Have stayed at this site a couple of times. This time we were near to the bar, usually we stay in the top field but that closes around the first week in September. Have to admit that on this occasion there was quite a lot of noise from people returning to their accommodation. This went on until the early hours.
The site facilities are basic and could benefit from refurbishing. The shower cubicles have no space to keep your clothing off the ground. The water temperature is very hot but it can be annoying having to press the button every 5 seconds or less. That said they are always clean.
The bar is a very pleasant place to spend an evening with 3 pool tables and plenty of seating. Staff very friendly and always helpful.
Something worth noting is we were charged extra for having 'oversize' tents. Neither of these tents were over 3 metres x 5 metres and it did seem an unfair charge. You also pay £2 deposit for a key for the toilets and showers. Not a problem because you will get it back when you return the key, but just another charge that adds to the overall cost.
All that aside though would still recommend this site and will continue to visit regularly.

We have just come back from a week staying at this site. The site had everything we wanted - close to the beach, a clubhouse, shop and the owner and wardens are very friendly and helpful. The showers and toilets were always clean but do need updating on the site that we were on.
We had quite a bit of rain when we were there but the pitch drained very well.
The sand dunes are quite a struggle to get over to get to the beach but do not take too long, and like another reviewer said they are great for your calf muscles!
All in all a great site which is reasonably priced, we would definitely recommend this site and will be back.

Fantastic site, we stayed here for a week and found the Hemsby field excellent, good sized pitches, nice and flat. The kids enjoyed the sandpit and the toilets and showers were the best I have ever encountered on a campsite.
Good location for visiting the Norfolk Broads, Great Yarmouth and the surrounding area.
Bar/Club house on site 5 minute walk.
EHU and camping for 4 was £15 a night

We have just got back from a 4 night stay at long beach. It was our first camping trip so we didn't really know what to expect. The camp site is split over two fields on one is the main block with showers, toilets and washing up area, this has plenty of toilets and showers which were clear and a good amount of sinks for washing the pots. The other field has a toilet block so you don't have to walk to the main ones all the time (although it is only a short walk). This is the site we stayed because it was less busy. The site was flat and quite quiet, there were lots of families. The staff we friendly, the site also has a bar, small shop and laundrette. The beach is a short walk. In all we had a good time and would return.

We got back yesterday from a 3 day stay at the Hemsby site, and it was amazing, Toilet shower block, were spotless and people looked after their own space, no mess in and around washing up area. Within being their 5 minutes the kids (5 and 2) had found the sand pit and were gone. All staff available when needed and very helpful. Site a short walk from the clubhouse / bar / play area / shop / beach, which are all more than adequate for a good holiday. As mentioned beach is a slog to get to but what a view when you get to the top of the Dunes!
This site is ideally located from 'the big 3' Banham zoo, dinosaur adventure and Africa alive which are great for kids and the site provides and ideal base (all within and hours drive) but we've decided when we visit the site again we'll be staying put and enjoying the local facilities, because I can't fault them, you have to remember with the hemsby site you get all this for £12 a night for a family tent! You couldn't ask for more.

We stayed in the tent site for 9 days and had a very enjoyable visit. We found the staff both friendly and helpful. The facilities offered were excellent. The toilet / shower block was clean and tidy and well maintained. The hot water was a bit of a lottery but being fortunate to have great weather cold showers was fine. The block also had 4 washing up sinks under cover which were also great and a place to meet other campers.
We had a large 8 man tent and even when the site was full we still weren't over crowded. The shop for the site was ok with reasonable prices. The Dolphin clubhouse had entertainment on some nights, and the drinks weren't over priced.
The beach was a short walk(and climb over dunes)and we found it to be clean and empty. It was a nice sandy beach with pebbles/shingle at edge of sea.
Hemsby arcades was about 10 mins walk from the site which was enjoyed by all.Plenty to keep kids entertained and various shops and food outlets. The chinese in hemsby was lovely.
As you see we enjoyed our stay and the site that we are now looking to rebook the same site next year.

Lovely site - quiet and peaceful but with plenty of room for the kids to play football and other games. We stayed on the Hemsby tent site with the new showerblock and the facilities were excellent. The beach is lovely as well and as others have mentioned the walk there over the dunes is certainly good for the calf muscles!
The shop was well-stocked and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub food was reasonable and the beer was very reasonably priced as well! The wi fi access was an added bonus as well - £10 for a week and the connection was very fast and reliable too which was useful for finding out about places to visit in the area (and to keep our daughter quiet with MSN!)
There was no play park on the field we were on but there was one just next to the pub. We also had a lot of room around our tent as the site wasn't that busy during our week but looking at the electric hook-up posts marking the pitches I wonder how it would be if the site were full.
Hemsby itself was ok. Plenty to amuse the kids but not so great if it rained. However on days when the weather wasn't so great we just headed off up the coast and got some sun that way!

Visited this site during half term break with another family. Had our own private area completely surrounded by hedges and managed to fit both tents and three cars in despite both tents being HUGE.
Staff very friendly and helpful both in site shop (which is reasonably stocked - even has a few toys) and in site office.
There are two facilities blocks on site both with washing up facilities which are indoor (so no getting wet if it rains),we never had to queue and there was always loads of hot water. You can also use the showers etc on Hemsby Tent site which are brand new but the showers there are not as powerful or hot as those at Long Beach.
Children's play area was lovely and right next to bar with benches set on the grass so you can watch the kids.
Dolphin bar was reasonably priced and the food there was average. There is entertainment on most nights and the loud music can be a problem if you have a pitch close to that area and want the kids to have an early night! Most nights it stopped at midnight/11 o clock so maybe ask for a pitch away from the bar area.
Hemsby itself has a spar and a good chinese take away. Caister nearby has a decent sized Tesco or there's a huge Asda in Great Yarmouth.
You can also cycle along back roads to nearby Winterton where there's a lovely pub The Fisherman's Return with home cooked food.

We stayed for a week which fell over the Bank holiday. We found it to be a great site, apart from the weather, every thing in walking distance. The food on this site is value for money, what is on the menu you get plenty of, the bar is reasonable priced.
There is a Spar shop, Chinese, at the bottom of the the drive which is about 500 yards walk. Beach is a stone throw away, bit of a climb over the dunes, but well worth it.
Staff are very helpful and pleasant, there are two pool tables for kids to play on and one just for adults to play on. The shop on site sells nearly every thing but don`t sell beer, sprits or cigs.
The only down fall we found is that there are no sinks in the showers blocks, and the waste disposal point is not very good if you have a waste master, but does the job. The site is well drained, touring caravans are straight across from the swing park and club house, which is not to big and not to small. Toilets are always clean, which you need a key which you are given at booking in(£2 deposite), would go back to this site again, would recommened this site.

Came for one night, stayed for two, lovely from start to finish. Great reception at book in, showers clean and plentiful. We stayed in the far field at far end and it was great, lots of space, flat, even ground. Beach was beautiful, and the walk up and down the sand dunes did my legs the world of good:-) This was purely a random visit but will be going back again this year, for more than two nights next time, oh and the cakes in the morning at the shop were yummy.
