge. I think this could do with defrosting and cleaning a little more often. I wasn't tempted to put any of my food in the fridge.
The site has security guards patrolling at night. Although noisier than their stay in May the site was quiet by 11 in the evening.
A games room looked useful as a hangout for the younger teenagers.
The site is well placed to visit Matlock and Bakewell, I would return. Although I'd stick to weekends as the pitches for camping during the week were on an incline.
I also think pitch prices are a little high. £22. 50 without elec for 2 adults and 2 children.

Great site ! Nice and quiet, lovely facilities and stunning location. Our hosts were so so lovely and toured the site each night in an unobtrusive way. The site is close to a lovely canal side walk and woodland. Perfect for exercising the dog and the children. There is a newly built shop that stocks lots of luxury items as well as the the essentials you forgot and gets daily newspapers. The old barn houses a table tennis table for rainy days/evenings and the play area is basic but a Godsend. Even at short notice on a bank holiday weekend I have secured a place here and it attracts a nice type of camper too!

Took my 10 year old grandson for his first camping experience. This place was ideal for kids and adults alike.
It is spacious and well maintained and its close proximity to Birchover - a beautiful village - is a plus with 2 excellent pubs/restaurants.
The walks in the area are superb (Derbyshire is the finest county in England for walking). Pity about the quarrying taking place nearby, but this barely detracts from the overall beauty of the area.
Small shop on site and catering vehicle provides breakfast. Did not use it personally, but it seemed popular enough.
Grandson now hopefully into camping.
