This is a lovely site probably best suited to couples wanting a quiet break. The only noises to be heard is the odd moos from the cattle and the birdsong!
Approach to the site is up a hill on a narrow lane that is a little bumpy, but not a problem if taking it steady (and well worth getting there!), the long driveway into the farm itself is smooth and well maintained.
It is a working farm, and reception is not always manned,so our name was on a board on arrival with the pitch number (along with owners phone no. If help needed)the owners were never far away to make sure your stay is enjoyable. A nice touch is the wood levelling blocks that each pitch has for use (most pitches need them)
The high location gives you the most stunning views over Notts, and the best TV signal we have ever had in our caravan! - slight downside - low water pressure. This did not bother us as water was hot and toilets and showers spotless.
There are miles of footpaths and Byways to walk from the site, it would be worth taking an O/S map if you enjoy walking - the hike back up hill via the dog walk is not for the faint hearted!
The nearest pub is only a couple of miles away, by footpath, but not a easy stroll back!
We will be returning to this site again.

We have stayed here many times, it is a lovely quiet well kept campsite with beautiful views set in rolling farm fields. The owners are ever so friendly and can't do enough to help you.
You are allocated a pitch which is written alongside your name on the board at the entrance, this is in case David and Gill aren't there to meet you (this is a working farm). However they always do their best.
most of the pitches are sloped but are not to difficult to pitch on, if you do have any problems though David is more than happy to help you.
the toilet and shower block is immaculate and extremely well cleaned.
the site is very dog friendly with plenty of walks round about, although a reasonable level of fitness is required to cope with the hills.
There is a pub called the Reindeer within walking distance. It sells good beer and food and it has an excellent carvery on every day, and dogs are welcome inside.
There is delicious ice cream on sale at the site. You help your self and pay for it using the honesty box.
This is a lovely site run by a friendly hard working couple. We shall certainly continue to return when ever we can.

This is a wonderful site. We went last year when visiting the Ceramics Festival at Rufford, and returned this year for the same. It is also near to Clumber Park, Thoresby Hall and lots of other great walks and places to visit.
The site is peaceful and clean, and has beautiful views. It's great for people and dogs (but doesn't allow children). Some pitches are not level, but the owner provides blocks and wedges, and is happy to help novice campers to sort themselves out!
The showers and toilets are immaculate: clearly the owners understand that if they take care of their facilities and leave cloths, mops and cleaning products handy, then the visitors are likely to clean up after themselves too. You could eat your picnic off the floor!
We'll be going there again.

This is a wonderfully peaceful site in glorious surroundings, all you could hear were cuckoos sounding all day long as well as many other bird voices including owls and barking foxes at night. The site owners are very friendly and helpful loved it.
The toilet and shower block were spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water all free, there is also a facility for washing up, the campsite itself is very well maintained. It is a working farm
There are shops in the nearby villages and the site is not far from sherwood forest.

We booked over the phone for the May Day holiday for three nights, and then sent a cheque for a deposit and was sent confirmation of our booking by way of a receipt.
Arrived early evening on the Friday after it had poured down with rain, but the drainage was so good on site that you couldn't tell.
We received a warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our pitch with EHU, which was plenty big enough for our large tent and gave us some nice shelter and privacy, but without being too closed in.
The welcome pack that was provided detailed the local footpaths and the local area.
The toilet block was always clean with plenty of hot water, and although the water pressure wasn't particularly high, it didn't retract from the excellent facilities. My only suggestion would be to have a full length mirror in the ladies.
I understand from my partner, that the gents was to the same high standard.
The views are so lovely from many parts of the site, but the best bit for us was the absolute peace and quiet. The only sound in the evening was the birdsong :-)
We were enjoying our breakfast on our first morning, when we were visited by two shy female pheasants, and a cheeky Robin.
Would be go back? Most definitely!
We really enjoyed our long weekend. This is the best site we have been on, since we have been camping for over a year and a half.

