This is a very slick campsite! We tend to go for a more rough and ready type of site usually so was a new experience for us.

We chose Warcombe because of the excellent facilities (we had 3 teenage girls in party who appreciated the lovely showers).

Great dog walking area where we also flew our kite. Lovely views of the sea from pitches near lower end of site.

Premium pitches a little regimented, but have bike racks and bbqs.

Worth the money if super showers are your priority, however I felt that Warcombe lacks the friendliness of smaller sites. Never seen so many satellite dishes!

We have just returned from 8 rather wet days at Warcombe Farm. Whilst the shower and toilet block are fantastic this site is really not for us. Though I suppose it depends what you want out of a campsite.

A lot of the pitches at the bottom of the site are small and surrounded by trees which cut out sunlight to the pitches and don't allow the ground to dry out properly leading to mud (though on the plus side some people may like the more privacy this offers - we found it a bit claustrophobic and when the sun is out I want to see it not be stuck in the shade!)

A lot of the pitches are also very small - we were originally booked into a pitch I could barely park the car on and completely covered by the canopy of trees and the campsite had been informed about the tent sizes when booking.

We managed to change to a slightly bigger pitch but even then the layout of the pitches were subdivided by a gravel roadway and the only way to turn the car around was by reversing onto someone elses pitch. No space for throwing a frisby or even a game of bowls!

At the top of the campsite a lot of the pitches are laid out in a regimented style with a gravel road and parking spaces with individual squares of grass to pitch your tent - all a bit urban for me! There are a limited number of pitches laid out around the edges of small grassed areas but you can't actually tell this from looking at the campsites map.

The campsite need to update the site map to represent the reality of the campsite (ie where the open spaces are and where the hedge and tree lines are subdividing spaces.

If you like a traditional camping experience of being in a grass field with some visible sky and space to swing a cat the majority of this site is not for you.

We have just returned from three days (paid for four but cut it short) at Warcombe. We chose this site from the positive reviews we read on this website so we had done some homework in finding out about where we were staying.

Our allocated pitch (140) was at the bottom of the site and, in our opinion, was far too wet and overused to be used for pitching a tent.

The pitch itself was a mixture of mud and wood chippings, a poor quality pitch certainly at this premium price (£35 per night). It took four requests over three days to get extra wood chippings around the tent. Simply not good enough.

Looking around the site there appeared to be quite a variation in pitch quality. It seems a bit of a lottery as to what standard of pitch you are allocated.

The outlook was not particularly pleasant to look out upon - mostly weeds whereas the pitches at the top of the site had sea views.

Generally, the wash facilities were good with spacious family shower rooms, however, I would not recommend this site and would not return.

I would say that this site has the best facilities that I have ever encountered. The shower and toilet facilities were excellent and I particularly liked the family bathroom and shower rooms.

The play area was excellent as well and the whole site was very well maintained.

The only possible downside for me was that you could not really walk to a village or beach but we always seem to bring so much equipment to the beach that we always end up bringing the car anyway!

A brilliant campsite, I would definitely go back

We've just returned from 3 nights at Warcombe Farm with three other families (8 children 2-8 years old) and our dog.

As everyone says, it is a fabulously clean and tidy campsite with lovely pitches (our friend's even had a sea view!).

The dog walking area is second-to-none with paths mown through long grass that is planted with native trees. You can easily spend a good hour walking a couple of different circuits.

Our pitches were at the bottom of the site and it's worth having a windbreak if you're camping there.

The children loved the play area and happily cycled around the site making friends.

Just got back from a wet and windy Devon 2 days earlier than planned! Warcombe Farm boasted 5 * shower facilities and premier pitches. Showers were excellent - great family shower rooms but the camp sitye was virtually empty when we were there and I would imagine they will get very long queues in the peak season. Not sure it was a good idea to have hair dryers inside the shower rooms as it just extends the queuing time!

lso be warned the premier pitches are at the top of the hill and very exposed - in hindsight we would have been better to pitch on the lower (and cheaper) pitches which were nestled in the trees and would have given better protection.

The premier pitches are a also a bit characterless. The playground looked great but it was too wet to use! The shop was ok but not brilliantly well stocked.

Village of Mortehoe was very quaint and had plenty of choice for eating but the road was not really suitable to walk there (very narrow, quite busy and a bit too far) I am sure the sea views would be beautiful in better weather!

This is our second visit to Warcombe, though we haven't been for 2 years.

