June 2005 An excellent site, very peaceful with the added bonus of ponies wandering free amoungst the campers.
This site tends to fill up quickly at weekends and there can be long queues to check in at busy times. The staff can be a bit jobs-worthy at these times. A friend arriving on his motorcycle to join us was not allowed in without queuing even though we had already paid his fees.
There is no electric hookup but for a weekend thats no problem, it saves the argument about bringing the TV.
The lack of marked pitches is great, you can just drive around until you find just the right spot. There is tons of space even when the site is full.
The toilet blocks were clean if basic with no showers so an extended stay might be more of a problem. There is a strtictly limited time that generators can be run which prevents the peace being broken.
Before this visit I have used this site at least 6 or 7 times and would thoroughly recommend it.

August 2005 This site is fantastic, in fact it was so great we went back the next weekend!
Toliets were clean and we didn't mind the fact that there were no showers as we were only there three days.
With no allocted pitches you can find a nice little bit of the forest for yourself.
It was good to see dog free zones which we used both times. Didn't have to worry about the toddlers in these areas at all, only the ponies.
One pony decided to demolish our wind breaks to get to my daughters playing blocks which must have look like sweets!
Lots of small tracks and concrete paths to go bike riding on which was great too.
Great site will be going back for sure.

August 2005 We have just returned from 3 days camping at Roundhill and we had a great time. This was our first experience of camping so we did not know what to expect. Having the animals roaming freely around you was great, the toilet facilities were very clean, despite the camp being full, it did not feel overcrowded at all. We will definitely be returning next year.

August 2005 I have just come back from spending three nights (Sunday - Tuesday)with my children here and we all agreed what a lovely site it is - plenty of space and not overcrowded. We had previously camped at the Hollands Wood site (which was our first time camping) and thought that it was a great place except for the A337 running along side it. OK so Roundhill does not have hot showers, the toilets and sink cubicles are fine and clean but could do with some updating.
The site scored 9/10 and thats from two teenagers and a nine year old who want to go back again. This site is great for families and the ponies and cheeky donkies are great fun too - watch out for them trying to get into your tents for some food.
The New Forest is great everything is close by Brockenhurst village, Hatchet Pond - Beaulieu both within a 5 minute drive. We found a nice little beach at Lepe which has great views across to the Isle of Wight and was great fun watching all the sailing boats. We will definitely be going back again soon.

July 2004 Highly recommended. Lots of space. Very peaceful, relaxing heathland location, surrounded by the forest. Lots of wildlife about, Horses gathering by the sites lake, Donkeys invading your tent. Even though it is a busy site campers were very considerate of each other. With hedges and bushes to camp around it always felt like we had our own space in the forest. Site workers were always helpful and friendly. Unfortunately no showers in toilet blocks, could do with a couple more blocks on site. We will be going back.

2002/2003 August both times I have been here twice it was great. Good for kids to play and the dog loved it as well. The only thing which I did not like - no showers here. Great if your only staying the weekend, but not if your staying longer.
Lovely open space and great for long walks we will be going back in 2005, for 2004 we are trying another forest camp site.

august 2004 We were a group of 18 yr olds, and were made very welcome.
The site is in a wonderful area, with lots of space to pitch where you want. The facilities were plentiful and very clean, BUT the lack of showers was a bit inconvenient.
The wardens were very nice and helpful and the evening patrols were friendly and welcome.
One small thing to warn you about is a family of donkeys which also patrol after dinner! They are rather partial to marshmallows and cardboard strangely! All in all a great site and highly recommended!

Every year since 1990 We have been visiting this campsite every year since 1990. We normally spend every Whitsun holiday there, plus as many weekends as we can fit in. It is a lovely site. One of it's best features is the fact that you can pitch where you want. We still spent quite a bit of time on arrival deciding where to pitch, as there are so many good spots. The pond is a another great feature and it's great to spend time sitting on one of the benchs watching the children fishing and the horses playing.
We first visited when there was just the 2 of us. We now take our daughter, who loves it as much as we do. As it is flat it great for the kids bikes. We are now on to our 3rd warden, they have all been friendly. The last warden was great. He even allowed us in one Bank Holiday when we have forgotton to prebook and the site was full, as he knew we were old timers.
The place could do with a shower or two especially if you are staying for a week and it's been as hot as it was this year. However with the cubical washrooms you can get by.
A great site for your kids to get to know the wildlife in a safe place.

August 2003 Our first family camping trip saw us heading for the New Forest on a Saturday morning without prebooking. Big Mistake! After having been turned down at 2/3 other sites we arrived at Roundhill to find a massive queue and were one of the last cars allowed in before the full signs went up.
All staff were quite friendly although I have to say not overly helpful. We pitched without any problems (practice runs in the garden proved invaluable). Theres plenty of loos/washrooms around mostly quite clean but no showers. Apart from beautiful scenery and wildlife there isn't much to occupy or amuse the little 'uns and no pubs/village within walking distance for the big kids!
A good first experience - we've all got the bug now!

last visit easter 2003 this was my third visit to the site as usual we enjoyed the expereance we love the wide open space as you can pitch where you want , the worden as usual is very frendly and informative ,we like the unregimented plan as you are not put into little plots , you also have acces to miles of tracks for walking/ cycling/ pony trecking . and model aircaft flying one mile west of the site,to approx four miles to lymington ferry to the isl of white , eight miles to hyth ferry. to southamton ,last time we went over the biks go free, but cannot conferm at this point in time , enjoy geoffb