New Hall Farm is a lovely site with helpful owners and excellent facilities. Visiting for a long weekend in April we were greeted by a very helpful gentleman who told us where to pitch and offered his assistance if we needed anything.
The pitch was flat, clean, overlooking a vast field where we saw many pheasants casually picking over the soil without a care in the world. There were few tent spaces, most of the site being for tourers and caravans and only 5 tents were on site when we visited. The abundance of caravans meant that the excellent toilet and shower facilities were used by only a few which resulted in no queues.
With an abundance of information available on places to go in the reception area it wasn't difficult to fund things for us to do. The comments in their visitors book were all brilliant so I think many many people have had a good visit here.
Located near to Newark-on-Trent, a farm shop at the end of the road, and several pubs nearby we found the position of the site excellent, and its views over the Nottinghamshire Countryside were absolutely fantastic, especially at sun set. We visited Newark-on-Trent whilst we were there and would thoroughly recommend it as a town. I want to go back to look at the castle as we did not have time.
This was our first visit to an adult only site and we were very pleased with the peace and quiet and I would certainly look to visit again in the future.

Booked in for a weekend at this fantastic site, enjoyed it so much we stayed for a further two days. Jill and David were wonderful hosts and made us very welcome.
It is so peaceful and the views are amazing. I can't agree with the negative comments about the shower pressure - they are immaculate and there was plenty of hot water. Would we return? Definitely - we have already booked two more weekends. Brilliant!

Just returned from 7 nights at New Hall Farm and can honestly say we really enjoyed our stay. The approach road up to the farm is ok if you take your time. Upon arrival we were welcomed by Chris who booked us in helped us choose a pitch and was a mine of useful information. There is also a ton of information in the reception area. The facilities are excellent although the shower pressure because of the situation of the farm is not the best but we knew this before we booked. We found the whole family a pleasure to talk to and they were more than willing to answer any questions. The only tiny criticism is that some of the pitches appear a little small particularly if you had a larger type unit with a large awning but the family are so helpful I am confident they would sort it out. We used the local bus service to go into Newark and Southwell. There are a number of walks you can do from the site. 16 amp hookup good mobile phone reception and also good tv reception. Would we return? definitely

We have just returned from a weekend at this campsite. This was our first visit to this particular site.
Although the site owners were not around to meet us on arrival, the system for allocation was simple (a board directing us to our pitch) and a reception 'cabin' with loads of information about the site and the surrounding area. The access road to the site is in keeping with the word farm, but the small inconvenience of the rough road was amply compensated for by the seclusion, quiet, safety and security of the site (and the superb views).
The actual site is situated on sloping ground. I would advise any new caravanner to get a little experience of manoevering before coming to this site. However, we have caravanned three previouss times, so it doesn't take long to get the knack. As we had dogs with us we were allocated a pitch at the top edge of the site (as did the other dog owners). This was great as they were out of the way of other users and near to rough woodland and the various walks around (which are brilliant for dogs - quiet and safe).
We enjoyed the beef sandwiches and the 'honesty box' ice cream (a great idea) as mentioned by other reviewers.
WCs, showers and washing up facilities all spotless and adequate; the shower pressure was poor (due to reservoir being below the site) but we were made aware of that, so no nasty surprise.
Pubs and shops/post office available within a short drive; also farm shop down the hill (which was closed on Sunday morning when we tried to call). Also Southwell well worth a visit.
Just some general advice from our experience: if the site charge is around £15 per night for one caravan and a couple, the facilities will be spot on, but quiet and low-key (which is what we were looking for). £10 a night might be too basic, unless you have your own facilities.

Visited this site over the August Bank Holiday and it was great, loads of room very friendly, shower block was very clean at all times with free showers. Super views all round, the site is adult only which was a nice change and very rest full. The owners go out of their way to make you most welcome and on arrival you are shown to your pitch and we had a few choices. The staff was always on hand for questions or help.
The village close by has a couple of small supermarkets, there is a local pub which you can walk to but on this visit we did not use. Overall very nice and friendly site, will use again when in the area.
