We stayed at Roundhill for a weekend in a pre-errected Eurocamp tent. The tent was fully equipped with everything needed for cooking and sleeping.
The children loved the New Forest ponies walking past the tent. Be warned not to leave food lying around. The ponies are very hungry this year due to a hard winter! The wardens advised us this when we arrived. The wardens were friendly and helpful.
There were always toilets available and we didn't have to queue for the showers. We timed our visit to the showers just after cleaning time. They were lovely and warm!
Would definitely return to Roundhill with our own tent. It was very useful to hire a pre-erected tent to see if camping was for us and also to establish what equipment we would need.

We stayed here for three nights in August. The site is large, although the ground is pretty bumpy so not everywhere is useable.
The shower blocks got pretty busy at peak times, and by the end of the day were pretty grubby. There were only three, which didn't seem enough for the size of the site.
It was pretty busy, there were lots of large family groups and couples, but everything was pretty quiet by 10.30pm.
We were told at the office that tents must be at least 6m apart, but no-one was adhering to that rule, and I never saw anyone patrolling and monitoring this.
The site was quite scenic, with lots of trees if you wanted shade.
Overall a nice site, but I would only return out of school holidays when it was quieter.

Lovely campsite. We went for a very hot and sunny few days in June. The site is deep in the forest so don't really get any road noise etc. Perfectly positioned in the New Forest area.
A few trees, a few bushes, lots of edges to pitch up against. Quite bumpy ground in some areas though. Didn't witness this site getting full, although we were over to the right near the Eurohike tents. Other areas did look very busy, especially around the Round Hill.
A chap cycles round in the evening to make sure you've kept to the 6m rule - this is for your own sake, there are horror stories about horses getting cornered in in people's porches and horrific bruises to show. Makes sense.
More horses than ponies here and the cattle roaming about are nice to see.
Toilets and showers were fine but quite a few of the locks were broken in our local block and the toilet walkway was very small, be careful not to burst out of the cubicle as you may send someone flying! I like the large sized shower cubicles though, lots of room for your bag, to change etc.

This is not the first time I have been to Roundhills, have camped at 2 others nearby in the past, we book a week here in july as I love to go to the new forest show in Brockenhurst which I highly recommend for a great day out.
We like this site because of all the lovely open space and we can bike into Brockenhurst through the forest along a cycle track with our dog of the lead, where we have great breackfast and some evening meals at the Rose & Crown pub the food is good value for money and have a lovely carvery 3 times a week, Brockenhurst has a few little shops also a tescos exspess, they have a few take aways did not try the fish n chips but it always seemed busy so must be good, there is a great indian on the high street would recommend
The site itself is great we arrived on a monday and there was plenty of space to chose from and most of the week stayed fairly quiet but on friday night campers arrived in massis which of course made the site extremely busy and very noisy there seem to be lots of groups that could be a little loud at times. We were unlucky to be near people who did not keep there dogs (3) on leads and then spent all night shouting there names and calling them back.
The toilet and showers were fine and kept clean during the week but come the week end I think they should have been cleaned more than once a day because they became filthy, mostly due to people not mopping the floor once they had finished in the shower.
Overall great site with some lovely sceanary ponies and cows only a problem if you don't take the advice given by the Wardens.

This is a lovely site. We loved going for walks into the forest straight from the site, and the ponies and donkeys coming up to the tent made it interesting for the children.
We loved: being able to pitch anywhere, meaning everyone is pitched haphazardously. There are some great pitches on the perimeter road with trees and little hideaway areas. The site is dead quiet after 10pm, really good.
We disliked: there just aren't enough showers. There are 4 showers in each ladies and gents x 3 blocks for the whole site (500 pitches) and there were constant queues for the ladies from about 7am to midnight. The toilet blocks (portable cabins) are very cramped- there's a mop and bucket for mopping out the shower when you've finished but this means edging back along the row of washbasins where everyone else is queuing and it's just not big enough.
The dishwashing room has 6 sinks in there but is cramped so only 4 people can use it comfortably at a time. They'd have been better off providing some outdoor sinks where space wasn't an issue. Having said that, there's plenty of hot water and good pressure so your shower and dishwashing is worth the wait. To be fair, our stay coincided with the start of the school summer holidays and the place was heaving.
Very friendly wardens and we did see them patrolling the site in the evening which definitely helps with noise reduction.

