Just back from a very pleasant 4 night stay at Kingsbury with our dog. We have stayed at C & C sites before so knew what to expect with regards to standards etc although we have found that they do vary especially in pitch size.
We arrived early on the Friday afternoon and the reception staff were very pleasant and efficient. When the warden noticed we didn’t have any children he kindly directed us to the field behind reception and the shower block that was mostly child free and more peaceful. He was very friendly and advised us where the dog walks and local attractions were.
As it happened children did turn up later in our field but not so many as in the other fields and so I think we were lucky and I was glad that our pitch was located there.
I was amazed that on the Sunday morning about 70% of the pitches packed up and went! We got talking to a few fellow campers and people around the park who advised they only lived 15 minutes away but love to camp for the weekend which I think speaks volumes about the venue.
By Sunday afternoon the site was almost child free and walking around the water park was a truly pleasant experience and felt nearly deserted.
The surrounding lakes and canal are just stunning. A walk along the canal to the Dog and Doublet is well worth it and although we didn’t eat there, you get a 5% discount on food with your C & C membership card which is useful as the menu was a little pricey.
We also took a walk into Kingsbury village and stopped for a drink in the blazing heat of the midday sun at the Royal Oak. There is also another pub, a country club, chemist, off license and newsagents in the village.
Like others have mentioned there is noise from the M42 but with everything else that is on offer it did not spoil our enjoyment.
Positives of the site: Beautiful surroundings with lots of dog friendly walking nearby, friendly and helpful wardens, easy to find, very relaxed feel, spotlessly clean toilets, showers and dishwashing amenities, good laundry facilities, plenty of waste and water areas.
Negatives: Only 3 showers in each block which meant quite long queues over the busy weekend period as everybody seemed to be showering themselves and their children (the showers are closed for cleaning between 10. 30am and noon). For the amount of pitches more showers are desperately needed, road noise from the M42.
To summarise we would definitely return but not on a weekend or during school holidays.

We had a lovely time at this site and already expect to go back soon. Despite its proximity to the motorway the setting is quite rural, with a field of cows close by (very important for a 2 year old) and a peaceful lake just 2 minutes walk away.
The motorway noise is audible as a background drone but didn't disturb our sleep in any way. The wardens were helpful without being intrusive, and were surprisingly laid back by C&CC standards - quite happy to allow a gazebo and extra cars as long as the 6m rule was met.
We stayed with a group over Bank Holiday weekend but the wardens were still able to offer us a choice of pitches. We ended up in the corner of a field (pitch 108) which was very pleasant. Some of the other areas of the campsite did feel a bit crowded on the busiest days, with row upon row of caravans, but we seemed to avoid that. There is a well stocked play area and space for ball games.
Despite the site being full, queues for the showers were minimal. The toilet blocks were clean and well looked after - toilet paper did run out about 10 pm one night but someone had obviously been round and replenished it before the morning. Showers are the free push button ones, with plenty of hooks and space for drying. My only gripe is that the water is set extremely hot and the children found it quite uncomfortable.
There is plenty to do in the area - Kingsbury Water Park is worth a day in itself (ride on the little train!). We visited Thorpe Park, Warwick Castle and Conkers. As the site is so near the motorway it is very convenient for trips further afield.
Great fish and chip shop in Kingsbury, and also a curry house who delivered a fantastic meal to the camp site, hot and dead on time. Highly recommended!

First time camping for a 50yr old. So glad I chose this site. Close to home and my Bro-in-law and sister came to help us erect the tent. First night there, woke up to rain dropping through the vents. Forgot to close them.
Rest of the week brilliant. Had a better tan than others that had been abroad. Me and my 7yr old niece loved it.
Felt like you were miles away from home but in fact only 40 mins away.
I had no problem getting a shower. Hairdryers are good. Ash End farm a must visit if you have kiddies. Dog and Doublet pub excellent. Took us 10 mins to walk and it's right on the canal.
Everyone on site, very helpful. Going again very soon for 2 weeks and I'm very hard to please. That says it all. Good thing is, I've got electric hook up. Bonus.