We absolutely love this campsite, it is very well run and has exceptional shower facilities as all reviews rave about. We also love the area, it is absolutely stunning, perfect for walkers.

It is not an area I would go to if I'm after theme parks, and a busy resort. It is an area for traditional family beach holiday (weather permitting!), walking, relaxing and possibly exploring one or two attractions not far away if you are happy to drive.

Unfortunately for us the weather was quite poor to some degree, including rain and high winds for a good few days, and I have to agree that this campsite due to its location is particularly open to the elements, so just be warned if you have never been camping before!

However, that is not the fault of the campsite and is the risk one takes when going camping in Summer(!), in Devon or the UK for that matter!

Our only surprise on arrival was the premier pitches at the top of the field. Gob smacked would be the words actually. Though, these are undoubtedly beautiful grassy, large and flat pitches, they are nowhere near as secluded as the rest of the site, especially given the price for them, and we couldn't understand how the design came about. We did feel that they are to some extent at odds with the overall apparent ethos behind the design of the site, which comes across as ensuring privacy is a priority.

We can only conclude that they were designed to level off this area of the field, but personally we thought it was more beautiful before. Though we can't comment on what it's like to pitch in that area, so maybe others will disagree with this criticism.

One further small criticism, although there are plenty of good washing machines and tumble dryers, it is very pricey to launder your clothes. £4 /wash and really about £3 to get a load dry.

I don't know if it is possible to make this any cheaper or whether commercial washers and dryers would make a difference, but there it is. They take only pound coins, so if you are off to stay get a stock handy!

Overall it remains a favourite site and we will definitely return (if they will still have us after some of those comments!)! The staff it must be said do a fantastic job and it is in our opinion still priced competitively given the area and facilities and what experiences we have had on other campsites across the UK.

We visited this site in early july, I had been here before, but a long time ago. I liked it then, and the site has certanly improved further. We paid a litle extra, and had a great pitch. The site was quieter than I expected, less than half full.

There are two shower blocks. The main one and a further family shower block, which we were invited to use, as we were close to them, and the site was quiet. The main shower blocks were very clean (cleaned dailey) and we never had to queue. There are two family rooms on the end of this block too. The family shower block rooms are big, and each contains a shower, wash basin, and toilet. I can imagine these are a big boon to people with young familys.

Our pitch was spacious with plenty of room for tent and car, and we had a hedge on three sides. We found these pitches to have a nice secluded feel. Higher up the site there are more open pitches, and rows of level terraced pitches run across the site. Tents and caravans were spread out evenly across the site, so we never felt at all crowded.

There is a play area, a small shop, and a small fishing pond, (which I didn't get to try, but looks nice). There is a takeaway near the shop, open a few hours a day, again we didn't try it. Theres even a couple of washing machines on coin meters.

The staff were very helpful.

The site is in walking distance of the nearest pub, (which also does meals), though you will have to walk on the road. And just a short drive from woolacombe and ilfracombe.

We had an very relaxing and enjoyable stay and we will be back.

Hi just returned from warcombe farm and felt compelled to review this site [I have never bothered before but this site is special] on arrival I was greeted with very friendly staff in reception booking in was very easy.

Then I was shown to my pitch again by a happy member of staff, I just had to follow his buggy. No getting lost or taking wrong turns etc, I was impressed, then same chap advised me the best way to pitch and left me to it, so far so good, so to explore the site,

first stop the showers and toilet block, fantastic very clean every thing as it should be roomy showers, with storage shelves to keep your clothes dry while in the shower, only one tiny criticism not enough pegs to hang your towel on when using the handbasin, all in all shower and toilet excellent.

Took a walk around the site lovely pitches, well protected from the elements and some privacy, if you take your dog with you you will love just pop through the gate to some 15 acres of safe dog walking area the dogs are allowed of the lead here [heaven]

lovely fishing lake in the centre of the park as well so all in all a great park, the thing that make this park that bit more special from other parks is the staff, every person I came in contact was so helpful and genuine

We have just returned from a week at this site and will definitely return next year, maybe for two weeks. Great facilities, excellent toilet and showers.

We had a premier pitch and would request the same again. Well stocked and priced shop. We spent a fair bit of time fishing and the lake was very well stocked. Pitches large and well laid out with no feeling of being on top of each other.

Not even back a day and already thinking about making the 5 hour trip again soon! Lots of local walks around. Pubs close by and Woolacombe beach is a must.

Fish and Chips from Mortehoe village were excellent.
