June 2005 Our first visit to this site. Arrived friday and got a position in the overspill field which is on a bit of a slope, but it didn't affect us too much. The toilets and showers were clean but as they had a Triumph car rally there over the weekend these became a little crowded but would probaly be ideal for a normal weekend. The only real complaint was the overspill field only had a strip mowed around the edge so vehicles going to other pitches passed right past the tent entrance which could be a problem with small children. Overall a good site we will visit again. Oh! Its a long walk to the pub!!!

May 2005 We must have gone on the wettist weekend in history but very good. Toilets /showers very clean although could do with a few more. Small shop but ok for what it sells. If wanting electric need to book very early. Only faults - play park to near entrance / and chemical toilet drop maybe me being paranoid. Will visit again.

April 2004 We, meaning 2 adults 2 kids + aunty, stayed here Easter 2004, first time out with then trailer tent. Very nice site, not too crowded when we went. Toilet block / showers very nice & clean. Nice little shop on site for basics with Matlock Bath not too far for other needs... Eddy

August 2004 We were pitched in the overspill site, but it wasn't far from the toilet and shower block. Even though the site was full, it never seemed overcrowded. There are only 2 improvements that could make this site top of my list, sort the waterflow out(especially in the washing up area), and install a childrens play area.

August 2004 Excellent location with modern toilet block and showers cleaned regularly. Good views across the valley. However, on our visit, the site was full to capacity including the overspill field and the facilities seemed inadequate for the number of visitors. It is worth noting that the overspill field is on quite a slope. The main site is reasonably level.

August bank holiday 2003 We stayed (with a large family dome tent) on the first of two overspill fields, which was that little bit further away from the toilet block etc. Despite being really busy, the facilities were kept remarkably spotless! And the family that run this site are all very pleasant and helpful. Freezer packs refrozen for 30p each. Pitches on main fields were nice and level and close to all the facilities, so certainly worth considering for a revisit at quieter times.

August 2003 We've just returned from 2 nights at this site. Our party consisted of 9 children aged 3 to 13 and 3 mums in 3 tents. The children had a great time playing in the adjacent woods. Unfortunately, although the site is listed in the Cade's Guide as having a children's play area, the only available space is in the middle of the field and as it's bank Holiday that space was full of tents! We booked fairly late and couldn't get an electric pitch, they looked really nice - close to the Toilet Block and Reception and fairly flat. We were in the Overspill field which is much further away and quite a slope in places, we did roll out of bed during the night. The toilet block was very clean, with free hot showers and a free hairdryer in the Ladies. It was very busy today as the site is full, but I'd imagine it would be fine at other times. Altogether we had a great time, and for £8 a night each we felt it was good value, however we would only visit again if we could have a pitch with an electric point closer to the toilet block.

July 2003 Have just spent 4 nights in tents on this lovely site as a group of 4 families. I would definitely recommend the site. There is a slight slope on the site , and we did slide down a bit in our sleep - there are woods at the edge of the site, and plenty of bushes around for shelter and privacy. The facilities are very good - clean toilets, free showers, dishwashing area, and lots of space for children to play safely (there were 10 kids in our party age 1 - 10 years!) The play barn is a bit disappointing, but was a useful resource during a rainstorm. The shop sells most things and will freeze ice blocks at a small cost of 30p each. There is a lot to see and do in the local area, and the site tends to be used a lot by locals to test out their new tents - myself included! We will certainly visit again!

july 2003 would totally agree with previous reviewers comments. however would like to add that the site has a large expanse of open space for children to play on,with no worries of open water/passing traffic etc. site is also situated on the midshires way just right for an early evening walk. ideal for our first family camping holiday & would definitely return upgrade the games room and you get 9/10
