Visited Roundhill for the first time, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves from the moment we set foot on the site. The managers of the site couldn't have been more helpful, Dave and Irene.
The facilities were spot on, very clean toilets and shower block and concidering it was very muddy, this must have been quite a challenge.
The village of Brokenhurst was close by and had everything we needed.
We have already booked again to return to Roundhill, the children loved it there, and all the staff we hope they don't change.
See you soon Roundhill will be back in June.

We arived on the wednesday before the bank holiday weekend, it was sunny and quiet and we got a great pitch. Lovely place, never been before, very open and flat. I was a bit put off when a warden asked me to stop flying my kite as it was in the rules [which it was not]there was no body within 200 meters of me! But it was a really nice place, it got really full at the weekend but there was no undue noise after dark. The new showers were clean every time I went in. We got rained on and had to cut our holiday short as 6 inches of water got under our tent, but in all this is a great site and I will go back.

Just back from what could be best described as a mixed weekend.
This was different to any site I had been to - absolutely enormous, and no specific pitch areas - you just had to pick a free spot that was at least 20 feet from your neighbour (although some groups obviously interpreted this rule fairly loosely).
One rule that is strictly enforced is the no wood burning rule - a couple of sticks on our kettle BBQ brought the rangers hotfoot to our pitch and we were suitably chastised.
It really was a back to nature kind of place, but one that even my wife (one for creature comforts) was happy to stay at. They have new shower blocks which worked well and were clean, and it was really novel having ponies grazing by your front vestibule in the morning!
We managed to cycle almost completely off-road to and from a nice pub in Bank, and there were loads of other places to cycle to.
Now, to the mixed bit. First two nights - absolutely fine - lovely weather, glasses of wine round the barbie etc. Third night, it started raining at about 11pm, and just kept on, and on, and on. We were woken at 6am by our 5 year old telling us that there was a river in the tent, and sure enough, we were now pitched in a 4 inch deep lake, as were most of the other people on the site. All part of the experience I guess, but try and pick your pitch carefully.
That said, I would certainly go again. The only thing I would like would be a shop that sold Milk and bread, but maybe even that would be against the whole ethos of the place.

I visited this site very early in the season and it is so big I didn't need to be near anyone at all. Big change from last year, they now have showers, but I suspect still not enough for the high season numbers. Managers are very friendly and helpful. There are walks available straight into the New Forest from the back of the campsite and Lymington is a very short drive away if you want the sea. Brockenhurst is a 5min drive away for food shopping. The best bit has to be waking up and watching those ponies come out the mist and trot past your tent.

We've just stayed here for the weekend and it was great.
We would definitely go back as we loved the fact that this site is more back to nature. However, because it's back to nature it would probably be just for 2-3 days as there aren't any showers.
It's lovely to be able to sit outside cooking your breakfast with the ponies wandering around.
When we first arrived, 4 cows passed our tent. That's not a sight you see every day!
As we have a dog, this site was the ideal place for a doggy holiday as there are lots of walks to be had.

We went to the Roundhill site last week in the middle of August. Even though the rest of the New Forest was swarming with tourists this site has loads of space for everyone, and remains very spacious. It's really good for a base for cycling, and you can get to most parts of the New Forest using the cycle tracks and the B roads. As for the famous washing cubicles, they are fine and were clean each time we used them. The staff are really helpful too.

This was the 5th year running we have stayed here. Weather was fairly damp and dismal but didn't really spoil it too much. The site was fully booked but you would never have guessed it - this heathland site is huge and you always have masses of space. We went with friends and the children loved riding their bikes around and playing games on the large grassy area between our tents. Yes the facilities here are very basic but there is always plenty of boiling water and the toilets are cleaned every day. The floors did get really wet and muddy but I think they would at any campsite when the weather's bad. There is lots to do in the area. We spent a fantastic day at Moors Valley Country Park which is about 30 mins away by car (just NW of Ringwood) and also went to Lymington and Mudeford. I love it here - its a real back to nature campsite - and we will definitely be returning.

Great location for walks and off-road bike trails, plenty of space for children to cycle safely and explore woods, no intrusion from traffic noise. Great to see ponies wandering around. This was our third visit, but first time in high season. Bit noisy in central areas, but still lots of pitch space available even though site was full. Check-in time was surprisingly slow, not sure why it took so long to note details and pay. As noted by many others, big price hike with no improvements - I don't want hook-ups but basic hygiene is another matter. Washrooms not cleaned frequently enough, lack of showers means that wash cubicles get very wet with over-sink washing, and design of plug (and blockages) leads to sinks left full of (other peoples) dirty water. Several out-of-order toilet cubicles. Overall a good weekend, but not good value for money.

Just back from our first trip to this site and loved it. We were woken up to the sound of the ponies cantering past the tent. As previously mentioned in the reviews you can choose where to pitch and as we arrived on Friday night it wasn't all that busy and we were spoilt for choice (drove my partner crazy trying to decide on which one was just right). The site is situated right off the road so there is no traffic noise (some off the other sites that we saw are just off the A337 from Lyndhurst to Lymington) and there are plenty of walks into the forest. Its ideally situated for exploring the New Forest and there are lots of lovely little villages to visit. I must confess I wasn't looking forward to the facilities (i am a bit of a clean freak!) however they were more than adequate for the weekend. With plenty of toilets and wash cubicles. Definitely going back again.

The site was very roomy, you were able to choose your own location so if you wanted to be close to friends you could or secluded on your own. The toilet blocks were clean and tidy no showers but sinks in wash area. Staff very helpful only thing we did not expect was the horse's entering tents and rummaging for food we will be prepared for next time! Local shops, pubs near by were around 2 min drive 15 min cycle or 25 min walk. Very nice for a relaxing stay apart from horse's.