Yet again another pleasant stay at Kingsbury. This is an excellent weekend escape for us only 50 minutes tops down the A38 etc. Yes there is a background drone from the motorway - M42 not the M40!
The nearby nature reserve, wildlife, bird watching, canal walks, Kingsbury village and Dog & Doublet pub more than make up for it. Miles of dog walking and things to do and see.
Would strongly recommend the steak pies - if you show them your C&CC membership card you get 5% discount. Lovely sitting watching the boats go down through the lock.
Staff are courteous and I admire their diplomacy especially when dealing with the queue that is already evident at 11.45am, just shows how popular the site is. The warden who showed us to our pitch even took our newspaper booking / money from us to save us walking back to reception - service with a smile.

My first stay at a Camping & Caravan Club affiliated site.
The site itself is really well presented. It felt secure and peaceful. The flower beds looked neat, the grass was luscious and it felt well looked after.
The staff in reception initially appeared aloof and cold, but after some small talk and some polite smiles, they were quite pleasant. Maybe it was their way of stamping their authority.
Our pitch was by the toilet block (the outside light dimly illuminated our tent). Despite it being the night before Easter Friday, it didn't feel too busy. It was busy but well spaced.
The amenities were excellent. Wifi. Laptop charging (for a charity donation). Brilliant toilets and showers. Kids playground.
Kingsbury Water Park camping is hard to fault in many respects. My major qualm is the road noise. You CAN hear the M40. If you're not used to road noise, the constant hum is distracting, almost irritating. Thankfully I was drunk enough to fall asleep, but it did wake me up the next day.
Expect a lot of kids milling around in the bushes and cycling on the pathways. It was perfect for a stopping place for visiting Drayton Manor (10mins away) and Warwick Castle (45 mins), but it's not a campsite I'd visit on a whim.
If the M40 drone and the seriousness were removed, Kingsbury Water Park campsite would be top notch.

I was here for 2 weekday nights, booked on for EHU + hardstanding. The main field was pretty full, with most of the motorhomes/caravans pitched near the main reception/toilet block, and quite close together. I was allowed to pick a pitch and chose one by the hedge near the site entrance (it being much less congested around the perimeter).
The hardstanding is grass inlaid with a plastic mesh, with normal grass areas in between if you prefer non-hardstanding. I am not sure about the other fields. The water points and rubbish were near the main block, about a minute walk away.
The main block itself also contains dishwashing and laundry rooms, plus information boards and a washing line area outside. The gents toilet/shower area has 3 (or was it 4?) showers and plenty of washrooms. I used the facilities pretty early and there was hardly anybody else around.
You are given a keycode for the entry barrier; a separate exit barrier, reached via the one-way system eventually (unless I missed a shorter route!) opens automatically.
The wardens were very helpful and friendly.
A five minute walk behind the site takes you to a series of fishing and wildlife lakes that take 20+minutes to walk around. I spotted swans, coots, grebes, plenty of ducks, and even more noisy gulls. The nearby canal cuts underneath the main road outside the site and a few minutes further on you are at the Dog and Doublet pub, with friendly staff and good food.
There is an activity centre next to the site (hence the tower overlooking it) and the main part of Kingsbury Water Park is the other side of the M42, which I did not visit. As for the M42 itself, it was pretty noisy from about 6 - 9am, and again in the early evening, which hopefully means it is quieter over weekends. Bear in mind that I am a very light sleeper with a campervan that does not have great sound insulation.

