We had a 4 night stay here on our summer holidays, and really enjoyed the site and the surrounding area.

The site is clearly signposted from the A5 and is easy to access. On arrival the reception staff were very pleasant and helpful, we were given a map of where our pitch was and were given information on the location of all facilities on site and some aspects of the surrounding area.

We had a gravel full service pitch which had adequate space for our unit, awning and car with room to spare for BBQ's and the kids toys.

There was a park on site which was basic but adequate for our 2 year, although it has to be said the duck pond, free roaming ducks and rabbits were much more of a hit!

The toilet block/laundry facilities were always clean and warm and we never had to wait for a shower. The showers are temperature controlled which was great, and even the hairdryers were free!

The surrounding area has some places of interest to visit Shrewsbury is a lovely town, if you like shopping they have a large shopping centre.

Definitely a site we will return to next time we are in the area.

This is a really nice, spotlessly clean and tidy site, perfectly located for a visit to Shrewsbury and beyond. It is fairly expensive (£50 for two nights for two adults and junior Snake) especially when one considers that the site is just that, with no leisure facilities whatsoever. We've paid less for family sites with swimming pools and extensive play areas etc but maybe the lack of children attracts the premium price? It was no matter though because we really enjoyed ourselves immensely and jnr loved hand feeding the mallards that came calling to the door of the van at regular intervals!

As mentioned many times below, the dishwashing area, toilet and shower facilities are absolutely first class. Clean, and warm and the showers are taps, not push button, maybe that's the cause of the pitch price? >:-)

Staff were fantastic and I have no idea why there are several comments to the contrary below. Maybe there are new staff? Anyway, they were warm, friendly and very helpful.

The park and ride to Shrewsbury is about 800m stroll from the main barrier. The bus goes straight into town via Welsh Bridge and past the railway station(which puts Chester, Birmingham, Church Stretton / Ludlow / Hereford and Mid Wales within easy reach).

Shrewsbury itself is a great day out with Shrewsbury Castle containing the very impressive military museum of Shropshire regiments; very nice independent shopping; fabulous architecture and some really nice pubs. There's much more too, just mentioned my favourites!

If the weather is nice, then a picnic in The Quarry park on the banks of the Severn while the kids play is best rounded off in the beer garden of the fabulous Boathouse pub with a pint of Shropshire ale. For swimming, the pool in The Quarry has three swimming pools, two specifically for children and one of these contains giant inflatables perfectly designed to keep the ankle snappers happy. Note that the kid's pools close in the afternoon for private hire parties.

I recommend this site whole heartedly.

This private site is located near the A5 on the outskirts of Shrewsbury. It is open all the year round and offers a discount to Caravan Club and Camping & Caravan Club members. We had a good welcome on arrival and generally found the staff helpful.

There are 141 touring pitches with a choice of grass or hardstandings. There are also super pitches with own water supply and drainage. Site also takes tents. Pitches are fairly level but you may need levelling blocks. One area is for adults only.

There is a single heated toilet block with showers, WCs and privacy cubicles. Also a disabled room, washing up/vegetable preparation area and laundry facilities. Access to the toilet block is by key. The facilities were very good and very clean. The grounds also are kept in very good condition with rabbits and ducks around.

Service points around the site for water chemical toilet and rubbish disposal.

Access to the site is controlled by a vehicle barrier and this is locked from 11pm until 7.30am. The late arrivals area is outside the barrier.

Shopping facilities for basic provisions and caravan accessories on site. At the entrance to the site there is a Co-op supermarket. Also a chippy if you want a quick meal when you arrive.

We paid £22.75 per night for standard hardstanding pitch with electrical hook-up, caravan, awning and two people.

Adjacent the site is a Park & Ride to the centre of Shrewsbury. On arrival you are given vouchers which gives free travel for one adult per day.

We enjoyed our stay and it is very convenient if you want to visit Shrewsbury. You can hear the traffic on the A5 but it is a background hum rather than noisy.

Just returned from a weekend here and I have to say this site is excellent, the grounds are beautiful and kept in immaculate condition the park is very safe for youngsters. The toilet/shower block are exceptional the cleanest I have ever been in, I think this may be due to the fact that access is gained by key (only one key to each unit which was a bit of a pain, but we managed) and therefore children were not allowed to mess around in there. Ducks and rabbits ran wild around us and it was very peaceful.

