What a great little site. We have been there now a number of times, fishing during the day and relaxing on a evening with a cold glass. Peter who owns the site has put a lot of hard work into making it just right. The toilet and shower block is spotless, warm and welcoming. The site is clean, pitches are spaced out well. Close to local shopping and food as well as and easy run into York either by car or park and ride.
Highly recommended.

We visited this site for the first time, we spent the week here. The site is very well maintained, spotlessly clean and the shower block are cleaned regularly and are the best I have ever seen on a campsite. The campsite is a very peaceful retreat but is close enough to lots of attractions and some great pubs. The site has a lovely well stocked fishing pond and the pitches are very spacious. Peter is very helpful and nothing is too much trouble for him. Thank you for a lovely relaxed break, we will be returning very soon. Karen and Darren x

Spent bank holiday weekend again. Great relaxing location. Campsite is very clean and well looked after. Friendly and helpful owner. Did a spot of fishing on the well stocked lake. 10 minutes from Haxby where there are some great pubs. And only 15 minutes from York. Can't wait to go back again and again

Just returned from our first visit and we will be going back again soon. On arrival we were met by a lovely lady who showed us straight to our pitch and pointed out the site facilities. Peace and quiet through the three evenings we stayed there. The toilets/showers were imaculate throughout. Our first true attempt at finished was dismal (my own doing) but once Peter (the owner) showed up and offered up some great tips and even some of his own equipment to loan. My daughter and I were catching no problem at all. Site is located well, with plenty of attractions and shops just a short drive. No site pub which to be honest I found a refreshing change. In conclusion, a pretty young site that will thrive well. Thanks again Peter for all your help and we will see you again soon.

Visited, this site over the easter weekend, when we arrived we were met and shown to our 2 tent pitches, the owner then gave us a run down of the site and pointed out all the facilities available to us, the site is very clean and spacious, and the toilets & showers are spotless, for the fishermen out there the lake on site is very well stocked with plenty of pegs, whilst there I caught a couple of big carp which added to a very enjoyable weekend break, will definitely be back.

Had a really enjoyable stay. Spent 4 nights and had the whole sight to ourselves. Lovely tranquil setting with a good fishing pond. The weather was appalling (70mph winds) but the hospitality made up for it. A well thought out site with all a campers needs catered for. Convenient park and ride made exploring York a treat. Thanks for a lovely stay Peter. You will definitely see us again. 😀

Just returned from wagtail what a gem of a site Peter and Brian are two of the friendliest and helpful people you wish to meet the site is immaculate with a lovely shower and toilet block dish washing facilities are covered in which is ideal for the cold weather we had on our stay which made no difference as the view of the fishing lake made up for that don't forget to give the friendly little robin a crumb or two will definitely be returning in the future

We went here for a short 2 day break for the New Year Celebrations, traveling from the lake District. On arrival we were met by a charming gentleman Peter who explained about the sites facilities we were placed on a spacious, well maintained for winter, grassy pitch which proved to be so peaceful and a 1 minute walk to the very well maintained shower block including a Disabled toilet and shower. The shower block was very new and clean and warm with its under floor heating and had plenty of lovely hot water. The sinks for washing up and rubbish bins were within this block. There is a very well maintained fishing pond with jetties for pegs for all you fisher women and fisherman, unsure what it stocks tho, but would be finding out for my next visit. The nearest town Huntington which we went down to, a short ride away in a taxi, but is in walking distance with care down a short road offers a selection of shops, eateries and pubs which is a credit to the campsite because of the distance and most people do like a town nearby. The Blacksmith arms is worth a visit for lovely service and food. York city centre is around 4 miles away either taxi or park and ride which is 1. 5miles away. There are large retail parks around 2 miles away for your supermarkets. Will be definitely be going back to wagtail park in the near future for longer next time and with my fishing rod. THANKYOU

This is a very nice site which is quite new and still a work in progress. There is a lovely big lake which the fishermen out there would enjoy. The facilities were very clean and tidy. There were three toilet's, three washbasins and two beautiful showers. On arriving, later than we had hoped, we were met by Peter's father who showed us to our pitch and explained where the facilities were. He was very helpful and polite. The pitch itself was on grass with gravel underneath, which became a bit mucky with the rain we had overnight. We had a bit of wheel-spin when trying to reverse off the pitch to go out for the day. There are some hard-standing pitches in progress but were not ready to be used. Peter himself is a very nice man who came and had a chat with us on our first morning there. The site is alongside a road that is quite busy and cars are up and down through the night which was the only downfall for me. There is a park and ride at Monks Cross that takes you into York and surprise. Surprise, they cater for motorhomes. Take note all you other borough councils. There is a retail park at Monks Cross with a good selection of shops, and there is loads to do in the area. We had a very enjoyable long weekend and I would definitely stay at this site again.

We went here for our first camping trip a chance to try the tent and how we would manage, on speaking to the owner on the phone to book we found him to be very friendly and helpful and he explained for us just to arrive after we said we would come. The site was easily found and also very clean and tidy we were greeted by Peter who showed us to were we could pitch our tent explained the toilet and shower block, these were very clean and spotless there were washing up facilities with washing up liquid provided (good thing as we had forgot) there is no on site club house but you are allowed to go to the local working mans club as guest members we did'nt get a chance to try this. We had a good couple off days for our first camping trip it was restful and the weather was'nt to bad