Just returned from a three night stay over New Year. This was our first visit but was on the recommendation of my sister as it is their favourite site. Wardens were extremely friendly and helpful. Gave us a choice of pitches that would allow my sister to pitch next to us when she arrived the following day. We chose to be near the play area as we had children with us (aged 8 and 5) and were therefore able to keep an eye on them. This part of the site is on the side of the M42 and you can hear the noise of the traffic. This didn't bother us at all but might some.
The showers and toilets are spotless. The water is hot with good pressure. There are plenty of paths for walking/cycling and all very safe for kids. This was winter and we really enjoyed the area but it must come into it's own during the spring/summer. Our kids loved this site and really enjoyed riding their bikes around the site. As we are in a motorhome with no additional means of transport (apart from shank's pony or bikes!) it was nice to have a pub within walking distance too. Didn't visit on this occassion but was only a short walk up the road at the side of the canal and looked nice. Will try next time. There is a motorhome service area but we did not use it as we would have struggled to get on it given the length of our unit and it being on the wrong side as we were leaving. As we were going straight home and able to 'dump' here it was not a problem.
A very well kept and tidy site, quiet, peaceful with helpful wardens and excellent showers. Will return.

Stayed here so we could visit the caravan show at the NEC. Very friendly wardens even though they were fully booked they still showed you to your pitch, we had a choice of about 3 pitches,
Unfortunately we were on the part of the site nearest to the motorway and didn't I know it, being a light sleeper I did not sleep a wink the first night but then bought some earplugs for the second night and slept ok.
We went cycling around the park which was nice but would have been better in the summer. The highlight was the pub up the road its a bit old but the landlord is a right character and had us in stitches, we would go to this site again just to go to the pub !
Did not use site facilities as we use our own so cant comment on that.

Hi we visitied this site for the second time our previous visit was four years ago.We found the site to be extremely well kept toilets etc very clean.Grass kept tidy and very short well laid out pitches easy to park! Friendly staff safe for kids to play and not crammed in.
Kids adventure play ground on the woodland walk opposite is brilliant and the smaller one on the park is very good for smaller ones. For those who are that way inclined 3g reception is good!
All waste and water areas are very easy to use and again very tidy! Will be going again! Oh very near Drayton Manor Park

We booked this site as a last minute getaway as we were visiting the Birmingham NEC Arena and we are so glad this just happened to be the nearest site. It’s fantastic. On arrival we were quickly checked in and shown to our pitch after being given a choice of pretty much anywhere and were pointed in the right direction for all facilities. We were very happy with the check in, the staff and the pitch.
There are two toilet blocks, practically identical to each other. The showers are fab, very spacious and although they’re push button they stay on long enough and are reasonably powerful with instant hot water. Always clean.
There’s 5 toilets in the ladies, 3 showers, 3 cubicle wash basins and three and a tiny wash basin in the open area along with a dressing table type area and changing area with full length mirror and hanging hooks. Hairdryer costs 20p. Very impressed with the facilities. The wash up sinks were nice big square ones, again with instant hot water.
There’s a laundry with washer, dryer, ironing board etc. Everywhere was spick and span. The site is well lit and a pleasure to amble round. Shop/ reception stocks bare minimum but there are supermarkets within a few miles of the site and you can order papers at reception for the next day.
The site is in a fab location for tonnes of local attractions, far too many to list but there is an abundance of leaflets in the information area. We were at the NEC in no time at all (about 6-8 miles) which was great for us.
We spent the following day ambling around Kingsbury Water Park itself which is lovely. There are proper paths and it’s all signposted so suitable for all abilities but there are other woodland paths for the more adventurous which wander away from the gravel paths. We passed four hides which were great and well kept.
The miniature railway at the main visitor centre is good. And there’s plenty to see and do, all within walking distance from the site.
I have struggled to find a negative but if anything the grass could have done with a cut as our feet got soaked with the dewey ground in a morning but that’s not worthy as a negative really. And although it didn’t bother us in the slightest, we were literally backed onto the M42 just about so the noise may bother some but we didn’t mind it.
Excellent site which we will definitely visit again and we will plan to stay for longer next time as a weekend just isn’t long enough. 10 out of 10 from us!