We happened to go on one of the hottest weekends so far and enjoyed a few BBQ's and have to thank all our kind neighbours that assisted us with our awning that we had never put up before, everyone was really friendly. The shop is well stock with all the camping nick nacks you may have forgotten but food wise, there is a Co-operative and the end of the road, a couple of minutes walk. Two beautiful pubs 'The Grapes' which has an indoor play area 'ED's' and the Oxen Priory which as a nice small outdoor play area.

The only down side I would say, is sadly I do have to agree with the other comments made, that the staff, although very polite and professional do need to lighten up and smile, a bit more friendly banter and smiley faces goes a long way! Although the children's area is well kept it could do with some form of a climbing frame, the swing and slide did get a bit boring after a while. Apart from these two points, fab site, will definitely be visiting again, sooner rather than later, you can beat the Shrewsbury countryside.

Well what can I say about this site Perfect! That sums it up apart from one minor thing.

The reception STAFF they really need to smile, although polite they are miserable, not all of the staff mind, I have been to this site many times over the last 3 years and although very expensive it is first class, that's why we keep going back. We just turn a blind eye to the staff!

We visited Oxon hall in late October for Halloween with my brother and family (4 adults/3 children).

Staying for the weekend we visited Blists Hill Victorian village and Ingenuity at Ironbridge which were both excellent and on the Saturday went to the West Midlands showground in Shrewsbury for their Halloween and Bonfire show. This was fantastic with a quality fairground, Parachute display team and excellent firework show. All seven of us went in my brothers seven seater car and it cost £15 to get in. Excellent value too and recommended!

The campsite itself is very adult orientated with and extensive adult area and plenty of rules and regs. Posted around the site. The toilets and showers were spotless but I did feel like I was in a hospital they were that clinical. The kids play area was hopeless and the staff weren’t particularly cheery either.

Having said all that, the site wassecure with barriers operated by keyfob. It’s very neat and tidy with water, elsan point and bins closely grouped for convenience. The Cantonese takeaway and Co-op shop near the entrance are both excellent and the park and ride is just a short walk away which makes travelling into Shrewsbury a stress free experience.

Overall I think Oxon hall would suit mature adults who prefer peace and quiet and a site convenient for Shrewsbury but I would find it difficult to recommend to families with kids as its just not child friendly enough.

This is a well maintained site in a good position adjacent to, but hidden from, the most western Shrewsbury Park & Ride. There is a good Co-op nearby & a chinese take-away. The park is not particularly child friendly & most of it is given up to an adults only area. The toilet block is immaculate. There is a huge amount to see in this area, in particular, the Ironbridge Gorge is fairly close.

Unfortunately the management team are very poor. Due to a communication error we ended on the wrong pitch by mistake. We were treated very rudely, something we have not experienced before in 40 years of camping.

As mentioned in earlier reviews, there are staff problems at this site. This is a shame as it is otherwise a very nice site, although perhaps mainly adult orientated.

Nice clean and well run site.

Pity the reception staff dont know how to smile.

This was the only thing that put me off an otherwise pleasent stay.

The site itself was spotless, very clean and well run.

Toilet block one of the best we have seen, I dont think I have ever come across a Site like this that was so quiet in August.

The dog walk could be a bit bigger, but then there is nothing to stop you from walking your dog down to the shops in the morning.

Tents and caravans seem to shair the same grassed areas, cant say that I had a problem with this.

In all I couldnt fault our stay there, but it would be nice after a Four hour drive to be welcomed, and spoken to, and not to feel that we are being spoken at.

I hope somone from Oxen Hall reads this and takes note.

I dont seem to be the only One to have commented on the lack of a welcome at Oxen Hall.

Nice quiet site, and very handy for the park & ride into Shrewsabury. Co-op near to park & ride. But considering it cost us £184 for 8 nights (and that was with a discount as caravan club members) it was not all it should have been.
We had paid for a service pitch (no.5) and our water hose, even with our extension would not reach the bollard which are shared with next pitch, and are all sited nearer to the even numbered pitches. When I went to complain and ask if we could resite our van a different way to enable us to reach we were told no for safety reasons. They said that they had not experienced this problem before but the shelves of the shop were well stocked with extension hoses which cost us £19.99. Good job my husband carries connectors or it would have incurred a further cost for those.
Other parts of this site do have individual bollards, which are much better, and considering this pitch had been booked since last December I would have thought we would have been given one of those. So overall we would not recommend this site.

Very clean and well run site, quite expensive but you get what you pay for. Supermarket and Chinese takeaway just around the corner, the chinese is excellent. The Grapes pub about 1/2 mile away very nice but not much atmosphere. Very easy park and ride, £1.20 for a return from Shrewsbury. The site is overun with rabbits
