Went to Kingsbury Water Park last September and our review was less than complimentary. So with a certain amount of trepidation we thought we would give it another try this year, if only for a few days. Well what a difference a year makes.
To us it was like a different site, the staff were very friendly and attentive and always seemed busy. The toilet blocks were spotless and to the usual standard that we have come to expect from a C&CC site.
It had been exceptionally wet the few weeks before we went, so not all the site was open, so we opted for a hard ground pitch for our tent.
The warden even told us the best way to peg it down on the wet ground. A camper van on the pitch opposite had got bogged down in the wet ground and the staff came out to help them. Once the van had gone the wardens came along and relayed the turf in the damaged areas.
We are so glad that we didn’t let our first experience ruin it for us – this year was excellent and we would now recommend this site to anyone – Well done to all the staff that have obviously worked very hard over the past year.

On arrival we were given a warm welcome and a choice of pitches. We opted for a quiet area and hardstanding (lots of these now) The site is well drained and despite weeks of rain the pitches were all dry. Two facilities blocks, both clean and warm. The shop has basics only but supermarkets are available within 10 miles.
We enjoyed watching baby bunnies, squirrels and a few ducks who lived around the edge of the site.
Kingsbury water park within easy walk has various water sports, walking and cycle paths. A pleasant cafe and shop/information office give more local information. A gentle stroll takes you to the canal towpath and 10 minutes walk to a nice pub that does good food.
We were only there for a couple of days rest so didn't venture further afield but plenty of leaflets available in facilities block.
A lovely site and we will return.

We stayed here for the Jubilee weekend with our 2 Grandchildren aged 4 and 5, although the site was busy there was no problem with use of any of the facilities, the toilets and showers were very clean and I only had to queue the once for a morning shower and the wait was minimal. The staff on site were very pleasant and helpful on arrival we were given a choice of pitches and as we had the children with us were offered a spot opposite the playground, perfect for sitting in the deck chair watching the children enjoying themselves, the playground itself it a good size and all the children seemed happy playing on the equipment or having a game of football. The site is in a good location with plenty to do close by, we had a day at Drayton Manor (very expensive so take your BOGOF vouchers)Conkers was 20 miles away but well worth the visit especially if a rainy day as was last Sunday, plenty indoors to occupy for hours and a nice cafe. We did visit the Childrens Farm however I would not recommend it nor would I visit again, it was expensive to get in for what it was and apart from a lot of goats there was not much else to see, the farm is in great need of some TLC. A lovely site and one that we will definitely be visiting again.

We have camped here before and really enjoyed this spotless and level site.
This time we borrowed a caravan to see the otherside of weekends away. This site is as good as you can get, its clean, the toilets and wash areas are 10/10.
The only let down was the persons that run the site, when we booked in they thought we were members and were all smiles but as soon as they found out we were not they treated us like a piece of muck on their shoe! t
Tere was an empty field due too flooding and my 4 year old and I decided to fly a kite, within the minute 2 people came to say we couldn't fly it. I understand if there was vans around but it was empty! Kids playground is basic but there's room for ball games too.
Take some insect repellent and bath in it !
Overall a great site that is ran by people that love it but don't like kids!

Have stayed at Kingsbury a few times now and can find no fault at all. There is a vague noise from traffic but certainly never bothered us.
The toilet blocks are excellent with lovely hot showers and the timing of closure for cleaning is spot on --- the heating and fresh flowers are very welcoming. They are up to the usual standard of cleanliness that you expect from the club.
Wardens were all polite and friendly and check in and pitching (given lots of choice for pitching) was very efficient.
Local pub is within walking distance (approx 10 minutes) and good value.
Will return and recommend to families, couples, tents alike.

Could not believe how bad mannered the staff were, found them very miserable, I could not believe the way they spoke to people, I heard one man ask about flooding on the site, he had very young children and was flooded out, he asked very politely if he could move, site was half empty, he was spoke to as a naughty child, and shouted at what did he expect when it rained,
It was a shame as the site was really nice, it was clean and well kept, and in a lovely position, I certainly would not recommend and wont be going again,
Ironic as they advertise as the friendly site

