Stayed here for the weekend and had a great time. The toilet/shower block is immaculate and the site is very well kept.
The pitches are easily large enough for any sized tent and you are not on top of those pitched next to you. The Owner couldn't have been more helpful and was always around when you needed him.
The fishing pond on site was also well maintained and there were plenty of fish being pulled out during the stay.
All in all one of the best sites we have stayed at and will definitely be staying again.

Stayed three nights over Whitsun at this brand-new camp site with friends, all in tents.
The site is sited well for visiting York with Park & Ride facilities close by, or taxis for about a tenner a journey for the terminally lazy. It is close to main roads but we were never troubled by undue noise.
There are two main camping areas, one field for EHU with marked pitches and a second, smaller area for the electric-free. Next to these is a man-made fishing lake. The site is already quite nice and the lake attractive, but this will all become much more picturesque as newly-planted trees and shrubs develop.
All the pitches are large, grassy and flat. The main EHU field has around 20 pitches; these are all around the perimeter, giving, along with generous widths, a real sense of spaciousness. The website recommends rock pegs for tent dwellers, advice I found to be sound although I have encountered much rockier sites. The stones are not on the surface however, and contribute to the excellent drainage (the site was never remotely muddy despite some pretty persistent rainfall).
Amenities are mostly in a centrally-sited single building housing lavatories, showers, and washing-up sinks, which is close to all pitches. These were continually cleaned and always pristine while we were there.
The male area housed two lavatories, a urinal trough and two very generously-sized showers; I understand the ladies' gains extra cubicles. There is also a disabled facility adjacent. The dishwashing area is outside at the rear of the building and is basic; extra draining space and better pretection from the elements would have been welcome.
Away from this but still centrally located is a dedicated Elsan (misspelled on notices) point for caravanners.
At the moment there is no reception building, but I understand from the owners that they are planning to build something soon. This creates an initial puzzlement on first arrival, but we were soon spotted and taken care of by the owners who are continually around though never intrusive.
The owners are very pleasant and helpful, with advice and assistance where necessary.
The site has no play area or equipment for children and there is that pond, though kids who like to be active and make their own amusement have plenty of room. Parents would need to make a judgement.
In short this site is small, quiet, spacious with good clean toilets/showers but few other amenities. As far as I'm concerned: Perfect!

This site is lovely. Quite a small site but it has noce walks around the lake and the owners are very nice.
The site layout is good with lots of space between pitches, so it doesn't feel cramped.
The toilets are very nice and the shower is more like that of a hotel than a campsite. Very nice.
The only detraction for is is placement. To walk anywhere from the site you must walk along a country road for a short time, which is fine, but people seem to use this road as a cut through from the ring road and travel at excessive speed. So be careful whilst walking along it.
That aside a lovely stay, and we will stay again!

Just returned from a very pleasant 3 nights at wagtail Park, owner Peter most friendly and helpful. Nothing to much trouble. The site itself is very clean and modern as reflected in the toilet block, excellent huge showers. Level site and not crowded, nice fishing lake which I will use on my next visit. Good dog walk on site screened from the site itself, Monks Cross is just a few minutes drive away with its great shopping facilities, and of course nearby York easy accessible with the park and ride scheme. Malton and Pickering are worth a visit again short drive away, would certainly recommend anyone to visit this small and friendly site.

Excellent brand new caravan park, great facilities a small but friendly site only 22 pitches up to now. Electric hook ups, clean water taps, showers and toilets very clean, washing up facilities and chemical toilet disposal. Ideal base for shopping in York with the monks cross shopping complex only a mile away and Clifton moor complex a mile and a half. Great fishing lake, well kept and very comfortable pegs, with lots of fish. And you wont find a friendlier couple than the owners. Well worth a visit I know we will be back again

Having just spent 4 days on this site we can highly recommend it.
The toilet/ shower block is new and the shower cubicle of a good size with a dividing screen so your clothes and towel stay dry and a chair provided.
The fishing is also very good, the pond having a good stock of bream, small carp,(and a few 10 pounders ) plus roach, rudd, tench and even barbel but these will need a few years to grow.
There is a little traffic noise from the A64 but not enough to be intrusive. It's also handy for monk's cross shopping area, where you can get the park and ride into york.
The owners cannot do enough to help in any way, even to the point of picking up my wife from the shopping precinct as I was catching.
We will definitely be back.

We stayed at the site 29th April until 3rd May, 2011. We agree entirely with all the positive comments written below.
The site was 'handy' for visiting York town centre - we found using the park and ride quite useful as it was a quick 'run into town' and didn't have to worry about finding a parking space.
Also as everything in the town is so close we weren't in need of the car which makes the park and ride worth while.
The site owners (again as written below) were VERY kind and helpful, we had a problem with our van on leaving and he spent ages helping us even though it should have been his first day off for days.
We on our next visit to York will be using the site again.

This was our first experience with our new motorhome and we were impressed. Shower facilities are superb with a modern finish to the decor and heated.
Situated approx 4 miles from the centre of York itself was great and only a couple of miles from one of York's retail Park. The area itself is very clean and tidy, with a lake for fishing (gets busy on a Sunday morning so don't be surprised to see lots of men sat fishing when you head to he shower block).
The owner was friendly and approachable. Would definitely visit again.
Local walks from the site. Dogs allowed added bonus for us and very reasonably priced
If your looking for a quiet place to relax then you wont be disappointed. If you are wanting pubs, restaurants then you will have to head into York. There is a local chippy along the A64 only a couple of miles up the road.

Really well thought-out layout, with perimeter pitching so that the whole feel of the place is very spacious.
Excellent shower/toilet block which was kept immaculately clean throughout a Bank Holiday weekend, when the site was full. Huge shower cubicles, perfect for people with small children.
Great dog walk, which is shielded from the caravans by a bank, so that it isn't overlooked. Plenty of dog bins too (which are a decent distance away from the pitches).
A small amount of road noise from the nearby road, but nowhere near enough to put us off staying again, especially when the park is so conveniently located for York.
Friendly and incredibly helpful owners, nothing too much trouble.
Would we recommend it? Most definitely, and we will certainly return.

I believe we were the first to visit this site and have stayed for a few weeks. The site is situated in lovely peaceful surrounds overlooking a lake which provides an ideal backdrop for a relaxing holiday. The amenities are all brand new, very clean and the showers are great. The site is only a few minutes from the park and ride providing easy access to city of York, and is also close to main roads heading to the coast. There are also a couple of large supermarkets within a few minutes drive with camper-friendly parking. Dogs seem to be very welcome and apparently enjoy themselves immensely! The owners have always lived locally, are EXTREMELY kind and helpful and have a great knowledge of the local area. All in all our stay was a wonderful experience and we will no doubt be back.
***Highly recommended!
