Bad points:

More consideration by the booking staff as to where pitches are allocated. (We were a quiet family pitched in an area where all other occupants were group bookings, they used more space by their own tents and all of the children then played in front of ours inconsideration we felt by both parents and the staff when booking).

With 260 pitches another couple of washing machines would have been useful as opposed to the two available and the one working tumble dryer.

Camp shop too small, with food shops very limited in Morthoe and Woolacombe the camp shop could afford to stock a far more varied range.

Whilst the new shower block were fantastic something my husband did comment on was the lack of lighting above the mirrors in the gents, as the units are black all lighting is in ceiling and shaving is then made difficult, also the lack of extractor fans in both ladies and gents.

The service in the cafe was very slow, maybe concentrate on the shop instead.

For fisherman on this site, this is more of a pond than a lake do not expect a big area.

Good points:

This campsite was in perfect postion with only a mile or so to either Woolacombe, Morthoe and Ilfracombe.

Shower block is by far the best I have ever been to.

The site is kept immaculately clean.

The play area is great for the kids.

Some very beautiful walks surrounding this site.

Sea views from the top of the site.

A small fishing lake.

Whilst I have listed some of what we considered to be the bad points, these are however just trivial and our own opinions, this is still by far the best site we have ever stayed on and I like to try and be honest in my reviews.
The site was inexpensive and welcoming to the hardiest of campers and pets alike, we did enjoy our holiday 100% and I would certainly book at this site again.

We have just returned from our first camping trip with the children, what a great start.

Lovely site,it was clean and tidy, good pitch sizes, superb shower and toilet facilities, friendly staff and nice play area for the children.

The takeaway was excellent if a little slow, the prices were pretty reasonable too.

We noticed quite a few people driving to the shower block due to the distance some pitches were located from it. Something to keep in mind when booking maybe.

We would definitely return.

I visit this site so much as it really is a fantastic site, being only a very short journey to woolacombe beach it is a site that is fantastic for the whole family, The park is very clean and tidy and has great views of wales on a clear day.

If you are into walking then this site is great for you as i have found direct routes onto the southwest coast path. I have been there about 15 times in the last year and love it so much.

It has a fantastic new shower block with underfloor heating with free to use showers and also a great resturant with fantastic meals to offer. This site is perfect and also has a fantastic fishing lake with rod hire available at amazing prices.

The owners, Martin and Christine are great and really do their best for all visitors. Go to Warcombe Farm and see for your self.

Very nice camp site. The excellent facilities can be a few minutes walk depending on where you pitch as it is a large site, but you can always drive there if you are totally bone idle.

The site staff are very friendly and helpful. It is quite exposed to wind being on the coast line but there are plenty of sheltered pitches for tents, many with service hook ups if required.

Great for children with an excellent play area and lovely fishing / duck pool in the middle of the site all set in beautiful country side.

A major plus point is that there is no club house to ruin the peaceful surroundings.

Would thoroughly recommend this site as a base to explore north Devon. I doubt you will find a better all round site than this.

This was our first visit to the site at peak busy half term time, and would class it a well run excellent site. The staff were first class, very very friendly and extremely helpful. There are some nicely screened pitches for camping / caravaning. The toilet block is vast, and for the numbers using it very clean.

Only niggles were that that when the weather was bad the grass and camp track became unduely muddy. Car noise from passing traffic on the access routes made camping unpleasant, there are some big grassed areas though for pitches. Needs a noise patrol after 2200hrs. Many people were inconsiderate driving back at midnight to pitches, TV's and kids being uncontrolled. Perhaps a general walkabout by staff might help, at peak busiest times.

An excellent site!. All previous reviews about new shower / toilet block are spot on!. The wardens went about their routine business and didn't seem to bother anyone, but, were extremely helpful if approached!.

The dog walking area is immense! and leads onto some very nice public footpaths down to the coast, fully planted with new trees - the previous report regarding "losing your dog" is now out of date. Usual problems exist with this field however, namely that some dog owners do not, or will not, "clear up".

The only downside of the week for us was that although the site has an area for late caravan arrivals, we found a family pitching a tent directly opposite us at 11.30pm onwards!, headlights on, doors slamming, kids running amok etc, etc. with little regard for anybody else. All in all though, an excellent site.

Local facilities though are not so good - you often have to stand in a queue to get a beer in the nearest pub and the fish and chip shop in Mortehoe is nothing short of a disorganised rip off!.

A well kept, well run, clean friendly site. The staff are very very helpful and friendly. I read loads of reviews about the new toilet block and I can back those reviews up it's great warm and clean with plenty of hot water. The shower cubicles are not match boxes either a good size with shelves to keep your clothes dry...a real credit to the owners.

We use an American 30ft Motorhome and there was loads of room on the fully serviced pitch we were allocated, lots of room to move the motorhome about for perfect position overlooking the lake. The lady on reception let me know that they might create a few more super pitches, over the winter, higher up the site which will help getting a satellite signal !

We enjoyed ourselves so much we will be back again in early July before the big summer rush! Thanks to the owners for providing such a wonderful facility... highly recommended.

Pitches:
Mostly level, good mix of hookup and standard. Sizes were good (we have a Vango 800 DLX) and well marked. Some pitches amongst small trees and bushes but there is competition for these !
Staff:
Friendly, helpful and always around doing something – cleaning, mowing etc etc.
Facilities:
A small fishing lake sits in the middle of the site and was popular with anglers.
Absolutely the best hot showers I have ever come across. Very, very good washing, toilet, and washing up facilities.
The shop is on the small side and can quickly run out of essentials like bacon and eggs so go prepared.
The café looked ok but we didn’t use it.
For Children:
Good, new and well maintained play area, laid with bark, fenced and situated in the middle of the site. Walks are excellent so there is loads of space to run. This site is obviously popular with families and so there is no shortage of playmates.
Other:
This is the best site that I have stayed on in the UK. It’s situated in some beautiful countryside with great access to a lot of places. Walks from the site are good – one especially takes you down through fantastic woods to a small rocky beach with nice hotel and restaurant.

We were there with our 2 boys (3&6) and we would very definitely go back. There is no pool, no club etc etc and it is all the better for it. Book early – it was full when we arrived.

On the whole this is top of my SW UK site list at the moment.

Great site with good clean facilities. The views across the bay to Lundy island are lovely. We went in low season so not too busy but as others will point out the tent area is not very level at all and no pitches marked out - this said you dont mind the odd slope when practically camping right this close to the sea and views. Nice walks near by - Morthoe excellent pubs and fish and chip shop. Good things to do near by and beaches too.

Would recommend this campsite and would go again but maybe not during peak season and bank holidays in Summer as it may get a bit cramped in the tent section.

Had a really good stay during really bad weather. Everyone who works on site is very friendly and seem to enjoy what they do. A few problems with pitch allocation but these were put right with the mimimum of fuss and in a good humoured way.

The toilet and shower block are excellent and they really have listened to what you need in campsite facilites - under floor heating if only just to stand and warm up your feet. As one of our campers said "Carlsberg don't make campsite showers but if they did they'd be like these"

This is how a camping site should be - simple enough to sit and enjoy the outdoors with out club houses and enforced entertainment, and with the quality facilities you need. It is a good base for the touring area and we'd all go there again.