What a fantastic site. We all loved it and will definitely return. We arrived but there was no one at reception. A note told us to look about for someone but we waited. The welcome made up for the wait. We were shown to the pitch and guided in. This is a rare thing so we loved it.
The view was ok over a lake. The site is flat and perfectly drained. They were putting in more hard standing but after 3 days of rain the pitch was still fine. So we were happy on grass. We just wished for the price it had been fully serviced. But you can't have it all.
There appears to be 2 blocks for washing up, toilets showers and waste disposal. Both are kept very clean. As this site has wash cubicles there are rarely queues for showers despite having just 3 per block.
I never had to wait and the water vary very hot. Perhaps a little too hot but better that than cold. There was plenty of space and the blocks were heated.
The main block had washing machine and a drier which we didn't use because it seemed a bit expensive. There was a phone and local information. I didn't find any games room and the shop was disappointing. There is so much nearby it didn't matter.
Lakes for fishing, for water sports, walks, cycle roots, bird watching, nature walks, mini rail, play parks and a little farm and cafe all next to the site. To name but a few! We used the local fish n chip shop it was better than most.
There is a lot in the area. My only warning is the my north of the site is a toll road and very costly. We couldn't see any alternative route signs and ended up paying just because our sat nav fooled us. We used our old tomtom next time and it was fine. Also the cc site guide showed us to the site on tomtom. Which was good.
We felt warwick castle was fun but too expensive and too many extras to pay that were very poor. Merlins dragon was very bad. Scary for little kids and just bad. Unless you were 5 or 6 not worth it at all and nothing like adverts.
Alton towers fantastic. The black country museum was surprisingly brilliant. Go early as there's so much to see its worth it. I decided to try 'proper black country faggots' the chef proudly informed me. They were delicious as was all the food.
We had a great time. Especially with the interactive actors. Loved the school most of all.
There is road noise depending on the weather but nothing awful. It was easy to ignore. Star gazing was actually good as little light pollution.
Duck geese and bird noise was worse than anything. Also take mosquito repellent as the lake breed a swarm of shoppers. It snowed and rained for us so we only really suffered one or 2 moments of mozzies.
The kids play park is aimed at under 10s but my lot all set about cycling and making dens.
Site access is fine. Long windy road has plenty of passing points and so long as you take speed humps slowly you'll be fine. The site should mark the waiting area as a separate lane on its road as new arrivals tended to be confused and park badly. A clearly marked 'new arrivals' in a lane would stop this.
This is a great site for all. Great area and well worth visiting.

Long weekend here at our most local C&CC site, which was very enjoyable. The facilities are up to the usual standards we have come to expect. There is even underfloor heating in the shower block. Lovely on cold mornings, and fresh flowers in the ladies - nice touch. Indoor pot wash area was spotless, as was the laundry, toilets and showers.
Signs could be better on the approach road(s) but this wasn't a problem as we'd been before and knew the way.
Nice level pitch (hardstanding, which is of the 'mesh under the grass' variety) with plenty of space between us and the neighbours. The ground did get a little boggy after some heavy rain.
We were surprised to find how many people were there, even in November. This site is popular all year round, obviously. Close to Tamworth for shopping / Snowdome / castle and grounds etc. and Drayton Manor just down the road. Wasn't much in the site shop but they did sell free range eggs and newspapers could be ordered in advance.
The noise from the M42 is quite loud, depending on the wind direction and where you are pitched, but it didn't bother us and certainly didn't keep us awake at night. Could be a problem in a tent or if you're a light sleeper.
Great signal (digital) for the TV - managed to tune in virtually all freeview channels.
Definitely on our 'return to' list.

Reading all the positive reviews of Kingsbury Water Park we decided to book a 9 night break at the site. Location couldn’t be easier to find, right next door to the M42. This being the case and the fact that it’s under the flight path for Birmingham Airport the noise was not a problem at all. After the first night, the noise just blended into the background.
On arriving we didn’t seem to get the usual warm welcome that we have always got from a C & CC site in the past, very unusual. There were 4 people in the reception but none of them seemed that interested in getting us to our pitch. When we were eventually shown to our pitch we set out our footprint ground sheet exactly as told, only to be told by someone else to move it as we were too close to the next pitch. We got the impression that neither of them knew exactly what they were doing – Not a great start.
The pitch we were giving was 122, which happened to be quite a tight squeeze for our Outwell Ohio XL tent. Not a problem as we were next to family who had already been set up, however you would have to expect to get to know your neighbours pretty well, as the pitches generally are quite small, when compare to other sites we have been to.
For such a large site we were quite surprised to find such a small camp shop which seemed to close as and when the staff fancied and only 6 male/female showers for the whole site, one male shower of which was out of order for 8 of our 9 nights.
We opted for a family room key as we have a 3 year old daughter, the room itself being the largest we have seen, the shower and cleanliness however being the worst. The shower was useless, with only a dribble of water of which we couldn’t adjust the temperature. The shower cubicle was mouldy with silicone sealant coming off in various places, which is not contusive of a clean environment for a youngster – Very Disappointing. That being said our daughter loved the Peppa Pig stickers on the wall.
In general the toilet facilities were not bad, just a bit mouldy in places. To be fair, on one morning I discovered that someone had thrown up all over one of the toilet cubicles, within 5 minutes a member of staff has gone over and cleaned it up – not a pleasant job – well done that person.
On the Thursday a window had been shattered in the dish washing area next to reception, to our surprise it was still broken on the Sunday when we left. Due to the large amount of children on the site we were surprised to see that this wasn’t mended.
In general Kingsbury Water Park is a large site with good flat pitches, few facilities and a not very dynamic staff. I think that we would visit again but I’m not sure about recommending it to anyone else.
Don’t get me wrong; with the right attitude of the staff and better facilities, Kingsbury Water Park has the making of an excellent site.

Just returned from a weekend at this park.
Facilities were reasonably clean - would have preferred them to be a bit cleaner, but expect I was using them after the main rush.
The shop did not have any bread when we arrived at 1pm on a Friday, so had to walk to nearby Kinsbury which was a good 20 min walk each way and not very good directions.
Plenty to keep my 13 year old occupied for the weekend. He engaged in the wall climbing at the activity centre opposite, which was £8 for a 1. 5 hour session.
Excellent dog walking.
Will not stay at this park again due to the constant noise from the M42. Kept us awake all night. No sleep for the whole weekend.
