Very quiet basic but lovely campsite excellent facilities family run very friendly ! Shop on site very handy and well priced Pitches very spacious. Enjoyed that much going back next weekend. Its idealy located - there is no pub etc on site but the local (about a mile away) is very friendly and has good food ! I would say its handy for where ever you want to go about 4 miles to Belper supermarket and about 3 and half from Matlock Overall excellent site !

We stayed here for the mayday bank holiday - struggled to find any availability in this area as we booked a little late, but were glad to get two electric pitches next to each other at Birchwood farm and overlooking the park, which was great for the kids (ours age 5-11). We checked in with an old lady who was not very sociable but dont let this put you off because it was in a lovely area and we had a great weekend. Matlock a short drive away and guillivers kingdom both 5 min drive and chatsworth house about 20 mins away. We went on some lovely walks in the area as well.
The toilets were modern and quite clean, the showers were not very spacious but the water was hot and plenty of it.It was a busy weekend and the site was full but it wasnt crowded still plenty of room for the kids to play and a large camping field also. Our friends were woken by a group of people in a tent at 3pm making noise but we never heard a thing! We asked in the rec/shop (which is part of the house) if there was any availability for the next bank hol, but again the lady appeared (I dont think she enjoys her job) and informed us they were full so people may be put off by her attuitude. All in all a lovely site in a lovely area.

A lovely site even in October when its getting slighly chilly. Friendly staff and a cheap price for a night aswell. The toilets and showers were clean and very good. Even a play area for the kids , fenced off from the nearby road mind. Only problem we found was the slopes on the fields, Doesnt look much when you pitch up but you notice it when your laying down! Didnt see much nearby ethier in terms of pubs or shops but the site shop covers most things if you have forgotton items. Love to go again as its a beautiful setting.

Plenty of space to be had in the middle of the summer holidays. Fairly quiet family campsite, kids well catered for-woods nearby, table tennis in the barn and sweets from the shop! Owners very nice and toilet facilities more than adequate. Only negative observation is that there are not many completly flat areas to pitch but I didnt find this a problem at all. Reasonably priced and well worht a visit

We arrived on the Saturday of the Bank Holiday weekend to find the site pretty full - both overspill fields in use! With probably 300 campers on site, felt the 4 unisex showers and 4 washing up sinks a little light on facilities, however longest I had to queue was 5 minutes which was acceptable. In fact I had to queue on the Tuesday when 80% of the campers had gone! The fields did have quite a slope and we weren't left with much choice of where to pitch - slope did affect some of the sleeping for some, but a towel under the end of my sleeping bag helped me stop sliding down the tent! In all we had a great time as weather was great, and site perfectly acceptable and well positioned for the activities we had planned - cycling up the Tissington Trail, Alton Towers and swimming in Matlock [pool here was great and the kids loved it]!

Visited over the August Bank Holiday. Camped in the overspill field due to booking late. Quite a slope, but the main site seemed quite level. The Family that owns the site are friendly and helpful. The no noise after 11pm is great for families with young children. Clean toilets and free Showers, but could have been more of them. Children's play area seemed safe even though near main entrance. Had a great weekend, and will go again

August 2005 Great location for walks our dog loved them. Toilets and showers clean Fairly busy but still plenty of room. Friendly site. Matlock near by with a camping shop, we needed to stock up on a few items. Found the slope on the field not to be a problem. Tried the site out as it was the first time camping for us, close to home, enjoyed our stay.

June 2005 We found this site by accident a couple of days before we went. Fantastic price, clean showers / toilets at all times, fantastic location, great play area - what more can you ask for?? People running the site were friendly and fellow campers etc all nice people! Definitely going again!!

July 2005 Visited on a busy weekend in July. Plenty of space around each tent still (we were in the overspill field), but the toilets were very dirty by the Sunday morning. Occasionally got a bit noisy, as most of the other people there were in large groups, but otherwise fine.

June 2005 We went for a weekend in June, party of 4 adults & 4 children on 2 pitches. We found the site to be fantastic value, very clean, excellent location for walks, cycling & sightseeing. The shop was only small but we generally take everything we need anyway. Toilets were always very clean and showers were clean although not many of them - never had to wait though and site was fairly busy! Childrens play area was lovely and whilst another review states it is close to the main entrance, our children played there and we never had any problems. Will definitely return and would recommend!