This was the best site we have ever been to, the kids had a wonderful time, it was great for walks in the forest and only a short drive from the sea. The facilities were clean, but would probably get rather busy when the site is full. Beware of the donkeys raiding your food when your not there though (this happened to someone while we were there)
There's plenty of pubs to eat at and so much to see the and do and we would loved to of stayed longer.
The surrounding areas are very pretty and there's a lovely spot by a river which the children can paddle and play in, just down the road towards Brockenhurst.
We will definitely be going here again and soon.

Very nice camp-site. Spacious, open and the staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. I had reservations about going to such a big place, but, that actually adds to the appeal. It can take a lot of people without feeling crowded. Facilities are spot on. Great showers, toilets and washing up and because of the way the site is organised, you are never far from a block.
Its great fun having the ponies stroll by (and help themselves to some carrots that were in one of our tents) and the location is great. Close to Lymington and Poole, and you can just amuse yourself around the camp-site, with lots of walks.
Overall, fabulous!

This was our first time to roundhill, and I must say with out a doubt we will be going back again.
Arrival and check-in.
Upon arrival and everytime I spoke to the staff they were helpful, friendly and made you feel right at home with their advice and easy manner. Check in was quick, easy and simple.
Site and locally.
On site they don't have a shop, but rent ice packs, and do charge phones so that's helpful.
The nearest shops are in brockenhurst a 2 min drive or a big tesco in everton 20 min drive towards christchurch. The site was clean no rubbish or dog mess, and there is loads of room to pitch, site was very quite from around 9.30pm so sleeping wasn't a problem. Loads of places to walk and pubs/towns to visit locally
Toilets and showers.
Toliets were very clean and every morning the handwash and toilet roll were filled up without fail. Could do with more showers but I never had to wait and some other left them dirty even when mop, bucket and clothes were supplied. Showers were nice and hot every time we used them, there lovely.
Wardens walk and drive around and there very friendly. Horses ponys donkeys and cows are great but not when you wake up to a cow who has left a missive poo 2 metres from your tent door and is there having a wee the first thing you wake up. Great wake up call lol.
Washing up area and waste water disposal area.
All in all we loved it and I cant wait to return next year.

Stayed for a weekend in June, had a fab time, location was great and horses were a fun element for the kids, although beware they will get inside the tent if there is food laying around! And they are not the most gentle of animals having bit a couple of people whilst we were there.
Bike hire is a must to go cycling through the forest, lovely village with good facilities. Staff quite helpful but disappointed in showers / toilets. Website said they were refurbished but they were quite dirty, no paving outside and when it rained it turned into a mudbath - not helped by people using them not cleaning before and after!
Would return but would like to see an improvement in the toilets/showers

Visited this site for a gorgeous hot weekend with my wife and two children 5 and 10. Booking in was warm and welcoming.Staff were friendly and patrolled often.
Have never camped at a site with roaming animals so we were a bit apprehensive having heard tales of horses in tents and trashing them. If you follow all the advice given on book in you'll be fine.It was a bit crowded and the ground undulating. Found a nice spot, though I was a bit peeved about the limited space owing certain fields being 'not for camping' and as mentioned before, the pre erected tents were surrounded by bags of space which your not allowed on and they were mostly unoccupied, could be termed a waste of space!
Kids played with the other children and had a ball, who needs a play park? Horses, Ponies and cattle would emerge from the forest and provided a spectacle of entertainment just meandering through the site and stampeding at one point, a little concerning for the smaller children.
The facilities were good (portable cabins) and could be bigger. I agree with the above that the pot was could be bigger. Four showers for a block surrounded by about sixty tents. No shop on site unlike Holmsley. I would say that the animals for me were the highlight. Great value for money though £21 per night.
